So today is National Smile Day.
I have often considered the diminished amount of time I've spent smiling over the years.
It seems to be primarily a function of the stupid brigand democrats and their desire to rule the nation with unnecessary monetized big government and their preponderance of crooks getting over on the taxpayer within their tawdry lying ass Hillary gd Clinton Big Mike gd Obama midst.
Today we are supposedly to wear our best smile in celebration.
The observance is held each May 31 and was founded under the auspices of dentists Dr Tim Stirneman and Jim Wojdyla of Compassionate Dental Care in Lake in the Hills, Illinois. I have always detested dentists who trade on the smile because it feels as though they are preying on the vanity of the populace.
Regardless, if you can smile I always think it's a nice touch to the face and though I may not participate with you I can offer my full support for the practice.
Just make sure that your dental hygiene is adequate to get out there and flash those pearly whites !

Were this the past and I more a man child than the old man I presently occupy I would likely catch the E-Bike wave. The electric bike presents a manual pedal operation in conjunction with automatic powered electric drive for the wheels and as such I can see the benefit of being able to engage a motor rather than pump those exhausted legs into oblivion !
Today is National E-Bike Day. It is a new observance held under the auspices Lectric eBikes in a shameless plug to attempt coaxing you into the world of electric transportation. Mr Biden has pretty much ruined the electric vehicle industry with his go nowhere policies that he couldn't even adequately support with adequate infrastructure. Democrats should have left this moron in his basement and at least picked another crook not quite so totally lacking good judgement or any form of merit whatsoever.
While I likely will abstain from the purchase of an E-Bike ... you know, given my 300 pound carcass, the thousand some odd dollars it costs, and the rather repulsive trendiness of it all. However, I will admit to that intrigue it has cultivated in my heart for the freedom of the recreational road.

The United Nations is an abomination. Originally intended as a coordination and informaton share they now fancy themselves rulers of the entire planet. This is due to their collusion with the WEF, Klaus Schwab, the psychopath Bill Gates and others who would have their way with you totally at your expense.
They just lost the battle for their latest exploit attempt, which was what they call their plandemic treaty or plandemic accord — whereby the World Health Organization under UN auspices would become vicars of the entire world and take our funds and dictate policy and shutdown our international borders on their whim.
I cannot see this as viable as the entire organization consists of megalomaniac such as Mr Gates and the rest of the WEF as well as the misguided UN and as far as I am concerned they should all be lined up against a wall and executed with extreme prejudice.
Today is International Day of UN Peacekeepers. This is a day where they try to blow so much smoke up your ass that you will tolerate the third world nations assuming control of the planet. This day is and they are a total farce designed to give you a false sense of security. They want to come in and effect martial law annd subject you to their every whim.

Once upon a time this was the ultimate in nutrition for me personally, the McDonalds Hamburger. The time was long ago. The place was Aragona Village in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I was a little boy with unsophisticated tastes. I was able to go and spend a dollar on a hamburger and some fries and did so occasionally.
That was then and this is now.
The entry level hamburger at McDonalds remains pretty much a pitiful affair. So much so that I wonder what I ever saw in that greasy spoon gruel. Couple that with the stupid employees who stand like dullards around the dive without a single original thought — just occupying space and having weight and really ...
There is nothing appealing about the McDonalds experience nor their meager grub.
So today is National Hamburger Day.
If you'r so inclined head to Steak Out or Sonic or What-A-Burger and enjoy a real sandwich. Keep away from McDonalds and their $20 minimum wage and ridiculous prices for junk food. REALLY. What has the world come to?

This day is dedicate to those who died in active military service. We remember them for their service and contributions to our freedom. Traditionally observed each May 30 it is now observed on the last Monday in May to accommodate the slackers of the workforce.
We in the deep South (and who are actual Southerners, mind you) have other such days marking the service of the Confederate forces (in the southern states) any of various days (particularly the fourth Monday in April) on which those who died serving in the Confederate forces are remembered. Known as Confederate Memorial Day there are presently two existing celebrations which are important to we who hail from South of the Mason Dixon line.

I am similarly repelled by the gawd awful green crap some use as well.
I like the red in my redheads to be secondary to the presence of pheomelanin which is a reddish pigmentation and eumelanin which is a darker pigment.
There is a certain luciousness to the red headed woman that is only approachable by the blondes. I can't explain that animal magnetism to which I am subjected; only that this particular attraction is beyond my control.
There are redheads for whom I don't particularly care as well such as Prince Harry who has the retard judgement of a democrat and Kathy Griffin who is the absolute last word in woke idiots on the planet.

I used to call myself a 'geek'. When it became all to evident that the moniker was being populated by the technically challenged I dropped it like a hot potato.
It seems that "everybody is a computer expert" according to the idiots at Bonitz in Columbia who scoffed at my pay requirements yet could not produce a single viable technical skill set remotely near my level in their entire wretched organization — while I received an offer I took for my full pay requirements 2 weeks later.
So no, I no longer claim to be a geek.
Don't care to be a nerd either.
Suffice it to say there's enough of them out there without me overshadowing their inferior skill sets to the nth degree.

