Workers Memorial Day 2026

    hardhat
I recall my old hardhat days working for a multinational construction firm.

I fit into the scheme of things rather like a garish set of mismatched shoes and quickly returned to teaching college rather than suffer another day at the whims of some stupid client civil engineer who thought he was the sun and the moon and the stars when he was is just another dumb ass getting in the way and breathing up all the air...

I "am not" and "never was" OVERHEAD.

Today is Workers' Memorial Day.

It is observed each April 28.

It is an international day of remembrance and action for workers killed, injured, disabled, or made ill by their work.

I suppose it doesn't count when it's just another stupid know-it-all civil engineer making you sick.

Their slogan is "Remember the dead — Fight for the living," and promotes the honoring of victims, supporting their families, and campaigning for safer working conditions.

It marks the day the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) went into effect in 1971, which brought workplace safety regulations in the US.

Workers Memorial Day emphasizes that safety is a fundamental right, advocating for stronger safety laws and better protection against workplace hazards.
