- Save The Frogs Day 2023

When I was a kid I was keen on the capture of frogs and other little critters which I would imprison and call "pets".
Over the years I went through a stage of callous cruelty until my late daddy took me to task over it and since that time — somewhere around yon fifth grade or so — I have worked on my kindess and now when I encounter a critter I will usually go out of my way to accommodate it's immediate needs.
Today is Save the Frogs Day.
It is an annual observance of frog species internationally. This year it happens April 28.
It is also an observance aimed toward conserving the amphibian habitats because frogs in particular are in danger of being wiped out due to pollution and this is due to the encroachment of people.
Save the Frogs Day was founded in 2009 by Dr. Kerry Kriger of the Save the Frogs organization.
A little conservation never hurt anyone. The over 5,000 species eat insects like mosquitos but suffer from habitat destruction, disease, pollution, pesticides.
I make it a point to save every frog I encounter. I try to be a tolerant and accommodating person for the creatures which cannot fend for themselves.

We have another World Design Day which goes down each April 27 in an effort to promote design and it's impact upon the world.
Design can be fairly ambiguous in it's aspect of ubiquity. It occurs just about everywhere ...
From web sites, items of accent and/or decor, jewelry, pottery, painting, objects d'art, the landscape, architecture, communications, and so forth.
This celebration of design originated with one Kim Paulsen, who was at that time vice president of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations.
The first day was called World Graphics Day and was held on April 27, 1995.
The day is meant to be one of inspiration and awareness of form and that which makes the profession vibrant.
The public well being associated with good design elements wherever they may be is the crux of the observance.
Whomever and where ever you may be, World Design Day is a time to make note of those elements of structure and design in your midst.

I am one of the "believers" in extraterrestrial visitation and presence upon the Earth. I think that we would be foolish to think that humans are unique in the universe. I believe there are other variants on life form occupying places far far away and that it is likely they have been visiting earth for hundreds of years if not millenia.
I also feel that these visiting aliens are typically superior technically speaking and that some of them are benevolent while others decidedly not.
I understand that aliens have claimed our satellite called "the moon" as their own and even though it orbits the planet earth those occupiers feel we should not invade "their" turf.
Some of the aliens are more human appearing than others. The most common alien form encountered seems to be the "grays"either the Rigelians or those from Zeta Reticuli. Then there is the dreaded Dulce base where humans are captured and subjected to genetics experimentation by aliens allegedly in cahoots with government agents and connected to the Los Alamos laborary by maglev shuttle.
There are also said to be aliens which are actually mechanizations created by our black ops space people and operate like robots. There are also "false flag" plans in store to fake some alien attack in order to enact unlawful population control. Furthermore, there is a frank difference in actual alien technology and their "back engineered" counterparts we have produced. The late head of Skunkworks which has done much research and development in this area has said we can already "take ET home".
We already have the means to travel among the stars but these technologies are locked up in Black Projects … and it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity. Anything you can imagine, we already know how to do.
Naturally, much of this is speculation inasmuch as I have never been abducted that I remember and it is my humble opinion they would not like to encounter me in battle.
We now have the technology to take ET home. No, it won’t take someone’s lifetime to do it. There is an error in the equations. We know what it is. We now have the capability to travel to the stars.

So April 26 brings us Alien Day. The day was inspired by Ridley Scott’s movie Alien which was released in 1979. The day is steeped in science fiction but just how far can that go in our age of UFOs all over the place and sightings.

- National Plumbers Day 2023

My plumber is Ed Van De Grift on Sunnyside in Cayce.
He's about 2 miles from my place and has done a lot of work for me over the years.
He is of a skill set rare in today's install and repair world.
A latter day renaissance man, he is actually a multidisciplinary engineer well versed in a lot more than just plumbing.
He even came over and fixed my mama's brand new water heater by repairing the defective America's Home Place incompetents wiring in her house. Needless to say she has been livid about the mess and with those dullard builders she hired ever since.
He did this without my knowledge and the thing worked great when he was done whereas she did not qualify for a certificate of occupancy because there was no hot water before he had at it ...
Today is National Plumbers Day.
It is held in appreciation of people like Ed who really know their stuff and share their skills with others.
Safe and quality plumbing is the hallmark of an Ed Van De Grift job and I (as well as my mother) recommend him without reservation.

- Scream Day 2023

Yeah, I don't do much in the way of screaming anymore. Can't really say I have ever done much screaming. It seems that the activity never held any allure for me personally.
Today is Scream Day and is a vehicle for releasing pent up frustrations in an effort to attain calmness.
The so-called "primal scream" therapy by psych people is a good example of screaming to get calm. While you're at it you can get one of their psychological labels for all occasions because that is all they're good for.
Some people can scream at the slightest provocation. Others require more in the way of stimulation.
So if you are so inclined today is a day to let out that long howl with your siberian husky or let one loose into a pillow to muffle the impact on others, or even go to an empty room — or where ever one assumes comfort and have a nice primitive anus puckering soul cleansing scream.
Some chinese medical proponents claim that screaming has added benefits for the liver. I suppose it provides some modicum of catharsis from the accumulation of those beasties which result from the activities of daily living.

