International Men's Day 2025
Being a heterosexual purist I am naturally more interested in the female form and involving the female in my life rather than other men by and large. Yes, I have men friends but they are not in possession of that true allure which drives me to seek that which is not the same as me.

Vive la difference !

Today is International Men's Day.

The purpose of the day is to promote positive male role models and to celebrate the positive contributions made by men to society.

Mens-Day
The emphasis is on community, marriage, child care, and the environment. The official theme for International Men's Day 2025 is "Celebrating Men and Boys". The act of promoting open conversations about men's physical, mental, and emotional health as well as challenging those negative stigmata surrounding men's well being have long been passe talking points for me personally.

I personally work toward making contributions toward cultivating a positive world as best so then I can and call it a day. The activists of the world could move in that regard as far as I am concerned — but all too many don't. I'm too old to take a stab at reinventing society. Go there all you wish.

Happy men's Day to you.

National Mickey Mouse Day 2025
Mickey Mouse Day 2025
Today is National Mickey Mouse Day.

It is celebrated every November 18 to commemorate the first appearance of the character in the 1928 animated short, "Steamboat Willie".

The day also represents Mickey Mouse's birthday and recognizes his status as a symbol of The Walt Disney Company.

The day is in celebration of the debut of Mickey Mouse in that animated short, Steamboat Willie, which was released on November 18, 1928.

It honors the character's popularity.

They say that you may celebrate by watching a Mickey Mouse movie, visiting a Disney park, or throwing a Mickey themed party. You poor no taste or life having human being.

All things Disney have been ruined by grandaughter of Walt Disney, Abigail who inherited everything then proceded to embark on it's ruination by changing long standing characters to pathetic woke empty versions of themselves with catastrophic failure of long standing plot lines and underlying stories.

Hold your breath til I ever celebrate Mickey Mouse again Abigail Disney..
.
Die woke idiot die. You ruined so much of cinema that wasn't even yours with which to meddle.

Roll over in that grave Walt Disney.

National Take a Hike Day 2025
    hike
I've taken quite a few hikes in my day. Most of them were voluntary. Others not so much.

Today is National Take a Hike Day.

It is held each November 17.

The day is a motivation to get out there and walk a few trails. The opportunities are endless and the 60,000 miles of trails pretty much assure an endless supply of healthful activity and scenic wonder.

Local, state and National Parks support hiking events on this day. A good pair of shoes are essential. Snacks are also a wise option. It is my personal opinion that bringing a buddy will enhance the safety. So get on out there and enjoy the fresh air, scenery, and partake of the exercise as well ! Those majestic vistas not withstanding it is simply good for the body and soul to get out there and do a bit of walkabout on the domestic front. There is a lot to offer if you care to partake.

Check your Wipers Day 2025
F150 Wipers

Windshield wipers guard your safety in bad weather. They are an essential component of good driving and should be checked for wear and tear at regular intervals.

Today is Check Your Wipers Day.

It is necessary for optimal visibility in rain, sleet and other precipation you may encounter while driving.

Michelin came up with the idea in 2021. It is a good idea to check those blades as a part of regularly scheduled maintenance:

Squeaking or other racket may indicate that the wipers are not connecting with the screen just right. They might simply need to be adjusted or replaced.

Streaks or scratches may indicate damaged rubber which does not effectively contact the windshield.

Cracks in the rubber are a further indication for excessive wear.

Bent wiper frames are an indication of physical damage — perhaps caused by wear, wind, or debris.

I typically go for the top of the line Bosch wiper blade or something similar as I have had good performance from them and that is what I value most in a consumable product.

If you are acquainted with others who are wiper blade challenged you might extend help to those in need of checking their wipers out during this time.

Happy Check your Wipers Day and be safe out there.

Georgia O'Keeffe was born in 1887
    Georgia Okeeffe
Georgia O’Keeffe is significant among American artists of the 20th century. She is renowned for her contribution to modern art.

She was born on November 15, 1887 and was the second of seven children. Georgia Totto O’Keeffe grew up on a farm near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

She decided to pursue art as a career at a young age and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York pursuing traditional painting technique. She experimented with abstract art forms for 2 years while teaching art in Texas. Her charcoal abstracts gave her personal insight to expressing her feelings and ideas.

There are many who like me felt that the elements of some of her work had the stark resemblence to female anatomy — particularly the flowers. Nonetheless she remains a tour de force in the world of art and will likely remain so for the forseeable future.

She was born November 15, 1887, near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and passed March 6, 1986, at Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is rememmbered for her large-format paintings of natural subjects and the skyscrapers of New York City as well as the architecture and landscape of northern New Mexico.

Rest in peace.

National Seat Belt Day 2025
No Seat Belts
I recall the idiot Senator John Land pushing for and getting a seat belt law in South Carolina.

