National Old Stuff Day 2024
    candlestick phone
Today is National Old Stuff Day, observed each second of March and a hallmark for spring cleaning and clearing of those old treasures from your living space and immediate storage.

Normally I'd stick a picture of myself in the post — you know, "old stuff" but I thought it better to illustrate with a piece of hardware one doesn't encounter often anymore.

So in the name of decluttering your existence utilize this day to tend to your storage spaces and clear them out to recover that square footage you may be missing.

I'm not big on second hand shopping anymore.

I once was but my forays into the paranormal have taught me that second hand possessions may carry with them attachments you might not wish to encounter.

Therefore, whereas I once frequented thrift shops and antique stores I no longer go there.

I feel it's far better to have new stuff and not get haunted if you don't mind.

I also consider you who are scientific and decline to believe in the paranormal as lucky.

So have a good National Old Stuff Day and put that old stuff exactly where you think it needs to go !

The n-word and Me
Randy Marsh screws up on live televison
Yeah, just in time for Zero Discrimination Day I use the n-word occasionally. I remember Randy Marsh on the episode of South Park where he screwed up playing Wheel of Fortune on live teevee. He was really sent through profound changes alien to my existence.

In my case, the n-word is perjorative for whites, blacks, yellows, and browns and mixed race in particular. Personally, I don't really care what you think of my use of it because I don't seek your approval at any level.

If you think you can get in my face about it just fuck around and find out. Call me down in public and see what it gets you.

In the name of public comportment and civility I do attempt to refrain from casual or constant use of the n-word and — and the intentional provocation of others for shits and giggles.

My best ole ex-friend the late Charlie Paschal said that "If you don't say it, you won't say it." This is why I try to be aware of where I am when I start spouting off a lot of drivel in anger. I'd just as soon people not be subjected to my ranting when it turns all petty racist so I refrain from saying the n-word for it's own sake.

The n-word originated with the slaves in the antebellum deep South. Later it evolved to a sector of the black population claiming that it was "their word" and that I had no right to use it because I am white.

Well, you may know I like the rough stuff — and be all that as it may my use of the word continues unabated and I defy ANYONE to "make" me stop using it. All you had to do was "forbid me" in that manner and it was ON.

Cancel culture can't really cancel a person who doesn't recognize or care about the entire concept at all. Shun me all you like. I can give you a lot more grief than you can give me as evidenced by the many who cannot leave public comments but can send a nastygram via contact form email without reservation. Wussy cowards.

Freedom of speech goes far deeper than the wishes of a demented group of people tainted by their need to be constantly coddled and given preferential treatment ad nauseum for any reason.

Stick that up your woke ass and rotate, n-words.

Leap Day 2024
    February 2024
We have another Leap Day today.

I have been around for about 17 of them. They typically don't faze me because I understand the nature of leap years in general.

The leap day is added to the calendar during Leap Years and turns the day into a 366 day entity in an effort to keep our calendar in alignment with the revolutions of the Earth around the Sun.

Were it not for Leap Days we would lose about 6 hours a year.

This equates to a loss of about 24 days a century. It would also screw up the equinoxes to a fair thee well.

If you were born on a Leap Day you are known as a 'Leapling'. I was not born on a leap day or in a leap year either for that matter.

Happy Leap Day in this here Leap Year !

Taxes Filed for 2024
Tax Forms for 2023

Filed taxes for me and my parental unit using the H&R Block software package.

It was a quick and easy operation and while Moms is in the mail I am procrastinating on the print, sign, and mail of my own.

I decline to do the efile thingie regardless of how "desirable" the powers that be feel it is.

There is something about a hardcopy which simply appeals to me.

So as I delve into the obligations I have toward my nation I am left feeling that I might have gotten just a little bit of a refund.

No such luck, however !

Floral Design Day 2024
    floralish

I hate to admit this, but I used to associate florists with gaiety. Yes, in that naive time of a younger day I thought all florists were queer as three dollar bills and as such were deserving of my contempt.

Over the years I have come to realize that this simply is not the case. It even took several severe throttlings from irate florists for me to get the message. Shudders !

Today is Floral Design Day.

It is observed each February 28 in recognition of the significance of floral designs to the world.

The culture of the art form transcends international boundaries and yes, you will find florists who take offense to being called homosexuals when they are not.

At least they SAY they're not.

One Carl Rittner is the pioneer of floral design behind the day. His birthday was February 28, 1914 which was marked as Floral Design Day in the United States.

