Alphabet Magnet Day 2023
    Magnetic Letters
When I was a kid I played with magnetic letter sets which I applied to the fridge on my way to becoming literate.

When I became an adult I purchased a fair number of these for distribution among my nieces and nephews who were all preschoolers at that time — in the hopes they would pursue similar interests.

I think all told I had two nieces who were truly interested with the nephews preferring other things placed into their paths.

Today is Alphabet Magnet Day.

It is observed each May 9 under the auspices of The Type Set Co ® founded by Ashley and Paul Jankowski who specialize in alphabet magnet designs for both children and adults.

The day is about letters. You place them; arrange them; rearrange them; dissasemble them; all in the name of recogniztion and phonetic recall.

These sets have evolved in their sophistication over the years to include numbers and symbols and both upper and lower case letters with duplicates as well.

Anyway, whatever your interest I hope you'll immerse your young ones in literacy by getting them a set of magnetic letters or two because it can really take them places in the future.

No Socks Day 2023

Nowadays I wear socks pretty much all the time. It's a part of my ongoing diabetic foot care. There was a time when I was young and would go barefoot much of the time.

In reality I think going barefoot is much more healthy than wearing shoes all the time.

I have noticed that now my feet are very tender and cannot tolerate even walking on finished pavement whereas I used to run wild without shoes and socks over pavement, gravel, all kinds of surfaces in those bygone younger days.

Just call me wussyfoot in my old age.

Today is No Socks Day. Of course "no socks" can be with or without shoes. It is said to be an international observance held each May 8 annually.

It seems that the sock of today originates sometime after 1589 when the knitting machine was invented by one William Lee allowing the mass production of socks as it were.

Depending on your station in life you either wore wool socks or fine colorful silk ones. Given the unevolved hygiene of those early times I have a feeling that stinkfoot may have prevaled across the land.

A pair named Ruth and Thomas Roy created No Socks Day to allow the world an opportunity to go barefoot and enjoy that "next to the earth" feeling it allows.

So regardless of whether you wear socks or not, with or withouse shoes — Happy No Socks Day to you !

World Laughter Day 2023

Laughter. The result of merriment. A reaction to humor. The results of being tickled — figuratively or actually. An uptick in your attitude and activities of daily living.

Today is World Laughter Day. It is observed each first Sunday of May making it May 7 this year.

The character of your personal laughter doesn't matter. When you let laughter rip you do a lot of good for both you and those around you.

If you're like me and somewhat less bubbly than you used to be, try to do the best you can.

You may acquire a few "laugh wrinkles" along the way but by and large you will be better off for putting a little mirth in your life.

I used to laugh a lot more than I do presently. There was a time when I believed I was quite the commedian. That was then and this is now.

National Fitness Day 2023

When I was younger I was an obese child well before it became a national tragedy. When I began thinking of a navy enlistment I began exercising in order to drop some of the useless fat and other food residues that my cohorts in school used to love to bring to my attention so often.

I began running the 3 mile "block" from my parents home to Nantucket then down Jim Williamson Sr Road then back up Hollow Creek Road to their place. Then I went to bootcamp and really got run through the ringer so to speak.

When I returned from bootcamp after being recycled twice and thrown in the brig once I was quite the slender manchild.

I pursued fitness during my early adulthood and gained a mesomorphic configuration which I maintained for a long time.

Then I backslided to my old Kentucky Fried Chicken and Marlboro addictions and lost the bulk of those gains and the increased aerobic capacity as well.

Today is National Fitness Day. Here it is celebrated on the first Saturday of May. This year the day falls on May 6.

The day was founded one coach Kim Bielak in 2017 in the name of fitness and the human body.

So, though I am now old and decrepit I remember those glory years of my youth. I keep saying I'm going to get out there and walk but that hasn't happend either.

Regardless I hope you are trim and fit as a fiddle. I'll try to muddle on by.

The stupid globalist view of the EU under Klaus Schwab think they need to control the entirety of the world from Brussels or elsewhere — as if it really might happen.

It is this misguided type of mentality that has the UN thinking they're the answer to world order as well. What utter nonsense. The bad leadership and stupidity of the WHO during the COVID lockdown farce is simply evidence for the fact that they need to get out of our face altogether along with china and the rest of the idiot democrats.

What all these entities fail to realize is that the insane Mr Schwab and the equally insane Mr Gates are tyrannical interlopers in world affairs and are cruising for a bruising. Just like the equally meddlesome George Soros the nazi jew traitor to his own people who should have been taken out long ago as the war criminal he is.