I recall wishing someone would take a stick and ram a seat belt so far up his ass that he would wear it forever as a sign of his meddling into the lives of the voter.

I recall his retirement when I wished he would die.

Yes, I resent seat belts.

I think they are for pussies who need them and parents who have lost children do not need to be forcing their guilt for not taking better care of their children while traveling in automobiles on the rest of the voting public.

Senator John Land did not represent me in this endeavor.

He will remain a stain upon my memory of the backward inbred big nanny South Carolina laws in general.

While I feel sympathy for the family who lost their daughter resulting in this push which the stupid legislature forced on the rest of us I remain vehemently opposed to them and their actions as well.

We don't need people deciding what we must do just because some parent failed to guard their child's life and lost her.

    Nanny State
To hell with Senator John Land, retired senator who was a big nanny moron legislator. Wouldn't you know he's a stupid democrat.

To hell with the parents who lost their child due to neglegence and made us suffer for their failure.

To hell with the South Carolina seat belt law, big nanny government at it's very most imposing.

Gerard Butler's Birthday 2025
Mike Banning portrayed by Gerard Butler
One of my favorite action stars nouveaux is Gerard Butler.

When I first engaged his portrayal of Mike Banning in Olympus has Fallen I was sure we had a butt kicking winner on the cusp of international fame.

Such that it was became what it is. He is now one of the last words in take them out and count the bodies later type hero.

Gerard Butler is a Scot born in Paisley, Scotland, on November 13, 1969.

He took an abrupt career change from pre law to acting and he attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama toward that end.

He has done a lot of different types of characters over the years but first and foremost I pursue him as an action figure and hero in the best traditions of not taking any crap, kicking ass and taking names.

Today is his birthday. He is 56 years young today. I hope he makes many more action flicks in the vein of London has Fallen and Olympus has Fallen. Long live the action thriller and Gerard Butler ! What an incredible action star !

West Columbia has become most Uncivilized
Last week I was attacked by a high school student from Gray Collegiate Academy who obviously and mistakenly thinks I won't bust a cap in his stupid "high school Harry" head. I don't know his name, only that he was a scrub riding with someone in his brown subcompact automobile.

I rolled down my window and yelled "The speed limit is 40" after following them for several miles doing 20 miles per hour while the driver was texting on a cell phone.

The passenger jumped out of this vehicle and attacked me. He struck my windshield twice with a clenched fist and then kicked in my door all the while yelling threats.

Of course, there was no law enforcement in sight and I did not have my weapon with me at that moment.

Now I don't travel anywhere without my loaded firearm — which I intend to use in response to any and all further threats by black thug ass boys exhibiting that distinct lack of raising they have become known for — and this little asshole displayed.

I really don't care who "does" or "does not" like it either. Irate parents beware. Teach your children better than this. I have been pushed beyond my willingness to cope with ill behaved unmannered hellspawn.

Though this notion makes my dear mother very unhappy; it will be my pleasure to defend myself at each and every transgression of my personal safety in the future. This little thug had no right to threaten me for any reason and I will not tolerate any further incidents. I have a right and the ability to defend myself accurately from 300 feet.

I felt my life was endangered by an ill mannered stupid little boy I could have snuffed from a distance had I been prepared. I will never be unprepared again.

Black fragility be damned. Fuck you and die little zero character no redeeming value negro boy.

It is the birthday of Rodin
    Auguste Rodin
When I was a child I would look at "The Thinker" in awe and wonder about the meaning of the piece in relation to that who I was and would become.

It was sculpted by François Auguste René Rodin who was a French sculptor.

He was born on November 12, 1840 in Paris, France. He passed on November 17, 1917 at 77 years of age in Meudon, France.

His work began during the impressionistic period and continued through the modern art period.

He is considered by many to be the founder of modern sculpture.

He was trained traditionally and took a craftsman-like approach sculpture. He had an ability to model complexity, turbulence, and exquisite details in clay.

He was married and had two children.

Today is his birthday. We are at the 185th year of his birth.

Veteran's Day 2025
Today is Veterans Day.

It is a federal holiday. It is observed annually on November 11 and honors all those who have served in the U.S. military.

Federal employees are granted the day off, and many other businesses, state and local government offices, and schools are also closed in observance of the holiday.

Veterans Day is a legal holiday established by law. It is one of the 11 permanent federal holidays.

Federal buildings, post offices, and banks are closed, but other services like grocery stores and restaurants are often open.

I am a veteran of the US Navy. I don't expect special treatment. I do, however, enjoy attending the parade uptown at Sumter Street every now and then. Very few things give me the warm and fuzzies anymore.

Dave Loggins Birthday 2025
Dave Loggins

Since I was a kid I have enjoyed the music of Dave Loggins. He released "Please come to Boston" the year I graduated high school and I have indulged his performances until his passing last year. I have particularly enjoyed "Pieces of April" — both his version and all the many covers of the song.

