I had a friend we called Tiki who was a big Elvis fan.
Occasionally we would have telephone conversations where she would speak of his talents and charisma and how sad his passing was for her personally.
The day he passed she appeared more sad during the remainder of her life prior to her own passing in 2007.
So now she is in Heaven with him, her late husband, and their late children ...
Rest in peace Tiki. I hope you, Tommy, Patricia, Everett, and Elvis are having a grand time in Heaven.
Elvis Aaron Presley was known as the "King of Rock and Roll" and was an American singer and actor who revolutionized music and popular culture in the 1950s.
He was born January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He passed August 16, 1977 at 42 years of age in the Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.
The energy of his performances and fusion of blues, country, R&B, and gospel became the beginning of rock and roll in mainstream popularity.
He was married to Priscilla Presley from 1967 through 1973. They had one child named Lisa Marie Presley who is also now passed.
His talent, charisma, and good humor made him beloved by millions, and his global fame continues nearly 50 years after his death.

Katherine Anne Couric was once a favored journalist in my sphere of existence. She was born January 7, 1957. She is founder of Katie Couric Media, a multimedia news and production company. She also publishes a daily newsletter, Wake Up Call. Since 2016, she has hosted the podcast Next Question with Katie Couric.
Couric has been a television host at all of the main stream media television outlets in the United States, and in her early career she was an assignment editor for CNN. Humph. It Figures. It's all in keeping with the Joe Biden ass kissing she enjoyed in public.
She worked for NBC News from 1989 to 2006, CBS News from 2006 to 2011, and ABC News from 2011 to 2014. She has been involved with all manner of fake news and imparting her lame opinion on the populace during this time.
I won't go into her manipulative falsifications being ate up by all the dumb ass libard democrats of the nation. All I can say is like Dick Van Dyke it's time for her to get colon cancer and join her first husband in Hell.
She claims to be presbyterian with jewish heritage. I personally view her as a satanic demon out to ruin the entire earth for her infernal magesty Satan himself.

In human events an epiphany is a moment of sudden, profound realization or insight.
Correspondingly, it also refers to the Christian feast day on January 6th whereby we celebrate the manifestation of Jesus Christ to the world. The term originates from the Greek epiphaneia, meaning "manifestation" or "appearance".
Primarily celebrates the visit of the Magi (Three Kings) to the Christ child, symbolizing his revelation to all people, not just Jews.
The day also marks the ending of Christmastide and celebrates God's revelation in Yeshua the Christ.
So we who are Christians revel in the day when the three kings from the orient came upon the infant Christ and bestowed Gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Gold is a gift for a king, gold symbolizes Jesus's royalty and kingship. It is a precious metal that would have been a valuable commodity, perhaps even financing the Holy Family's flight to Egypt.
Frankincense is an incense used in worship, symbolizing the divinity of Christ and His role as a high priest. It is a gum resin from the Boswellia tree that was used in religious ceremonies and perfumery.
Myrrh is a spice and anointing oil. It symbolizes Jesus's suffering and death. Used in embalming and to anoint the dead it foreshadowed his eventual sacrifice and burial. It is also representative of his humanity.

In my life I have been required to acquire numerous skills.
I did this in the name of employment where my "plan b" had a requirement for specific areas of subject matter expertise and the ability to perform at the keyboard when the spotlight is upon you.
Luckily I prevaled in this endeavor and have led a successful work life with a lot more retirement benefit than many other enjoy.

There is one skill I hope to never require, however. That of Braille.
It would seem that my eyesight has progressively deteriorated since my youth. I recall 20/20 early on then shifting to a need for prescription lenses. After my workday world ended and I retired I opted for readers which I monitor for strength and blue light blocking.
Braille is a touch system of raised dots,that allows blind and visually impaired people to read and write by touch. It was invented by one Louis Braille in the 1820s. It incorporates a six dot matrix called "cells" to represent representing letters, numbers, and punctuation, with contracted forms, aka Grade 2 to save space and speed up reading. This has provided access to information across international divisions and their respective languages. It supports communication technologies which were once unavailble to the visually impared.
Today is World Braille Day.
It is an international day on 4 January and celebrates awareness of the importance of braille as a means of communication in the name of human rights for blind and visually impaired people. The date for the event was chosen by the scum membership of the United Nations General Assembly via a proclamation in November 2018. This corresponds to the birthday of Louis Braille, creator of this writing system.
The first World Braille Day was celebrated on January 4, 2019.

Earth is closest to the Sun on the third of January 2026 at 12:15 pm EST and correspond to both a Super Wolf Moon and the Quadrantid meteor shower. These occurring together is considered rare in astronomical events.
Earth reaches its closest point in its elliptical orbit to the Sun, about 91.4 million miles (147.1 million km) away.
Though it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere the Sun appears larger and brighter in our sky. At Perihelion we are 3 million miles closer to the Sun than in January when we experience aphelion which correlates to being farther from the sun. Perihelion is known for happening soon after we experience winter solstice. This does not affect seasonal temperature which is a function of the earth's tilt. In in January the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun.