Today is Europe Day. The European Union celebrates the day on May 9, while the Council of Europe celebrates it on May 5. They can't even get together on the date of "their" day.

National Day of Prayer 2023

I have tried to be a spiritual human being during my life.

There are times when I backslide and behave as I shouldn't.

I just continue and try to be better in the future with the notion of forgiveness driving my continued existence.

I learned forgiveness from my parents.

They forgave may innumerable transgressions of decorum and comportment even though I was quite the repeat offender.

Faith is part and parcel of my culture and I try to live that faith by how I act toward others.

So in this world of the heathan brigand Barack Obama who would dare say that we are no longer a Christian nation AND ...

His nasty abomination husband playing wife Mike AND

The criminal Biden family who sell access to public office for private gain AND ...

Who do not represent my Christian values — I can just look at them and stay clear.

I try to turn to God in prayer and meditation and try to remember those tenets presented to Moses on the Mount Sinai at the burning bush.

Great American Grump Out 2023

Over the years I've been called grumpy from time to time.

Invariably it's because I was indeed grumpy.

I can't really place a finger on the underlying cause of my bad temperment and irritability — only that it surely did happen and was likely due to something stupid in my midst.

Most likely some dumpy fat assed dullard college administrator making yet another ridiculous demand.

Today is the Great American Grump Out.

It is held on the first Wednesday of May making this year's event happen on May 3rd.

The observance is the brainchild of one Janice Halthy and has been going on since 2002.

The crux of the day surrounds finding those silver linings in all the dark clouds looming over your life.

It's also a time for reducing those stressors which may result from said dark clouds.

Mostly it's a day to assume joy and an appreciation for life to outshine those inevitable bad moments.

World Tuna Day 2023

I used to make regular trips to the Inakaya sushi bar in Saint Andrews operated by Mr Ryo Watanabe.

There I would feast on various delights of marine fish and freshwater eel and typically could not wait to return.

Two of my favorite items on sushi and sashimi plates are tuna.

I am a big fan of toro, the fatty tuna formerly discarded as catfood but now sold at a premium.

I also like maguro, the lean red tuna from other more muscular parts of the fish. Either, and typically both may be found on my plate when I eat sushi.

Packaged solid white albacore also makes it to my plate in various tuna salads regularly.

I keep overlooking the mercury warnings for consuming marine fish. This may or may not be creating unknown problems for me on an ongoing basis.

Today is World Tuna Day.

It is observed on May 2 and is primarily a coastal zone celebration of some of my most favorite food animals.

The name of the game on this day is protecting schools of tuna from habitat destruction and overfishing by the 96 some odd countries which exploit schools of tuna in the oceans.

Anyone who has seen a tuna swim can attest to the size and speed of this fish propelling itself through the water.

Today is National Loyalty Day. It happens each May 1 ince 1955 in an effort to make known loyalty our nation. However, the specter of the evil democrats and their attempts to subvert all things good and promote all things bad has cast a pall over the nation.

It is time for the right to fight dirty ... like they do.

It is time to bear arms and protect our country from the evil democratic party of the United States.

Criminals should not be in control or set the standards for the land.

Walpurgis Night 2023

Walpurgisnacht aka Walpurgis Night aka The Mass of St Walpurga is observed on April 30 and is an eastern European observance also called 'the other Halloween'.

It features a ritualistic burning of an effigy of a witch on a campfire to rid the area of evil spirits ... and perhaps eliminate a little excess gardening debris.

The origins of this celebration goes back to the pagan fertility ceremonies and the arrival of spring.

This became combined with tales of St Walpurga who was an English-born nun that lived at Heidenheim Abbey in Germany and subsequently became its abbess when the Norse became Christians.

Many locals felt Walburga had cured them of their ailments. St Walpurga is tied with May 1 because of a medieval tale of her being canonized after her bones were transferred from their burial site to a church about the year 870.

April 30 is said to be midway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. The date is also significant for Beltane — which is a Celtic festival and is celebrated on the final day of winter and the beginning of summer.

Those residing in the mountains of central Germany thought witches travelled through the sky on April 30 so they called it "Witches Night" when the coven allegedly congregated on Brocken Mountain. Townspeople would burn bonfires and ring church bells and bash pots and pans because witches are said to have an aversion to noise. To top this off they would pray to St Walpurga because April 30 was her feast day.

St Walpurga brought Christianity to the region in the ninth century and is the patron saint of those suffering from dog bites, rabies, and whooping cough. Her intercession is also sought for protection against sorcery.