I've taken a few road trips in my day. You get in the car and go. Sometimes thousands of miles round trip.
My best ole ex-friend Darrell and I.
My boon companion The late Jerry Landry from Cape Cod and I.
Others too. The road trip is a right of passage for some of us. For others it's a way of life.
Today is National Road Trip Day. It happens on the Friday before Memorial Day here in the United States.
All it takes is a maintained vehicle, a will to take in a little Americana, and of course cash for food and gas.
National Road Trip Day became an official holiday in 2019 under the auspices of Pilot Flying J who have a lot of stations here in the deep South.
The concept reminds me of a road trip movie called Fandango I saw back in high school. Fandango was written and directed by Kevin Reynolds and Starred Kevin Costner, Judd Nelson, Sam Robards, and the late Glenne Headly.
It's about five college friends from the U of Texas cavorting around 1971. I was 16 years old at the time. The thought of a road trip was naturally appealing.
The plot entails a road trip across the Mexican border prior to embarking on the uncertainty of the futures they all face. It has it's fun and poignant moments and I've always remembered it due to it's position in my personal evolution.
So happy National Road Trip Day and I hope you have the opportunity to see the nation in such a manner as I have so many times in that distant past I sometimes struggle to recall.

I have a bunch of wheat and Indian head pennies among many other coins in a 3 gallon glass jug in my bedroom. They are the results of years of collecting coins — and I have given away a great many silver dollars to children in the family during this time.
I also had a number of gold pieces which I removed from the jar and gave to my brother in law because I had decided that I didn't want to collect foreign or gold coins.
Today is Lucky Penny Day. It is observed each May 23. There was a time when I would see a coin on the pavement in my travels and decline to pick it up. Nowadays, I retrieve it and add it to my collection depending on the condition and the date.

I believe that finding a penny during your travels is a lucky sign. I also believe that I personally can use all the luck I can get. - National Solitaire Day 2024

My grandma Sallie used to love to play solataire. She would have a couple decks of cards and sit there for hours flipping and arranging and I always marvelled at just how much she enjoyed the game.
Today is National Solitaire Day. It is observed each May 22nd and is meant to take note of the entertainment value of the game — which has been played for a long time now.
I have often wondered how Grandma would take to the computerized version supplied with Windoze so long ago, Sadly, she didn't live to see that iteration. This particular version was written to encourage new users to pick up that mouse and have at the windoze interface.
Mother and I used to laugh and enjoy the sun on the card backs of sol.exe (the first iteration) which would sprout sunglasses and stick out it's tongue when a number of good moves were made by the user.
I am reminded about the sad song Solataire once an item on the popular music charts. That's about my only intersection with the card game. It seems like so much else in the computer world a program has do do something I require to gain my interest.

When I was a child in the first grade my daddy would fish the Snake River near Blackfoot Idaho. He sometimes allowed me to tag along and would catch stupendous fish such as trout and salmon. I never forgot those forays into the cold morning wilderness dressed in my warm coat and just how productive that time was from a food gathering standpoint.
You never know how much you're going to miss someone when they're gone. Be gentle with the feelings of those for whom you care.
Fish migration is one of those wonders that some never see. These traveling aquatic denizens are indigenous to those waterways which connect to the sea. Landlocked species are pretty much left to their own devices where they exist.
Today is World Fish Migration Day. It happens every other year on May 21 since 2014. The day is meant to bring attention to both migratory fish and free flowing rivers. It makes note of the migratory act as inherent to their reproduction, feeding, and completion of their life cycle.
The World Fish Migration Foundation maps fish migration routes and identifies those areas most significant to the various migratory species.

One of the most infuriating incidents ocurred in 2016 when the Dorchester County South Carolina idiots in charge sprayed an insecticide called Naled over a 15 mile area and killed millions of honeybees.
They failed to notify registered bee keepers as they were supposed to and nobody was held accountable.
So while I appear to be pretty harsh in the face of such goings on I'd just like to say that I've noticed inadequate attention to detail or even care in the face of state and county employees ...
Not to mention CITY operatives either.
It seems that devastating ecological so called "accidents" are forgiven when everyone involved should have been thrown against a wall and shot. The wussies were afraid of Zika virus transmitted by mosquitos and apparently the state government did nothing about the incident. I'm surrounded by incompetence in an environment where "everybody shirks".
Today is World Bee Day. It is an international observance held each 20th of May. The day features beekeeping events in an attempt to educate the general populace regarding the importance of beekeeping and bees. I really hate to get this annoyed with others but this senseless killing of bees is one of my "trigger events" which incites me to anger every time.
Obviously, World Bee Day will not be held in South Carolina which is likely waiting to kill a few million more bees at their earliest opportunity. If you don't have a clue regarding the importance of bees and insects in general then you need to move to Dorchester County in South Carolina to be close to your ignorant brethren.
I'll never forget this incident as I wait for the next appearance of a honey bee in my yard though I haven't seen a single one in years. This appears to be the results of that good ole boy system and likely payola for mismanagmemt at it's best.
Nobody ever cut me any slack for any of my mistakes. Stupid South Carolinians with NO accountability. I hope I can write about something that doesn't totally piss me off real soon now.

One of the scourges of aging is 'dry eye'. I find myself having dry eye during sleep. During the day it is never a problem. I attribute this to eyelid closure issues and I try not to get all bent out of shape over it.
AKA conjunctivochalasis. It is a common yet but underdiagnosed disease of the eye that can cause pain, dryness, redness, tearing, and other symptoms during it's course.
Today is National Mechanical Dry Eye Day.
It is held each May 19th under the auspices of a company called 'Bio-Tissue' since 2020 here in the United States. This day is observed increase awareness regarding this age related disorder of the eye.
I am told it is one of the most prevalent age related eye disorders and is commonly found in those over 60. I can't believe this is me, but facts are facts ...
All in all my symptoms are mild and I have a handle on the episodic dryness. I hope your issues with any such problems meet with the same level of success.