So if you're suspicious of your flamboyant effeminate male florist I advise you to keep it all to yourself.

Happy Floral Design Day.

International Polar Bear Day 2024
polar bear with cub
I've only seen a polar bear once. It was at the San Diego zoo a while back. I was impressed with the masses of white fur contrasting with the black muzzle. I was particularly impressed by the roar of the beast. I had no designs on becoming it's lunch. As time has progressed my memories of this magnificent animal have faded.

It is said that they're losing habitat from melting of the polar ice caps. I personally believe this to be a cyclic thing and the misguided environmentalist protesters who have been 'indoctrinated' by stupid educators and who like to throw paint and such on human works of art or block the traffic on busy thoroughfares are without social merit.

We should all realize that some of those antics could get you killed in the presence of sufficient motivation.

Today is International Polar Bear Day. Since 2011 It is a February 27 occurrence supporting those issues with which the polar bear must contend as it eeks out an arctic ocean lifestyle. It operates under the auspices of Polar Bears International, a conservation organization.

I am all for the preservation of the animals populating the earth. I am against the stupid environmentalists who have been taught a narrative which is not based on fact in the libtard colleges. There are places better suited for me than confronting some tard college graduate who doesn't know what he or she is speaking of when they say climate change.

I hope you can find a moment to consider the polar bear. I think they deserve habitat which is left to them for their life and benefit.

Black Lives Matter Day 2024
    Fuck BLM
Black Lives Matter is all about the marxist enrichment vehicle it is for the three black women who formed it.

Travyon Martin was a young black thug who was killed when he attacked the wrong person and it cost him his life.

Michael Brown was a long time strong arm robber who attacked a police officer and died trying to take his service weapon from him.

George Floyd was a drug addict who overdosed in public and died while being arrested yet it was blamed on arresting officers which helped to start the idiotic defund the police movement.

Black Lives Matter Day is a miscreant celebration in remembrance of blacks who simply got what they had coming. Some black people think when they murder it is all justified and if they are caught there should be mass protests by the populace who think they should go free simply because they are black and believe the world owes them something.

The inequality borne of blacks wanting something for nothing in The Republic is the stuff of come uppance ... black people looking for hand outs and wanting to replace the qualified in job opportunities. The "aw, we were slaves" argument becomes weaker each year. There will be NO reparations. It's such an impractical tired notion anymore where it has become obvious that some blacks are now out to get over on everybody via a free ride.

Black lives don't matter any more than anyone else.

Stupid people.

Quiet Day 2024
shush
Silence is one of those commodities which is frequently scarce these days. Too much tumolt and confusion through the masses who feel they have something meaningful to communicate.

Today is Quiet Day.

It happens annually on February 25. It is about pausing to calm down and appreciate silence as an environment into which you might immerse yourself.

Quiet is good for the peaceful coexistence of our fellows. Peacefulness helps to calm and maintain some semblance of central existence.

Other cultures go for the silent interlude in most every day. The mexican siesta, the asians and their meditation. Dave and his incessant love of naps.

Quiet Day is a time to seek that peace which lies in shutting your mouth and collecting your thoughts rather than adding to them.

Happy Quiet Day to you.

Republican Primary in South Carolina 2024
    I Voted SC Votes

The race has boiled down to two candidates with Donald Trump leading over Nikki Haley.

I have proceeded to my regular polling place to do my civic duty.

I'm voting for Trump in the hopes that he will prevail over this outrageous foreigner trying to assume control of the country.

If the general populace knew and cared about what I know and care about she would not be so haughty and self righteous.

Pushy teeth gnashing comic book character.

She can go far away from the United States far as I am concerned.

My ballot is cast. I now await the tally.

Floating Lantern Festival 2024
Chinese Lanterns

Chinese lanterns are pretty spectacular when released in mass to float either on a body of water or above the cityscape or countryside. However, there are many jurisdictions in the United States which have ordinances against flying these decorations at any time.

They are often mistaken for UFOs and as such may be a source of confusion with the populace at large. Particularly we who believe there are other inhabitants of the universe out there.

Today is The Floating Lantern Festival. It is an annual 15th day of the first month of the Chinese calendar. It happens on February 24 this year.

Chinese lanterns are traditional Chinese lights made of paper or oiled silk designed to be released onto waterways or into the air.

They are either called "floating or water lanterns", while those that fly are referred to as sky lanterns.