- National Take A Chance Day 2023

I play the lottery. Other than the chance for a big win I don't do much in the way of gambling or other games of chance.
I will buy a raffle ticket from a child to support their church or school when presented the request. I figure we should support our school and church children as best we can.
Today is National Take a Chance Day. Each April 23rd you have the opportunity to play some game of chance.
You pay your money and you take your chances.
For better or worse, as long as it's handled in a responsible manner there is little harm in gambling.
You will either win or lose regardless of the cash outlay.
However, if you blow your utilities allocation or rent or house payment on frivilous games of chance you are asking for nothing but trouble.
It's like my late friend Sambo said of video poker machines:
Anything that backs itself to a wall and takes on the world can't be beat.
Take a chance but do so responsibly.

- In God We Trust Day 2023

The motto of the United States of America is In God We Trust. The trecherous evil foreign brigand Barack Obama once stated that the United States was no longer a Christian nation. His reference was to persons such as him and his nasty tranny wifeboy big mike and the heathen mosque thingie removed from the White House by President Trump.
Further, we see videos of black moron bullies threatening and ridiculing young white women for wearing a crucifix around their neck at gatherings — and the instigation of consequences beyond their control should they enounter others so inclined to take them to task public and messy. Regardless, In God We Trust remains the motto of The United States of America and anyone and everyone who doesn't like that can pack up and go back to the godless hellhole from which either they or their heathen ancestors came.
April 22 brings us In God We Trust Day and celebrates the law that the US Congress passed to effect the inscription of the same phrase on US coins.
In God We Trust is the official motto of the United States. The U.S. Congress adopted the phrase in 1956, replacing E Pluribus Unum, which had been the motto since 1776 when the Great Seal of the United States was initially designed.
The desecration of our country created and enacted by the democratic party and their agents of chaos in order to form a more imperfect union has devolved into a tooth and nail fight to save The Republic from the lawless lying, cheating, thieving democrat scum who are cruising for a most deserved bruising.
Though in a free nation you may certainly act in accordance with your level of patriotism — or lack thereof ... however:

- National Tea Day 2023

I used to drink iced tea exclusively with my meals. I remember in my youth dining at Buster Gleaton's place and drinking copious amounts of some of the best iced tea I'd ever tasted.
Over the years my preferences grew to include hot tea with various additions like cream and sugar. However, there came a time which I perceive evolved slowly where I shifted to plain water sometimes iced sometimes tepid.
However, tucked away in those memories I have the experience of Susan's iced tea over at Buddy's house and just how wonderful it all was.
Today is National Tea Day.
It celebrates the beverage grown from Camellia sinensis Theaceae. It is something a southern man will likely remember from his youth as everyone in the family drank plentiful amounts of the stuff. Mostly iced sweet tea.
I also recall having a distinct preference for the iced tea made by my mother. I think that you grow up drinking the iced tea made by your mother and it becomes your standard.
I have also cultivated a distinct preference for unsweet tea over the years. I feel this is simply the results of evolving tastes due to age.
It is interesting to note that National Tea day can trace it's origns far back in time but that the location is fairly exact: This place is where Latitude 29N and Longitude 98E intersect ... which is at that place where NE India, Burma, China, and Tibet are located.
So if you're so inclined today is a good time to enjoy a cup or glass of your faviorite form of the second most popular beverage in the world !

- National Death Doula Day 2023

There is a distinct process which occurs when we are on the final approach to meet our maker.
The end of life may be a touchy subject. Some of us are totally prepared. Others of us are not. The levels of discussion range from open and honest through horrific avoidance.
There are people who attempt to assist others with their end of life process in an attempt to attain closure and satisfaction with our handling of the process and our loved ones.
I did not know of these people during my tenure in the medical field.
While the literature primarily speaks of these people assisting childbirth; the late breaking and much more sparse information includes hospice and other palliative and/or end of life care.
The "Death Doula" provides this support to both the passing and remaining people. They are not medical care providers, but administer emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort and support and provide a mechanism to give the caregiver respite and assistance.
The "End of Life Doula" or "Soul Midwife" as they are also called has a focus on the emotional and spiritual aspects of dying as well as the practicalities of provisioning and logistics for the psychological needs of all involved.
I cannot imaging having the right stuff to do this work. I'm glad they are there for others and I hope I don't require their services when my ending comes ... whenever that may be.

