I once had a total aversion to rats. This abated over time as I grew to utilize them in school and though I never became the owner of any pet rats ...
I could tolerate them quite well.
Today is World Rat Day.
It is observed each April 4 in an effort to curb the very bad reputation they have acquired since say ...
The bubonic plague or so.
Rat enthusiasts seek tolerance for the species and Rodentia Rattus is likely to be here after we are all gone.
They are intelligent and cunning as far as animals go and the rat, unlike other rodent pets will go out of it's way to entertain and interact with you. Contrast this with the gerbil, of which I have owned many — which will sit there, look at you, and cohabitate while eating your food and shunning you otherwise.
So hate them or love them the rat is here to stay and today is their day.