They are typically decorated with paper shapes, usually animals or Chinese characters. The lantern itself is constructed from a thin square frame with a few bamboo skewers holding the sides together.

It is said they promote fertility and please the spirits which occupy that space in which they are released.

I hope you enjoy this year's Floating Lantern Festival.

National Tile Day 2024
    tile pattern
Tile is good for kitchens and bathrooms as well as other locations in any particular construction project. I have several areas where it is utilized in my home — mostly as an easy to clean surface adjacent to the messier things like stoves and showers.

Today is National Tile Day. It happens on February 23 and is a vehicle to promote the tile industry. The structural nature of tile make it a sturdy wall covering as long as it is applied properly.

The spectrum of materials is pretty much endless and they may cover floors, walls, and alcoves for other areas of the home in ceramic, porcelain, glass, marble, granite and many other materials of various styles.

Tile has been utilized for millenia and I recall admiring some of the magnificent tile work of Pompeii, the Vatican, Civitavecchia, Florence, Rome, and Italy in general back in my Navy days.

Regardless of who you are I think a little tile is an appropriate addition to your next contruction plans.

Happy National Tile Day to you !

Be Humble Day 2024

There is a lot to be said for humility. Having or showing a modest or low interpretation of one's own importance is at once disarming and sometimes even charming. Exhibiting low social or political rank likewise may be endearing to some but not ALL of us as well.

I try to be more quiet and pretty humble. However, I become irked with the advent of the woke stupidity rampant upon the nation and people saying they may specify their own gender or declare themselves totally without; as well as any combination they may choose as well that their feelings rise above all else on the planet ...

I'm afraid this situation simply is not conducive to humility or tolerance much less remaining humble.

Taurus The Judge

Now, before you're forced to think "there he is the incessant curmudgeon spouting off again" I would point out that I am quite satisfied to be me and let you be you. I always endeavor to maintain acceptable comportment in the presence of others. However, when YOU decide that YOUR feelings are more important than MY rights you may wish to reconsider that conviction while you remain able.

Should I choose to take action against you for transgressing my existence the argument will likely be over abruptly aside for the following consequences. However, those will not deter me in the least should I become sufficiently triggered. Happy Be Humble Day ... even if you're a woke misguided sick bastard.

BTW, shove your preferred pronouns too.

Card Reading Day 2024
Moneys Tight Christmas Card obverse

I used to be quite the sentimental being. Yes, I would wax all ushy gushy at the drop of a hat. I'm sorry to say that I lost all the romance and snuggle bunny attitudes long ago in favor of a more reserved, if somewhat cynical personality which has stuck with me a while now.

Today is Card Reading Day.

It is observed each February 21 as one of those sentimental notions which used to frequent my psyche. I try to save each and every card I am sent though I must admit my filing system has seen better days.

Personally, I prefer a more crass humorous card such as this one that my late sister in law, Peggy Childers Williamson gave me for our last Christmas.

I just stopped thinking "feelings" were so important with the advent of the idiotic woke generation and the transexuals in particular.

I don't care what they think because their stance is without merit and their position on gender lacks any scientific basis. How you feel only goes so far in the presence of a mind honed on the tenets of biology, anatomy, and physiology.

Somehow self mutilation simply does not qualify as anything resembling a worthwhile endeavor or intelligence of psychosocial positionining.

So whether you're soft and warm and gentle — or somewhat abrasive like I am — I hope you'll take a moment to savor those interludes from time gone by. Read through a few cards and see if you can recapture the magic of those kinder, gentler times in your life.

Happy Card Reading Day to you !

National Handcuff Day 2024
    gold handcuffs
In my day I've owned a couple sets of handcuffs. Some of them were kiddie era playtoys others real law enforcement equipment and I didn't dwell on them or get all kinky though you might think I certainly would.

Today is National Handcuff Day. It is observed on February 20 annually corresponding to the day one George A Carney was issued a patent in the United States for his "lightweight and adjustable swinging bow ratchet-type handcuff" which were developed in 1912.

In these days I'm way too low key to get all restrictive and entrapping with my play pretties. I think it all stems from a couple of incidents in my youth which went entirely too far.

Be all this as it may handcuffs are useful accessories for the agent of law enforcement or adventurous lover in your midst. I wouldn't go for the FROU FROU gold ones like I had. They draw too much attention and gain you ridicule after the fact.

Unless, of course you have the chutzpa to SMASH in the best traditions of the incredible hulk.
