President John F Kennedy burial
    Murdered President John F Kennedy
After the assassination by John F Kennedy by government operatives such as Allen Welsh Dulles and George HW Bush he was interred at Arlington National Cemetery on this day in 1963.

A Requiem Mass was celebrated for Kennedy at the Cathedral of St Matthew the Apostle. He had an honor guard consisting of the 37th Cadet Class of the Irish Army.

Later his widow Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and their two deceased minor children were interred in the same plot. His grave is lit with an "Eternal Flame".

Ironically "I Have a Rendezvous with Death" by Alan Seeger was a favorite poem of the slain president and it is said that he often asked his wife to recite it.

In retrospect, John F Kennedy was killed by shadow government operatives under the auspices of The National Security Act of 1947 which was a law enacting major restructuring of the United States government's military and intelligence agencies following World War II implemented by the VERY shortsighted president Harry S Truman who simply gave the riff raff in government control with license to kill.

John F Kennedy was NEVER the totally unmitigated detriment to the country that the incompetent monetizing of public office Joseph Robinette Biden Jr and his administration are presently.

JFK grave Arlington
I Have a Rendezvous with Death

I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air—
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.

It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath—
It may be I shall pass him still.
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope of battered hill,
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.

God knows 'twere better to be deep
Pillowed in silk and scented down,
Where Love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse, and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear ...
But I've a rendezvous with Death
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips north again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.

Insensitive COVID-19 comments these days
I remember during the early AIDS era how I thought the notion of dying from AIDS was funny. My callous humor came to an abrupt end in the finest traditions of "And the Band Played On" and there were photographs which altered my attitudes with a single look.

So now we have individuals saying how COVID-19 is an ulterior motive by the almighty to 'thin the herd' ...

    coronavirus standup
Coronavirus and quarantine jokes are utterly inappropriate when people are legitimately sick and dying.

Now, while this does not inspire anything which might resemble 'righteous indignation' and I am far from one who thinks the threat is anywhere near the level purported by the power stealing democrats like Fauci and his idiots at the CDC — I am diametrically opposed to poking fun at the disease or it's victims.

I also feel that the diagnosis has been inappropriately applied to cases by hospital administrations seeking that additional funds it will generate.

MOST OF ALL I detest the Biden administration for his overreach and nazi tactics in the absence of a clear plan or even sentience when it comes to governance.

The democrat party is a failure. This administration has screwed up every aspect of life in these United States including but not limited to the COVID-19 situation which I also decline to call a pandemic.

I took your gd vaccine and you are attempting to evolve the rules and grasp at power more and more.

At this juncture I am ready for that payback of the ballot box ... now that the malfeasance of democrat controlled polls has been brought to light despite the airhead assurances of the moron AG Barr that it was all 'bullshit'.

A day of reckoning is coming.

Dwight Yoakam is talented
Dwight Yoakam
While Dwight Yoakam's main claim to fame is that of a musician, singer, and songwriter in the genres of country, country rock, honky-tonk, bluegrass the accolades he has received for this work has never really floated my boat. My fandom arose as the result of his acting and I must say he is just as talented in that regard as any of the music endeavors as well.

Dwight David Yoakam was born October 23, 1956 in Pikeville, Kentucky and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He grew into a musician who has been active in entertainment since 1980.

He has in excess of 20 charted albums and 30 singles to his credit. He has sold 30 or so million records, had 5 albums which attained number one on the Billboard charts, nine platinum and twelve gold albums including one which went triple platinum.

This is a lot of recording prowess.

Be all of this as it may it is his film career which has garnered my admiration with some of the televison a bit less so due to the type of entertainment endeavors the networks find presentable.

My first real encounter of his film work was the mean person named Doyle Hargraves in Sling Blade back in 1996. I thought the ending of this to be somewhat odd and a bit funny with the discussion of what needed to be done in followup to murder with a lawnmower blade. Then he played Raoul in Panic Room in 2002. Another mean guy portrayed to a tee. Then there was the Crank franchise where he played the physician to Chev Chellios named Doc Miles. He was hilarious in those.

