Everything You Think Is Wrong Day 2026
    everything you think is wrong
Everything You Think Is Wrong Day is supposedly one of those 'tongue in cheek' holidays meant to be fun and unofficial.

Each March 15 to day comes around as an impetus toward self reflection and humility.

It is in the vein of no one is correct 100% of the time and we should be both accepting and forgiving of our mistakes and transgression with an emphasis on growth and learning from newly acquired perspectives along the way.

I don't know how "fun" it all is but I can say that I've had my fair share of incorrect notions and I have attempted to evolve psychosocially as a human being in the fray called life.

I can pretty much sum up the state of everything I think is wrong in a single phrase:

the stupidity of democrat politics

Misconceptions abound. Take what you know for fact and build on it.

Ides of March hell — Happy Everything You Think Is Wrong Day.

When is it time to stop playing the lottery
Lottery second thoughts
The time to stop playing the lottery is prior to ever beginning.

The extreme waste of funds incurred as the result of seeking those ill gotten gains from gambling are detrimental to your finances far and wide WHEN you fail to win

Oh the humanity of seeking that which hasn't and likely will never arrive.

I remember in the beginning back in 2002 when I thought I would win the lottery.

Well, it's 24 years later and I've never won ANYTHING substantial ...

I believe it's time to just suck it up and stop playing this loser which is the SC Educational Lottery. I don't care what kind of scholarships they provide. I'm not in it to support some school child. A child's education should fall solely to the parent first and foremost.

I'm in it for myself. Personal winnings. Riches beyond my wildest dreams. Only because it's my money in play and it's steadily proving to be wasted more and more with each successive year.

While I have cut back I am only now considering full cessation.

Wish me luck.

Albert Einstein's Birthday 2026
     Albert Einstein

The renowned physicist was born on this day in 1879.

Albert Einstein was a famous physicist noted for his development of the Theory of Relativity. He was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics.

He became a naturalized US citizen and was a lifelong pacifist and civil rights supporter.

He had his brain studied after death, leaving behind a legacy that shaped modern physics and beyond.

He famously worked as a patent clerk while developing revolutionary theories, was offered (and declined) the presidency of Israel, and was known for his quirks like disliking socks.

He revolutionized the field of physics. His theories of relativity explained gravity as the curvature of spacetime, impacting GPS and cosmology, and he also explained Brownian motion, proving the existence of atoms.

He was a Nobel Prize Winner — but not for Relativity. While famous for relativity, he won the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.

A consummate pacifist, he opposed nationalism, supported civil rights in America, and was an active member of the NAACP after moving to the US.

Einstein declined Presidency of Israel. In 1952, he was offered the presidency of Israel but declined the offer, citing his lack of aptitude for the role.

His were a combination of unique personality and quirky habits. He was known for disliking socks, having temper tantrums as a child, and famously pretending to be someone else to avoid fans on the street.

He was born March 14 1879 and died on April 18 1955. Today is the 147th anniversary of his birth. Happy birthday in Heaven.

National Good Samaritan Day 2026
The Parable of the Good Samaritan
One of those stories passed to me during childhood was that of the Good Samaritan.

Derived from The Parable of the Good Samaritan contained in the Holy Bible book of Luke Chapter 10 verses 25 through 37 it is a story of compassion and mercy which has been lost to me in my adult life with rude fragile black boy high school children from Gray Collegiate Academy kicking in the doors to my truck and generally making me want to arm myself to the teeth for self protection.

So now I never go anywhere unless packing a loaded firearm anymore.

In contrast, scripture tells us about the Samaritan who found a man who had been robbed and beaten on the road. There was no assistance afforded by the other travelers and the Samaritan took it upon himself to tend to the man and provide him with food and a sheltered place to recoup his health.

The Lord Yeshua the Christ expanded the word neighbor" to include anyone in need.

Compassion and mercy were said to define neighborly love over religious or social standing.

The parable challenges us to look past prejudices and render aid to those who are different or foreign. It serves as a call to action to help those in need, regardless of the cost or personal risk.

I'm afraid it is now too late for me but perhaps you can take these things to heart. I have a personal vendetta which will forever override these tenets in my heart.

The parable celebrates unselfish help and encourages acts of kindness.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

10:25  And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
10:26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
10:27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
10:28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
10:29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
10:30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
10:31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
10:32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
10:33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
10:34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
10:35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
10:36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
10:37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

International Wig Day 2026
    wiggish
In reality, I would never seriously don a wig.

I don't know, something about "fake hair" simply repels me. Now were I a female of the species I might likely feel otherwise.