- Windows 11 and Bugs

It appears to me that Windoze 11 is quite buggy.
Beyond previous versions. Various things annoy me the foremost of which are the need of Microsoft to make me some kind of "member" in their own mind with an email account controlled by them and various other tedious hoops they would have me jump through if they could.
Luckily I don't use this account they have captured of their own volition as "assigned" to me but there are many more levels of tedium remaining. They are also entirely too preoccupied with telemetry and the elimination of old trusted tried and true components ...
I wish it were those sparsely used features making the waves but their core componentry is the picture of bloat and lack of performance. This is a problem with a GUI implementations in general and why I prefer CLI hands down.
I find myself not trusting the entire platform and run their repair routines a lot more than I should have to. Trust is not easily regained once you lose the customer with your abundant incompetence.
In computing, a bug is a flaw, error, or fault in software or hardware that causes it to produce an incorrect, unexpected, or undesired result, like a crash, freeze, or wrong output.
I know a lot of people running shops who try to go to bat for them. All they have done is lost business for their trouble.
These issues stem from mistakes in the design or coding process, ranging from minor typos to severe system failures, and require finding and fixing them (debugging) for proper operation, with a famous historical origin linked to an actual moth discovered by the legendary "Amazing" Grace Hopper causing a malfunction in an early computer. Grace Murray Harper attained the rank of Admiral in the United States Navy.
For a company which sells software before it's ready and pushes a never ending stream of online updates they sure don't bother to make sure of interoperability before pushing updates out to users.
All-in-all I could have done without Windoze 11 and it is a prime selling point for Linux desktops and a divergence from the entire Microsoft line.
Every Microsoft fan I ever met after Windows for Workgroups was a flaming pseudointellectual anyway.
The most contradictory aspect of my existence remains the fact that I was a SUCH staunch microsoft supporter in the beginning. I mean, you couldn't even say the word MacIntosh in my presence without incurring my wrath ... eh Tom Priddy? All it takes is a never ending track record of repeated failures, unnecessary regimentation, and idiotic certifications to take care of that. To sum it all up I simply no longer need the drama of any Microsoft installation in my life. I'd just as soon do Unix anymore.
In a word, Give me CLI or give me death !

Leaders of the Khmer Rouge, the group that ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979, publicly apologized for the millions of people their government was responsible for killing during the Cambodian genocide.
This perfunctory political insincere apology was not well received by those seeking justice for the Killing Fields and other regime atrocities and nothing ended with it.
It would seem that torture and murder require something quite a bit more substantial ... or at least sincere.

On this day in 1922 the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was established. It's capital was Moscow. It eventually incorporated 15 republics.

The USSR was the results of the 1917 Russian Revolution, whereby the Bolsheviks seized power.
This led to the Russian Civil War, pitting the Bolshevik Red Army against anti-communist forces across the former Russian Empire.
The Bolshevik victory allowed several Soviet republics to consolidate together.
The Union was formally established in December 1922 with the signing of the Treaty on the Creation of the USSR.
The Treaty brought together four founding republics:
• the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR),
• the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic,
• the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, and
• the Transcaucasian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.
The state’s ideology was based on Marxism-Leninism and was therefore promoting their failed idea of a socialist society.
This doctrine promoted a “dictatorship of the proletariat,” whereby the working class, led by the Communist Party, held state power to suppress opposition and build a communist future.
The primary goal of the Treaty was to ensure the security and economic reconstruction of the republics.

- National Fruitcake Day 2025

How I do love a slice of fruit cake and a glass of milk — or perhaps a cup of egg nog — during the holiday season. Today is National Fruitcake Day the day to celebrate we eccentric people pursuing those things we love. As a true lover of fruit cakes of all varieties I enjoy those seasonal delights to the nth degree.
Some people like me like more fruit in the mix. I have friends like Mary who prefer a preponderance of cake instead. I like both for different reasons and really have no preference. Some people take a cloth soaked in Rum and wrap their fruitcake therein. I have found this approach quite satisfactory from a standpoint of taste and moisture imparted to the final product ...
And this from a guy who doesn't imbibe at all anymore.
I always thought my grandma Ida made the best fruitcake. Shoot, she made the best everything else as well. Unfortunately, it seems that Canada holds the title of "most worthy fruitcake" and fruitcake is commonly eaten everywhere during the Christmas season there.
In the United States, Claxton, Georgia is the fruitcake capital. Yes, I do love a nice hunk of Claxton fruitcake as well. Here Claxton, Georgia, is known as the Fruitcake Capital of the World.
The purpose of National Fruitcake Day is to celebrate and enjoy this rich cake product and to take the oppertunity to join other fruitcake lovers a designated day to share, eat, and gift fruitcakes.
It's a holiday tradition with some of us hardcore fruitcake eaters.
So here's your chance to embrace the tradition. Spanning from it's ancient Roman origins to modern baking. Take time to create fun memories around this dense, boozy, or simple holiday treat.

When I was a kid there was "Chairman Mao" of China. Atop a pedestal, untouchable by the West. The leader of leaders among millions of countrymen.
Mao Zedong was born December 26, 1893 in Shaoshan, Hunan province of China. He passed September 9, 1976 in Beijing.
He was the principal Chinese Marxist, soldier, and statesman and led his country’s communist revolution.
Mao was the leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 1935 until his death. He was chairman (chief of state) of the People’s Republic of China from 1949 to 1959. He remained chairman of the party until his death.
When China emerged from a half century of revolution as the world’s most populous country and launched itself on a path of economic development and social change.
Mao Zedong occupied a critical place in the country’s resurgence though he did not play a dominant role throughout the whole struggle.
In the early years of the CCP, he was a secondary figure and even after the 1940s the crucial decisions were not his alone.
He was instrumental in orchestrating the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
From the foundation of the CCP in 1921 to Mao’s death in 1976, one can fairly regard Mao Zedong as the principal architect that which China became on it's way to that new thing called "The Peoples Republic of China".
