I remember going through the old storage building at Grandma's and "plundering". In retrospect I wish I had never indulged. It would have been far better to leave her stuff to her and not bother it.
She never got angry with me about it — but I have had regrets since those days. Particularly since her death and those various things left unsaid left to taunt me in my old age.
Today is National Old Stuff Day.
It is observed on March 2 as a day for the cleaning out of closets and garages. It is also a time to rediscover old things you may have forgotten and to generally declutter your existence.
I think the accumulation of things over time calls for a little organization.
I used to frequent thrift stores until I began watching Paranormal Caught on Camera whereas I became afraid of items to which there could be some paranormal attachment which might make me regret the purchase.
Suffice it to say that I don't indulge thrift stores anymore.
Anyway, regardless of whether you do or don't today is a day for your old stuff to come to the fore and be dealt with one way or another.
Good luck with the sorting and decisions on whether to keep or dispose ...
It's your call and I certainly wouldn't deprive you of that ecstatic pleasure.

- International Ideas Month 2025

The theme of International Ideas Month is the potential of ideas. I have always been one to sit around an think things over. I also find myself short on ideas from time to time. I find that having a specific problem helps, like writing an algorithm to effect some programmatic operation ... but that too wains in my old age.
I think it's a function of one too many checks coming each month without having to get up and go to work.
Albert Einstein is my personal hero. This is due not only to his vast scientific accomplishments but those things between the lines that I gleaned from his writings. While his purview is not gadgets nor devices he certainly gave input regarding the background of how the universe works and Oppenheimer likely is forever in his debt.
Small ideas can lead to large discoveries. International Ideas Month is that catalyst which places it all at your disposal for use in that which you do.
Happy International Ideas Month and I hope your next idea is a Nobel prize winner.

Gilbert Jeremy Gottfried was born February 28, 1955 and passed April 12, 2022.
He was an American stand-up comedian and actor.
He was best known for his shrill tone, marked New York accent, that squint of his, and his oh so edgy, often controversial, sense of humor ...
Something I personally enjoyed to no end.
I used to watch his appearances on Hollywood Squares and most importantly I miss that spontaneity all too much of the world is lacking because they can neither think on their feet nor posess a sense of humor.
He did a lot of work in film and portrayed the Aflac duck until the pussies in charge of the company replaced him because they are stupid woke pieces of shit.
It was a sad day for me when Gilbert Goddfried died and I can only think of a million others I would have rather seen go instead.
Rest in peace and I will never forget you. Only the good die young.

- Retro Day 2025

I never have been much into retro anything.
I am a thoroughly modern man with modern tastes and state of the art implementations I maintain in my server cluster such that I am a fan of redundancy and servers with failover above all else these days.
The retrospect of the past has been reviewed over the years in books or experience and the way things were interests me less as time progresses.
Today is Retro Day.
It is celebrated each February 27 since 2018 under the auspices of Hermelinda Aguilar, Robert Duran, and Tina Duran.
My primary interest in it is it marks the rapidly approaching end of negro history month and that stupidity the blacks have brought upon us with their incessant whining for reparations they will never get and the fact that the Dutch bought them from black slave traders in Africa then brought them here as slaves.
Then there is the stupid notion taken among the indigineous crackers who naturally thought in error their stupid asses were somehow superior.
In essence, the term itself originated in 1972 to describe new remnants that that refer to particular techniques, modes, motifs, and materials of the past.
Please. You may keep the past. Aside from the memories I have no further designs upon it.
So happy Retro Day to you. Should you enjoy engaging elements of the past for whatever reason I think it's wonderful. The fact that I choose not to is absolutely no reflection on your choice.
It takes different people to comprise a world.

- Black Lives Matter Day 2025

Black Lives Matter is a farce. It is the product of three criminal bitches who took the world to the cleaners in the name of racial equity which had absolutely nothing to do with the negro mess.
Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi allegedly began BLM in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Stupid criminal negro bitches to charity to the cleaners over fake claims.
Trayvon Martin was a common cheapshot thug portrayed as an innocent by the blacks who denied that which he really was.
The thug got what he had coming.
George Floyd was a drug addict who died of an overdose but the group likewise pinned that on whitey.
There's going to be a day of reckoning over the lying black people of the world. Those who misrepresent their criminal elements in the name of taking charity to the cleaners.
Black lives don't matter any more than those of anyone else.
Getting over on charity. That is the name of BLMs game so they can add to their collection of multimillion dollar real estate in the name of subterfuge.