I do know I have leveled my share of ridicule on men who wear "rugs" and such because I think they're effeminate.

Today is International Wig Day.

It is observed each March 10th under the auspices of Temashop.dk which is a costume shop in Denmark.

The day is ostensibly to raise awareness for hair loss caused by cancer treatments and diseases, while also celebrating self-expression and fun.

Despite all the hubbub I seriously doubt that there will ever be any new bold looks for me.

I'm satisfied with my beard and have gotten past the male pattern baldness long ago.

So put on your high heel sneakers and put your wig hat on your head.

Happy International Wig Day ... men or women.

National Napping Day 2026
nap
I am rather alarmed at my wish to nap these days.

It seems I can lie down for a couple of hours then sleep all night when bedtime comes. I also arise somewhere around 4 am and retire at around 7 pm.

Go figure.

I attribute this all to my elderliness.

I used to get up early and sometimes remain awake for days on end. I recall preparing for classes all weekend day and night then presenting the material on Monday with no intervening sleep.

Those days appear to be over.

Today is National Napping Day.

We observe it the Monday after Daylight Saving Time begins which is March 9, 2026 this year — observed since 1999 under the auspices of by Boston University professor William Anthony and his wife, Camille.

It supposedly helps people recover from the loss of one hour sleep. It is said to improve alertness, diminish stress, and provide for better productivity.

I find this all dubious at best.

My personal beliefs are that I should knock off all the napping I do. I really don't see it all ending, however.

Have a happy National Napping Day.

International Women's Day 2026
    couple
In a nutshell, I believe women were made for men. I believe that men were made for women. I do not believe that men were made for other men. I do not believe that women were made for other women. Finally, I do not believe that there is someone for everyone.

I believe that same sex relationships are intrinsically without merit in the scheme of the world. That pretty much sums up my attitude towards the opposite sex. The human bonding is typically a function of different sexes meeting and making that magic known as human sexuality happen.

Everything else is secondary as far as I am concerned.

If you feel you were born the wrong sex you're mentally defective. If you believe that the rules of genetics and natural order will bend to your whims you are incorrect. If you call yourself trans you need to be eliminated from the population as that fundamentally sick individual you are.

Today is International Women's Day.

It originates from early 20th-century labor movements in Europe and North America.

It was initially proposed by socialist activist Clara Zetkin in 1910.

It was first observed in 1911 with the united nations attempting to assume credit for the observance in 1975.

It is an international observance of social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and to discuss "gender equality" as it relates to equal rights, pay, and opportunities for women. I think this notion is somewhat dated personally. I have been forced to work for some women who did not qualify for their position because of these ill conceived notions of fairness in the workplace.

The day is recognized internationally to tout the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of the female of the species.

It is also a day to honor women's contributions and advocate for women's rights.

A continuing whine about gender parity is likely in order even though from the male perspective they walk on the more qualified in the name of their positions.

So break out your knitted pussy hats bitches and turn on the whine !

Replaced my Roku Ultra yesterday
New Roku Ultra
A week or so back I ordered the latest iteration of the Roku Ultra.

My existing unit was working fine but it was quite a few years old and I felt a hardware recycle couldn't hurt.

My new unit arrived today with the Roku Ultra, quad core processor, bluetooth, Voice Remote Pro 2nd Edition, a USB-C charging cable, power brick, and HDMI cable.

It took every bit of 5 minutes to factory reset the old unit then install the new one ... even though the steps have changed.

They had a number of preloaded apps. I imagine companies pay a fee for this consideration. I ended up removing everything except those things I have paid for myself. I'm pretty particular with apps and as long as you're not Tubi you have the same chance everyone else has to remain on my network. Tubi can go straight to hell for the whiny stupid NOTHING provider punk bitches they are.

While I'm fine with the new unit, I felt the remote was quite a bit FROU FROU for it's operational requirements — and it makes the entire experience somewhat pussified. I had purchased a new remote only a couple of months back and I kept that in the mix as well.

I was surprised at the level the machine pushes voice control. I am suspicious of such goings on and decline to activate anything in the way of voice control. It's simply not germane to my existence from an entertainment standpoint.

So here's to technology upgrades ... even if they piss you off a little.

Happy Streaming !

Elizabeth Barrett Browning would be 220 today
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
One of my favorite poets has always been Elizabeth Barrett Browning. She was an English Victorian poet known for her mastery of sonnets.

I went through a sonnet phase during the poetry writing aspect of my childhood which was the result of various reading assignments over the years. Though I wrote a few to correct meter and rhyme scheme they were somehow less than that which I may have liked.