Is Doc Miles going to have to choke a bitch?

Doc Miles to Chocolate in
Crank High Voltage
On teevee he played himself on Hee Haw, one of my late daddy's favorite programs. He was also a musical guest on Saturday Night live. He also played Lane Pratley on King of the Hill and Lyle Chumley on Under the Dome and did a good job with each and every role.

Today is Dwight Yoakam's birthday. Happy birthday to you !

New Workstation
     acer veriton x
Yesterday I got a new workstation. It is the latest in the Veriton X line by Acer.

While the machine is reasonably high powered I found it under provisioned and the thing is just another notebook in a small form factor case like the last one I had.

I installed a large capacity server grade hard disk into the box to augment the SSD which came installed.

Suffice it to say that my next machine will be built custom from selected components by me.

Computer vendors simply don't get it anymore.

The machine was built for someone who doesn't do anything.

I had to do without a machine for several days because even though I work in computers and NEEDED the machine my bank declined my debit purchase even though there were quite a bit MORE than ample funds available.

This has pretty much wrecked my relationship with them to a fairtheewell. I turned in my debit and credit cards and am presently pursuing other avenues.

So, uh thusly the business ends because you can't hide incompetence behind outsourcing. It still shines through.

Unsatisfactory ecommerce Banking
Security Federal Bank
I'm afraid that I have been forced to curtail the amount of business I have been doing with my 'hometown' bank. It seems that though I thought the only incompetents were their IT department, the entirety of their organization is permeated with dullards unable to do their own work and therefore forced to outsource.

My deal breaker came yesterday when they 'declined' a valid debit card charge as 'suspicious' for the second time.

This failure to learn from past mistakes can only be construed as stupidity.

Couple this with embarassing me in front of yet another vendor and voila, I'm in the new checking account and plastic market yet again. It's been a long time. They lost my insurance business as a consequence of this stupidity as well.

Outsource that.

World Menopause Day 2021
Not being of the female persuasion, I am theoretically not subject to menopause. However, I have heard other men laughingly accuse other men of being in menopause. My memories of the state in life surround my dear mother who suffered horrendous hot flashes and I could tell that she was in distress by these phenomena.

Therefore, I don't typically joke around regarding menopause given the shocking experience I have seen with it's appearance.
Menopause may be defined as the the ceasing of menstruation.

It typically becomes a period in the life of a woman between 45 and 50 years and is accompanied by hormonal changes which may or may not be controlled medically.

World Menopause Day is held annually on October 18th.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing.

It incorporates a global awareness raising campaign for women and professionals which includes materials distribution and events designed to engage people in what menopause is and create a village of informed individuals.

The theme for World Menopause Day 2021 is Bone health which is one of those hormone specific processes affected by menopause.

Pope John Paul II Day in Poland
John Paul II
I'm afraid that since the death of John Paul II my relationship with the Catholic church has suffered.

Knowing full well that San Giovanni Paolo II was indeed a tough act to follow, I'm afraid that catholicism has lost it's "A Game" as has so much else upon the planet.

Having roamed the streets of Rome on the day Pope Paul died as well as on the death of Pope John Paul I, the Pope formerly known as Karol Wojtyła has always been dear to my heart.

As a man of the people with that unfallible stalwart character inspired by the Spirit of the One True God — I have failed to discern this aspect of spirituality in the Holy See since he passed.

Today is Pope John Paul II Day which commemorates the election of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła as Pope.

It is observed annually each October 16 as established by the Polish Parliament in tribute to Pope John Paul II, who was first nonitalian Pope in 455 years.

On October 16, 1978, the Archbishop of Kraków Cardinal Karol Wojtyła was elected as Pope and took the papal name John Paul II. If ever there were a true 'Vicar of Christ' it was him.

The day was celebrated for the first time in 2001.

