Fashion Revolution Day 2022

April 24 brings us Fashion Revolution Day.
Those responsible for this observance request that the day be utilized by the clothes wearing public to ask of the brands they wear who is responsible for making the clothes.
It supposedly promotes transparency in the fashion supply chain and makes note of those deplorable conditions for which the industry has become known.
It takes place on the anniversary of the 2013 Rana Plaza building collapse.
Aka the 2013 Dhaka garment factory collapse resulted from the structural failure that happened in 2013 in the Savar Upazila of Dhaka District, Bangladesh.
An eight-story commercial building called Rana Plaza collapsed.
The results were a death toll of 1,134.
It is said that substandard materials utilized in construction of the building resulted in the collapse.
Sweatshops and other hazardous work environments are what this day seeks to expose.
Were I the consumate fashionista I likely would care a lot more. Alas, my clothes and where they are made simply is not a significant consideration in my sphere of existence.
