Back in my drinking days I was known to imbibe a little tequila periodically. I only over did tequila once.
As with the dreaded Southern Comfort overdose at the Enlisted Men's Club of Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico in 1977 I never returned after that.
My attempts to benefit from past mistakes engaged some automatic aversion to the drink thereafter.
Over the years I have had a lot of various bottles of tequila. I was originally a steely dan Cuervo Gold man in the finest traditions of Hey Nineteen.
I only found out much later that my brands were typically quite on the "substandard" list of those in tequila know.
This being said, I don't begrudge anyone a snootful of tequila.
I'm not particularly fond of the name, however. I knew a lady named Tequila once and she was a sweet person. I just think whomever named her was an alkie.
Today is National Tequila Day. The origins of the observance are very obscure. However, the origins of Tequila are quite well documented far and wide.
I believe the original commercial factory for tequila was in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. Do correct me if I am wrong as I have been known to be in the past.
So regardless, if you want to take a drink by all means do so as long as you meet the legal requirements of age and ownership of that which you consume.
I will be abstaining yet again this year with no hard feelings !