Honky can't hurt me
I heard a word I haven't heard in a while yesterday. The word was honky and it was being spoken by an older person to a younger person and I got the idea that the person being addressed had no clue as to it's meaning or context.

I found it all vastly amusing to see a person get all offended from a standpoint of ignorance. This person didn't know what was being said and was only reading the expression and tone of the one speaking.

Honky, much like buckra is a derogatory term directed toward white people by black people and is one of those mean spirited if not totally amusing epithets predominantly heard in the United States.

Some of us intimidate others to the point that individuals are inclined to keep these terms to themselves lest they incur the wrath of someone able and liable to inflict sufficient violence as a consequence ...

I, for one am a person to whom you don't cast many in the way of these terms because I am likely to pound you into the ground with one of the many hickory mattock handles I maintain in various corners of my home and automobile — or worse.

mattock handle

Be all of this as it may, I typically find these names amusing and don't really get riled over them in any social situation ... nor do I view them as particularly awkward or provoking.

It's just one of those things a people do to one another and they remind me of the early 1970's book Games People Play by Eric Berne. However, the game would be a new one in the context of that work.

If you are one of those who call names it's a parameter with which I can certainly deal. Just be wary of your company when you use provoking language lest you find yourself in some uncomfortable hypthetical situation secondary to letting your alligator mouth outdo your hummingbird ass.

Attack of the mail server discards
    discarded email
Anymore I discard the bulk of the latter day domains ICANN in their infinite wisdom decided were required by the world in their Jan 12, 2012 gTLD program. So if you have decided on one of these johnny-come-lately domains so in vogue by the spammers of the world you go for it.

I let through a subset of the original TLDs which have been around from the beginning, but even that list is seriously curtailed for purposes of spam avoidance.

.COM .NET .ORG .BIZ and other such longstanding mainstream TLDs are safe bets with me.

These people who think they crave 'unique TLD names' are much like our african bretheren who think their children need to have "unique" names they simply make up as though it will somehow make them precedents in the world at large when all it does is mess them up on the job front and provide racist cues to everyone else.

Me — I remain a purist. I utilize a subset of the original set of TLD names and don't filter them from sending mail to my network. All those other newer entries ICANN placed online a while back simply have no place in my existence and I decline to indulge them with routing to my destination.

I don't do the "reject" directive anymore. It simply gets you marked as a problem to the mail servers of the world. Your unwanted mail is still accepted at the server as if everything is hunky dory. It just never makes it to a client machine on the network. It's simply discarded at the server.

I'm always willing to accommodate ANY domain in use on the planet at the request of a bonafide correspondent. Just don't bother me with that spam traffic I just don't want or need.

Like the blog About paragraph says, if you're selling something please go elsewhere.

Claudius 4th Roman emperor died 1,967 years ago
Claudius
When I was a kid I was into mythology and the ancient cultures of the world. Rome interested me greatly having read of the Caesars and their various iterations throughout their family and some of the antics were astounding in my young orientation to the world.

In particular, Caligula and Nero caught my attention because of their depravity. Between them was Claudius, who was a much more stable and responsible figure in the procession of Rulers of the Roman Empire.

Claudius suffered an illness as a youngster which left him with a limp and slight deafness which caused him to be spurned by his family and caused his exclusion from public office until his consulship — which was shared with his nephew, Caligula in 37.

His health conditions likely saved him from the murder and persecution of other nobles during the purges of Tiberius and Caligula because he likely was not considered a serious threat. After the assassination of Caligula, as the last adult male of his family he was declared the fourth Roman emperor by the Praetorian Guard. He ruled from 41 to 54 AD.

Even in light of his limited experience he proved able and efficient in the administration of the Roman Empire. He expanded his administration and restored the finances of the empire after the excesses of Caligula. There were massive new construction projects including roads, aqueducts, canals, and buildings throughout the Empire which then began a successful conquest of Britain. He pursued the law vigorously presiding over public trials and issuing up to 20 edicts daily. His public viewed his micromanagement as vulnerability and he was continually defending his position — resulting in the deaths of many senators which over time damaged his reputation.

