At first glance you may have visions of merry maids coming by with soap and water to scrub your machine.
Suffice it to say that the "clean out" being mentioned here is a clearing of old obsolete items of data, cache, updates, temporary work files ...
You know, all those thing which were once in vogue with the operations of the machine but are required no longer. Then there is an optimization procedure which includes defragmentation and consolidation of the existing relevant information.
Today is National Clean Out Your Computer Day.
It goes down each second Monday of February making it February 9, 2026 this year and it is simply a reminder that you should digitally declutter, organize files, update software, and clean the physical hardware for better performance and security, tackling everything from old files to dust buildup.
It's a day to give your devices the "TLC" they need to run efficiently, much like cleaning a physical workspace. Actually, I view it more as SOP than TLC. The whole nature of TLC implies an emotional component I cannot visualize in a machine.
So boost that performance, enhance your security, improve your productivity during this time of National Clean Out Your Computer Day.
Out with the old and unnecessary. In with the new and updated.