David Allen Loggins was born November 10, 1947 and he passed on July 10, 2024.

He was an American singer, songwriter, and musician.

His most famous works include the 1974 hit single "Please Come to Boston" as well as his 1984 duet with Anne Murray entitled "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do".

He was born on November 10, 1947, in Mountain City, Tennessee. Prior to embarking on a career in music he worked as a draftsman and sold insurance. He is the second cousin, Kenny Loggins, another singer-songwriter who has passed this earthly existence after an illustrious career.

Mr Loggins died in Nashville at the age of 76.

Rest in peace.

Ecommerce takes TOO long to ship
I decline to be an "amazon prime" customer. I may buy certain items but I pay for the shipping and hold them in utter contempt unto the ends of the Earth. Furthermore, I decline to participate in online reviews and such rot because I'm spending my money on merchandise and that is my sole interest in the transaction. Some female wretch in India doesn't need to try and coerce me to submit a positive review for anyone in a group of people I find morally reprehensible.

I'm so sick of idiot companies like amazon and their ilk thinking they're some universal club that requires participation after the sale in areas better left alone. My only two nieces are thusly preoccupied lemmings under the spell of Amazon ... standing ready to cast themselves off the nearest cliff in the name of online ordering and prime delivery.

amazon lemmings

I love them both but they infuriate me to the nth degree with their pursuit of this affectation I refer to as amazonitis. There appears to be a preponderance of those who cannot think for themselves in my life. Particularly among the females I do not control. They get it honest, however being the product of similar parents.

So I get to continue waiting forever for my online orders to arrive. Amazon isn't the worst shipping problem, either. I'm pretty much totally giving up on ecommerce as of today. There are now very few outlets with whom I will conduct online business in the future. Enough is enough.

Boo !

National Dunce Day 2025
     dumb ass democrats

The classical dunce is someone who is stupid or slow witted. All the negativity of such connotation is totally deserved. Well now, the dunce cap — once a symbol of respected scholarship has become diminished and relegated to the the dullards of the world who now wear it as a symbol of all they AREN'T.

The dunce cap seems to be the creation of one John Duns Scotus of Duns, Scotland. He was a scholar and a Franciscan priest. It was thought to inspire the flow of wisdom and like most other things began as popular theory only to become a source of negative connotations — indeed becoming used by some teachers to embarass children who were underperformers or who displayed inappropriate behavior.

The word "dunce cap" appears derived from "Duns men" which devolved to "dunce". The observance of National Dunce Day on November 8 coincides with the death of that medieval scholar after whom it was named.

Today is National Dunce Day.

It is an item of intellectual curiosa to me personally having never experienced nor witnessed the application but I see absolutely no reason to celebrate stupidity or band behavior so I will refrain from any celebration of the cap, the idea, or the day.

I would think it highly appropriate to embark on the study of acquiring a new skill or subject matter expertise as a substitute for reveling in the stupid poor behavior so prevalent today anyway.

A good National Dunce Day to you. This day was made for that stupid group of people who are without redeeming quality whatsoever. The democrat party of the United States and the people of New York in particular who are so utterly stupid as to elect a socialist muslim invader to be mayor of that shithole.

Let the stupidity flow even more democrat scum.

Fountain Pen Day 2025
Kaweco Liliput Fountain Pen
There was a time when I favored the fountain pen as a writing instrument. I believe the time frame was high school and I was on a cursive handwriting kick which lasted into my early 20s. I practiced a lot and cultivated a decent freehand script for which I was complemented by many — with the most honor being derived from my good friend the late Dewitt Casey who often commented on my handwriting.

Nowadays the idiot school teachers don't believe cursive is a viable skill in the world so they have stopped teaching it in the local public school system. Further evidence for the fact that there should not be a public school system populated with a bunch of woke stupid bitches out to indoctrinate the students into their libtard world.

So the fountain pen is a writing instrument which features refillable reservoir for ink. The inki is delivered to a metal nib for writing via gravity and capillary action and in an ideal world this provides a continuous supply of ink.

The reservoir stores ink. This is made available from either a bottle, a cartridge, or a built-in mechanism like a piston or vacuum filler.

The nib is the metal tip of the pen that makes contact with the paper and deposits the ink. Nibs come in various sizes and shapes, which determine the line width.

The feed is a slit or channel which regulates the flow of ink from the reservoir to the nib.

Then there are the barrel and cap which form the outer encasement of the pen. The cap protects the nib and prevents the ink from drying out.

Fountain Pen Day is typically the first Friday in November annually. This places it on Friday, November 7th this year.

The purpose of the day is to embrace, promote and share the use of fountain pens.

However, my particular tastes have evolved to the text editor such as Notepad++ over the manual writing endeavors of my past. So much for a beautiful handwriting, eh Dewitt ?!