It is said that he was murdered by own wife, Agrippina the Younger on October 13, 54 AD. After his death at the age of 63, his grand-nephew and legally adopted step-son Nero succeeded him. He was interred at the Mausoleum of Augustus.

Hummingbird Feeder Countdown
    Humingbird Migration Patterns
I'm counting down the days til I remove the hummingbird feeders for the season. I have read in several places how there are species who remain in the state year long ...

But I simply don't think the traffic is worthwhile because they likely populate locations remote from my urban sprawl.

So the way I typically handle it is ten days without a bird sighting and I was and put away the hummingbird feeders. It would certainly be my pleasure to keep them going if I did not fear it would be to no avail.

All summer it's been an colorless 25% cane sugar solution and the birds have hit both feeders hard.

I replaced the large 32 oz Perky Pet My Best feeders with a pair of 16 oz Dr JB feeders after looking them over for about a year. They are easier to break down and clean and that is a plus for both my lazy streak and compulsive attention to detail.

I even think I now have some birds that are native to this immediate area. I have also noticed marked less skiddishness when I approach the window anymore. A couple of the older birds just sit there and look at me and the younger ones in general show no fear of me at all.

What a difference 15 years makes.

Anyway, I try to champion the hummingbirds as I can and if I determine they're still here the feeders will stay up for as long as necessary.

I figure my criteria is flexible enough to suit them.

Columbus Day 2021
Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria

I don't have a lot in store regarding Columbus Day. It has always been there in my life and it's primarily a day for sales in retail outlets in my orientation.

However, the history behind the day has never been lost on me and I have been a fan of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria since I was a sprout.

Today is another Columbus Day.

Columbus Day is a national holiday in many countries of the Americas and elsewhere, and a federal holiday in the United States, which officially celebrates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas on October 12, 1492.

The indigenous people, libtards, and Marxists such as BLM who would like change our existing history (as if that were possible) removing historical statues and replacing them with statues of drug abusing criminals such as George Floyd seek to have it among other history and historical figures changed to reflect their perverted notions of the nation but we simply won't have it.

Happy Columbus Day and BLM and other Marxist monetizing libtard idiots go to Hell.

F☠ck Indigenous People's Day.

Old Michaelmas Day 2021
Saint Michael the Archangel

I am of the Christian faith and believe in the Christian religious traditions. Many have been tainted by the pagan influences of holiday observance but I closely differentiate those 'traditions of men' from those religious traditions of mine.

This has brought my attitudes under fire by Christians who have not bothered to study or investigate ...

With many not ever having read a "true" translation of the Bible preferring the ones altered by scribes of the devil in an attempt to sway the true word from one which is patently false.

If you cannot trace The Word back to the original translations I personally believe your source to be suspect.

We who believe in God have a corresponding belief in angels. The Elohim, in whose image we are made consists of both YHVH, the one true God and his angels.

Angels have a hierarchy of their own with the topmost rank being that of archangel. The title Archangel refers to an angel of high rank. The title archangel itself is usually associated with the Abrahamic religions, but beings are found in a number of similar religious traditions.

Saint Michael is an archangel. He is a spiritual warrior in the battle of good versus evil. His attributes include champion of justice, healer of the sick, and guardian of the Church. Artistic representations of Saint Michael are typically depicted with him wielding a sword, a banner, or scales, and vanquishing Satan.

Old Michaelmas Day falls on October 11. This day may be construed as October 10 by some sources with those the dates being the result of the shift from Julian to Gregorian calendars. Thusly, that gap widens by a day every century except the current one.

It is said that the Devil fell out of Heaven on this date onto a blackberry bush whereby he cursed the fruit as he fell. According to an old legend, blackberries should not be picked after this date. Variations of the legend include the devil spitting or urinating upon them and the legend and it's variants are well known in all of Great Britain.