The end of April also brought the conclusion of the Middle Ages administrative year.

World Wish Day 2023

I've had a lot of wishes over the years. Some have come true. Others have not. I try to view the big picture with all the wishes bouncing around one cannot always have each and every one of their own.

One of my wishes for today is a happy birthday to my brother.

Another of my wishes is to score big on the lottery.

Some wishes are more realistic than others.

Today is World Wish Day. It happens each April 29 annually.

Held under the auspices of the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants wishes to terminally ill children — it is a holiday that everyone may take joy in celebrating.

It is almost impossible to find another without something for which they wish. Children with terminal illness certainly deserve priority in this aspect of existence.

The first World Wish Day was first celebrated in 2010. There is a very touching back story and the Make-A-Wish Foundation has numerous poignant anecdotes I've read over the years.

Some can really bring tears to your eyes.

So here's to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and their excellent work.

Here's to wishes and the hopes and dreams of people everywhere.

Here's to my brother, for whom I wish a very happy birthday.

Save The Frogs Day 2023

When I was a kid I was keen on the capture of frogs and other little critters which I would imprison and call "pets".

Over the years I went through a stage of callous cruelty until my late daddy took me to task over it and since that time — somewhere around yon fifth grade or so — I have worked on my kindess and now when I encounter a critter I will usually go out of my way to accommodate it's immediate needs.

Today is Save the Frogs Day.

It is an annual observance of frog species internationally. This year it happens April 28.

It is also an observance aimed toward conserving the amphibian habitats because frogs in particular are in danger of being wiped out due to pollution and this is due to the encroachment of people.

Save the Frogs Day was founded in 2009 by Dr. Kerry Kriger of the Save the Frogs organization.

A little conservation never hurt anyone. The over 5,000 species eat insects like mosquitos but suffer from habitat destruction, disease, pollution, pesticides.

I make it a point to save every frog I encounter. I try to be a tolerant and accommodating person for the creatures which cannot fend for themselves.

World Design Day 2023

We have another World Design Day which goes down each April 27 in an effort to promote design and it's impact upon the world.

Design can be fairly ambiguous in it's aspect of ubiquity. It occurs just about everywhere ...

From web sites, items of accent and/or decor, jewelry, pottery, painting, objects d'art, the landscape, architecture, communications, and so forth.

This celebration of design originated with one Kim Paulsen, who was at that time vice president of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations.

The first day was called World Graphics Day and was held on April 27, 1995.

The day is meant to be one of inspiration and awareness of form and that which makes the profession vibrant.

The public well being associated with good design elements wherever they may be is the crux of the observance.

Whomever and where ever you may be, World Design Day is a time to make note of those elements of structure and design in your midst.

I am one of the "believers" in extraterrestrial visitation and presence upon the Earth. I think that we would be foolish to think that humans are unique in the universe. I believe there are other variants on life form occupying places far far away and that it is likely they have been visiting earth for hundreds of years if not millenia.

I also feel that these visiting aliens are typically superior technically speaking and that some of them are benevolent while others decidedly not.

I understand that aliens have claimed our satellite called "the moon" as their own and even though it orbits the planet earth those occupiers feel we should not invade "their" turf.

Some of the aliens are more human appearing than others. The most common alien form encountered seems to be the "grays"either the Rigelians or those from Zeta Reticuli. Then there is the dreaded Dulce base where humans are captured and subjected to genetics experimentation by aliens allegedly in cahoots with government agents and connected to the Los Alamos laborary by maglev shuttle.

There are also said to be aliens which are actually mechanizations created by our black ops space people and operate like robots. There are also "false flag" plans in store to fake some alien attack in order to enact unlawful population control. Furthermore, there is a frank difference in actual alien technology and their "back engineered" counterparts we have produced. The late head of Skunkworks which has done much research and development in this area has said we can already "take ET home".

We already have the means to travel among the stars but these technologies are locked up in Black Projects … and it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity. Anything you can imagine, we already know how to do.

We now have the technology to take ET home. No, it won’t take someone’s lifetime to do it. There is an error in the equations. We know what it is. We now have the capability to travel to the stars.

Naturally, much of this is speculation inasmuch as I have never been abducted that I remember and it is my humble opinion they would not like to encounter me in battle.

So April 26 brings us Alien Day. The day was inspired by Ridley Scott’s movie Alien which was released in 1979. The day is steeped in science fiction but just how far can that go in our age of UFOs all over the place and sightings.

Anyway, regardless of your opinion regarding other worldly visitation I hope you can enjoy Alien Day.