- Jif Extra Crunchy, and the IGA

So I went to KJ's IGA about a block from the homestead. I bought a number of products including a large jar of Jif Extra Crunchy peanut butter.
My issue surrounds the opening of the peanut butter and noticing a rather 'musty' old smell and odd unpleasant taste.
This became progressively worse through yesterday when I ate a cracker with some of the peanut butter on it and the peanuts were down right rancid tasting.
I'd like to say that I've had no other issues with commodities bought from KJ's IGA but alas this is simply one of many. Most of these issues surround the material condition of the merchandise after opening and freshness.
So I placed the jar in the microwave and nuked it for a minute and a half. Then I poured the liquid contents into a trash bag and put the jar into the dishwasher that it might be suitable for the city recycle bin ...
You see, the city is somewhat fussy regarding what they say is "recyclable" to say the least.
I personally feel it IS the responsibility of the vendor to ensure fresh commodities but this is not something I've come to expect at KJ's given our past encounters. That being said, business between us has seen better days and I dare say has been reduced from about a hundred plus a week to 30 or so a month — if that much.
The moral of the story is "when in doubt throw it out" and I was well beyond any doubt which means that I dealt with the situation very ineffectually. If it wasn't the peanut butter it likely would have been something else purchased from there.

- Linemen Appreciaton Day 2023

Today is Linemen Appreciation Day.
It is an April 18th observance taking note of those who maintain the power lines which serve the population.
We have a relatively new company in charge of the lines in South Carolina called "Dominion". They replaced the old SCE&G criminal organization which was out to fund a never to operate expansion of a nuclear plant called the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Generating Station near Jenkinsville.
I was forced to visit this monstrosity in the mid 1970s while on active reserve duty in the Navy. They closed it down after a never ending stream of cost overruns and rate increase requests to cover their losses.
It is distressing to think that the state government cannot do anything except bring another set of crooks in to manage power on the South Carolina grid. The South Carolina Public Services Commission is a bunch of irrelevant dullards who don't know how to benefit from past mistakes. It is inkeeping with the vast majority of elected officials in the state. Perhaps if their parents hadn't been brother and sister things may have gone much better for the taxpayer.
I personally toy with the thought of installing my own generator and pulling in tankers of diesel fuel to keep it running. I suppose I'm one lottery win away from that reality.
The people consistently come to my property and invade it installing poles and lines where I don't want them. So to HELL with Dominion and the linemen — whom I really do not appreciate with their shoddy work which is pretty much all they've shown me in the past 30 years.

- National Kickball Day 2023

My playing kickball heyday was in the fifth grade at George R Fishburne Elementary on Murray Drive in Hanahan SC.
I'd like to say that I was a wunderkind at the foot and ball variation on baseball, but as you probably know I was very far removed from all of that.
When I wasn't busy failing at physical prowess I made unfortunate decisions during play that pissed off all my team mates to the point that I gave up on the activity in despair.
Today is National Kickball Day.
Since 2015 it goes down on April 17 each year and is a time to get out there and kick that ball.
It began as a game called "kick baseball" and uses a pitcher, a home plate, and three bases in the same configuration.
So if you're so inclined get on out there and score those points by kicking that ball then running those bases and hopefully you won't be remembered as the miserable failure that I was at the activity.
Happy National Kickball Day anyway.

- Google is biased

I don't depend on Google for information or any sort of management anymore.
There was a time when I was one of the "google it" lemmings out to cut corners and not even bother with checking those things I utilize out fully. Then I came to the realization that the scum which is alphabet et al are simply there to steer you in the direction of their choosing regardless of any objectivity you may seek — and this pretty much rendered everything they do as meaningless from a functionality standpoint in my life.
No longer do I depend on any search engine to provide my needs in this day of woke influence underhandedness at every turn. Nothing will evoke my ire with a person quicker than to hear them say a sentence with "google" in it. It simply reeks of a stupidity I decline to allow in my presence.
I even left my last job because the answer of some of the staff was "just google it" to any and all contingencies utterly lacking skill and objectivity. I now look up my own stuff and act upon things when and how I feel it is appropriate.
I will never again trust google, youtube, or any other alphabet property to provide me with anything.
They simply are too biased and promote unfair acts and policies stemming from prejudice which they masquerade before the internet as service.

I have always held an interest in art and artful pursuits.
This penchant for creating more than was previously has resulted in some faux pas as well as some items I have celebrated to the nth degree.
Today is World Art Day.
It is observed on April 15 annually and takes note of the various definitions of what individuals consider to be art.
The tastes and styles run the gamut of our various experiential inventories.
The day was declared on April 15 at the General Assembly of the International Association of Art.
It was first celebrated in 2012 in honor of Leonardo da Vinci.
Art takes different forms and categories. Art may be architecture, music, cinema, painting, sculpting, dance, literature, or sketching as I personally prefer.
Art can express emotion and represent views of the world which are not our own.
My personal choice in art is the portrayal of what I view as beauty such as the exquisite female form as illustrated here. To each their own.
Happy World Art Day and may your art express who you are to all others.