- Quiet Day 2025

When I was in high school I would sometimes get in trouble for not being quiet at appropriate times. I was thrown out of the library a couple of times and called down in several classes.
Nowadays I typically err on the quiet side, i.e., I am much more likely to refrain from commentary or interaction of any kind primarily due to that contempt I have cultivated for that stupidity exhibited by my fellow man over the years.
I try to keep it all under control, however and I am exceedingly aware of my public comportment and strive to be socially acceptable in all situations.
Today is Quiet Day.
It happens each February 25.
The day is about taking a pause and appreciating the sound of silence.
Diminished noise can be a blessing under the appropriate circumstances.
My main need for quiet involves collecting my thoughts or making preparations for some presentation ...
Or even just getting more centered during my day.
It's something I feel everyone should pursue as it fits your lifestyle.

Bought a new 2024 F150 Crew Cab.
Black interior. Black exterior.
Bells and whistles out the yinyang.
Perhaps a little much on the connectivity.
I'm really not one for google anything.
All kinds of passenger room.
It is a fun large quiet ride.
They didn't give me as much as I wanted for my trade but I did push for an extra 500 that I did get.
Didn't want you to see me out there wondering what happened.

- World Bartender Day 2025

When I was younger I knew a fair number of bartenders by first name.
This is because I would frequent those various watering holes they inhabited and would subsequently drop a bit of cash on them for both their wares and as tips.
Memories of my Navy hitch make me recall one place in particular in Charleston, SC down the dual lane from Mama Kate's (another place I frequented) on the same side of the road.
It was a white unassuming building and when you entered you were greeted with overstuffed chairs, tables and booths, as well as friendly people with whom to chat, grunts pursuing old fugly dog faced women as though they were beauty queens, and the most massive Marantz stereo I had ever seen attached to 8 quadrophonically wired Klipschorn La Scala speakers. T'was audiophile heaven for sure with all the brewskis you could handle.
There is no wonder I would gravitate there frequently with Jerry Landry and others.
All of this ended when I reached the end of my hitch in the Navy.
Sure, I continued for a brief time but those pressures associated with earning a living took precedence quickly and alas, I sought a more responsible, less alcoholic existence. The crux of my existence became finding the suitable employment which eluded me for a couple of years after my enlistment.
Today is World Bartender Day.
It is a February 24 observance to make note of those pillars of the hospitality field, the bartender.
So, should you find yourself out and about you may choose to knock a few down the old hatch and cop a buzz as it were.

- Jerry Butler RIP

Yesterday Jerry Butler, aka "The Ice Man" passed away at age 85.
Now, I wouldn't mention it but he was one of those artists which I listened to in high school and as a result I received chastisement from my country and western cohorts who thought it odd that a white boy would enjoy black performing artists.
Be all of that as it may I did indeed listen to the black performers of that time frame and yes, I took the criticism in stride as I have always been fairly independent when it came to my musical tastes.
Jerry Butler was born December 8, 1939 in Sunflower, Mississippi. He passed at age 85 in Chicago on February 20, 2025.
He was a Singer-songwriter, Record producer, Multi-instrumentalist, and Politician who was active from 1958 through 2018. It is noteworthy that he was the original lead singer of the R&B vocal group the Impressions. He played R&B soul Chicago soul Philadelphia soul and was a vocalist who played guitar, bass, saxophone, piano, and drums for the Abner, Vee-Jay, Mercury, Motown, and Rhino labels.
He was, of course a libtard democrat but I tend to overlook performers and such politics in favor of their art.
He was married to Annette Butler in 1959 and she passed in 2019.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2015.
Rest in peace to a childhood favorite of mine.

