Armed Forces Day 2026

Having grown up a 'navy brat' I have always been "pro armed forces". It's not so much patriotism as duty. I appreciate the importance of the armed forces and only wish I could have set them upon a few groups of my own volition.
No luck initiating 'attack mode' however.
Today is Armed Forces Day. It was declared during 1949–1950 by President Truman to unify separate service celebrations under the Department of Defense to honor, thank, and show appreciation for all active-duty military personnel. The day specifically recognizes those currently in uniform.
It is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May and honors all US active duty, reserve, and national guard men and women on the planet. It was established in 1949–1950 by President Truman as a unification of those separate service celebrations under the Department of Defense.