The work of Elizabeth Barrett Browning addressed social issues like child labor and slavery during her lifetime and she was celebrated among both her peers and the public a large. She influenced poets who came later such as Emily Dickinson and Virginia Woolf.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861) was a celebrated English Victorian poet known for her mastery of sonnets, particularly Sonnets from the Portuguese, and her verse novel Aurora Leigh. She was a prominent, highly respected literary figure in Britain and the U.S. who addressed social issues like child labor and slavery.

She was staunchly abolitionist and wrote profusely on social injustices. I even feel that she influenced me to believe slavery was wrong from an early age.

She wrote a piece included in her celebrated "Sonnets from the Portuguese" called "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways". It was written for her husband, poet Robert Browning. I was far less of a fan of his during my poetry heyday.

She was born in Durham, England, on March 6, 1806. She was a child with prodigious reading skills who delved into both Milton and Shakespeare before age 10.

She suffered from chronic, debilitating illness from age 15, which led to a secluded life until she eloped with Robert Browning in 1846. She passed away in Florence, Italy, on June 29, 1861, likely due to heart failure following a, respiratory illness.

National Cheese Doodle Day 2026
Cheetos
I call a "Cheeto" a "cheese doodle".

There are others who dissent.

Today is National Cheese Doodle Day observed each March 5th.

It is an unofficial holiday meant to be "fun".

The snack originates around the mid 20th century, with popular belief attributing its creation to one Morrie Yohai at Old London Foods in the 1940s.

However similar items were available in the 1930s.

It is a food holiday said to be dedicated to enjoying cheese coated corn snacks such as puffs and balls and as such you are subject to orange fingers and a variety of other messy situations if you go there.

Cheetos are a big favorite of my mothers.

She consumes them while watching television.

I make it a point to get her a couple of bags when I get groceries for her weekly.

Conventional wisdom has it that the difference between Cheetos and cheese doodles is said to be balance of the flavor and the crunch.

I have always thought google is populated with the utterly stupid anyway.

World Obesity Day 2026
    Obese Couple
My childhood was marked by the fact that I was always the fat new kid with acne. This was a function of both dietary and health management faults for which I take full responsibility.

By the time I was 24 I was a mesomorph with a 32 inch waist, 56 inch chest, and huge arms. This lasted until I returned to South Carolina from Los Angeles and resumed my Kentucky Fried Chicken addiction.

Today is World Obesity Day.

Once observed each August 11 it is now an event held under the auspices of the questionable World Obesity Federation which is part of the incredulous World Health Organization each March 4 since 2020.

I personally feel that the World Health World Health Organization is an amalgamation of quacks who should be stricken from the record and taken out and shot.

If you are overweight it is primarily your responsibility to take charge and eliminate the problem. I, who was morbidly obese now find myself within normal weight limits.

This has nothing to do with the World Health Organization or the World Obesity Federation which I consider ruses to take control as much of the world as possible.

Barring any occult metabolic considerations you can do whatever is required to eliminate obesity in your lifetime
with out the subterfuge of the United Nations who simply
want to own you and your property.

Blood Moon 2026
blood moon

We have a lunar eclipse which will be visible on March 3, 2026 over North and Central America, East Asia and Australia.

This event is known as a 'blood Moon' lunar eclipse and occurs when the Moon is full.

This phenomenon whereby the moon in total eclipse appears red in color from sunlight filtered and refracted by the Earth's atmosphere.

The red color is believed by the more eclectic of us to represent strength, passion, and emotional cleansing.

In such traditions, this event is linked to balance and inner growth, reminding people to let go of what no longer supports their well being.

This dramatic red glow of the moon marks the total lunar eclipse.

The shadow of the earth completely covers a full moon, filtering sunlight through our atmosphere and turning the lunar surface a deep shade red.

It's an interesting sight to behold.

National Old Stuff Day 2026
    Old Stuff
Some of us are no longer the spring chickens we once were.

I recall my good friend from long ago at the Richland ER, Mr Lindy Funkhouser telling me how I was no longer a spring chicken back in a day when I really thought I was still young. Silly me !

Today is National Old Stuff Day.

It is celebrated each March 2nd and encourages us to break free from daily routines, declutter their homes, and find new uses for old items.

It is a day to, for example, clean out garages, rediscover, donate, or repurpose old belongings, or even change a long-held habit.

So get out there and attempt to declutter. I would emphasize this more but I personally have been having issues with this myself.

Try to break the routine and engage new things to enhance your existence.

Look back and enjoy those memories accumulated over a lifetime of occupying space and having weight.

Becoming "old stuff" is quite further along than the alternative.