I have always liked ceramic tile applications, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms.
The appearance just always seemed appropriate in my eyes in the context of architecture.
Today is National Tile Day.
It is observed each February 23 and celebrates the aesthetics of tile in building.
Tiles are something which has appeared in buildings since ancient times.
I recall the fine work I saw in the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum as well as those in Athens.
The walls and floors were frequently presented a standalone mosaic artwork before me.
It struck a chord with me as a decorative motif to which I could grow accustomed in my own home.

- Be Humble Day 2025

Hmmmm. Humble.
I have never been one I consider to be 'humble'.
Not that I don't have my quiet and introspective moments.
I'm just not one of these meek types which shuns confrontation. Indeed, it may be said that I like the rough stuff and pursue the fray. Deferential and submissive respect simply are not my strong suits. I might beat your ass if you FAFO.
It's mostly that I keep a lot of that boisterousness of which I frequently partake under tight wraps in the name of acceptable public comportment. After all good manners have their place and I do make attempts at avoiding pretentiousness.
Today is Be Humble Day.
It's a February 22 observance which stresses the importance of being humble.
The orgins of this day are obscure.
Exercising self control and personal joy are virtues to be sure.
Sometimes I am boastful but this too I try to keep to myself in my old age.
So whether you're naturally humble or like me, having to force the issue today is that day where we are less rowdy and less assertive and much less braggadocio and more ...
Humble.

- National Care Givers Day 2025

I have been engaged in the provision of care to patients earlier in my lifetime.
There were two spates at the SC State Hospital as a "mental health specialist" until my frustration level went through the roof.
I did time at two county emergency rooms as well. Then I enlisted in the Navy and my career path started taking a different tack through til the now.
In my retirement, I simply take care of Mom because she needs someone to be there.
Today is National Care Givers Day. It is observed on the third Friday in February which makes it on the twenty first this year.
It notes those who provide personal care, and physical and/or emotional support to those who need it most.
People like Mama.
So while I am by no means a professional care giver these days; I do take the time to tend to those needs which may not be met by others in the family.
If she requires medical attention, we go.
If she needs a dentist, we go.
If she requires the fetching of prescriptions and such to her, I go.
Her needs dictate what happens on the healthcare front.
She took care of me when I was a kid. Now I'm returning the favor.
It's a sometimes difficult task but our elderly need to be able to rely on people to fill the role of care giver as required.
People like me.

- Clean Out Your Bookcase Day 2025

A while back my mammy had boxes of books laying around in strategic places.
I brought a cherry bookcase from my house and placed it into her office with a subsequent migration of all that reading material ...
And a few other select items as well.
I even used the very top of it for some of those maintenance items I utilize around her house.
Today is Clean Out Your Bookcase Day.
It goes down each February 20 and is ostensibly a day to clean up and organize your bookcase.
It has always been gratifying to see how well she took to the piece of furniture in her office.
It has become pretty central to the space and sits on the wall opposite her computer.
I don't really foresee any book relocation in this process but it remains nice to see how much she likes having the bookcase around.

It is the anniversary of the birthday of HRH Andrew Albert Christian Edward of the House of Windsor, Duke of York. He was born at Buckingham Palace in London, England on this day in 1960. He is divorced from Sarah Ferguson and has two children, the princesses Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
His parents were Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and Elizabeth II.
He is a graduate of both Gordonstoun and the Britannia Royal Naval College and served in the Royal Navy from 1979 through 2001. He attained the rank of Vice Admiral and fought in the Falklands War.
Prince Andrew is a member of the British royal family. He is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and a younger brother of King Charles III. Andrew was born second in the line of succession to the British throne and is now eighth, and the first person in the line who is not a descendant of the reigning monarch.
His brother the King is attempting to rout him from the royal residences for which he is putting up a fight. He is suffering the consequences of that sequela borne of his association with Jeffrey Epstein and others.
Though unseemly, family is family and I personally find his own brother attempting to punish him to be petty and repugnant — totally lacking any semblence of behavior one might call 'regal'. One with his obvious lack of taste in women should be much more keenly aware of his public comportment than he is. However, the entire family is pretty much known for kicking family members, particularly when they are down.
In evidence I give you Sarah Margaret Ferguson and Diana Frances Spencer; who were both soundly kicked when they were down by much of the entire royal family. Some family lives are much more difficult than others.
