World Water Day 2025
World Water Day

Water.

That constituent of the world without which we all would die quickly.

Easily taken for granted, there's a lot which goes into water safety for populated areas such as incorporated municipalities.

Some people do not enjoy the level of clean safe drinking water we have in the United States.

So now we have World Water Day to draw attention to the life sustaining human issues associated with water quality and quantity.

World Water Day is held each March 22.

It is held under the auspices of the United Nations who think they need to control every aspect of your existence, tell you where you may and may not live, and kill you if you don't comply.

While the United Nations will never gain my respect at this juncture, water remains a high priority in my life.

The UN just seeks to manipulate your government into compliance so they can force their will upon you all in the name of that pie in the sky fallacy called "sustainability".

It's simply a fairly stupid ruse of theirs to gain undue control of the world.

World Down Syndrome Day 2025
    model with Down Syudrome
When I was a child the subject of Down Syndrome was treated as a nightmare for the parents of such an affected child.

The condition, aka trisomy 21 is the result of an extra full or partial copy of the 21st chromosome.

It affects some 6000 births annually.

So the 21st of March was chosen to represent this condition in an observance called World Down Syndrome Day.

It is an event for the raising of public awareness and well being of those living with Down Syndrome.

The inclusivity and advocacy of these citizens of the world are likewise a big part of the observance.

It is sad to note that there was once (and still remains) a genetic screening process to promote the abortion of Down Syndrome children.

Luckily, with the discovery of that scam which is planned parenthood the democrats no longer get to murder children wholesale as they would like and have in the past.

I personally have friends with down syndrome and they are without exception happy, caring, sharing, interesting, and engaging.

You don't have to function at some genius level to be more than adequate in the world.

It takes all kinds of people.

I hope you will observe World Down Syndrome Day as I do in an effort to understand and include those whom you might otherwise overlook.

Spring Equinox 2025
spring equinox 2025 at stonehenge

Hey hey hey ... it's the spring equinox.

The spring equinox, aka the vernal equinox and sometimes the "March" equinox, occurs when the sun crosses the celestial equator south to north.

On this day the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere receive roughly equal amounts of sunlight.

It's also a hallmark of the change of the seasons.

It will happen March 20, marking the beginning of astronomical spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

Taking 21st Century Hints
take a hint
I've been noticing all of the free advice being batted around my way in the threads.

I have a number of people who think they spout purest canon of subject matter expertise and that I need to be their humble bitch and at their beck and call as they require.

In my never ending attempt to maintain suitable decorum and not be intentionally hurtful I typically relegate these people to the "in one ear and out the other" processing channel.

However, I've had a couple of people who really think they are of deep thought and warrant constant attention and discussion beyond the usual dull and commonplace.

So, I'm afraid I've allowed my comportment to slip a few times — and I'm afraid a few feelings were hurt.

Naturally, I have always been one for reconciliation and fence mending but there comes a time when people just need to go away.

However, some of these people choose NOT to just go away ...

Consequently, I have been forced to resort to the internals of the mail server to simply route them to the bit bucket where they belong never to darken my inbox again.

All of this is transparent to the advisor wannabe.

It's a sad notion to think that people can't take a hint.

I have always been one to take a hint when it's thrown my way.

But also, I have never felt the need to impose my ideas and opinions on anyone.

To Play, or NOT to Play
    Lottery Shoot Out

To play, or NOT to play ... that is the SC Lottery question ...

With the loss of Lucky for Life due to the stupid leadership of the state and that impending change of the Megamillions games along with the ALREADY too many changes to Powerball it's looking as though I shall wish to withdraw from the games.

However, I continue to ask myself, "am I willing up to give up the chance" ...

That chance to score big should lightning strike.

I began playing both the powerball and megamillions losers back in 2002, a year after the passing of my daddy.

I simply didn't believe that I was one of those who would turn out to be the never ending loser at both games to the point that the only one benefiting from my play is the lottery vendor and the national and state creeps running the show.

I personally don't give a rats ass about public education NOR the children in public schools.

Personally, that ship sailed long ago and there is nothing left in that regard.

Look, I did my time — and my financial contributions to the SC Education Lottery are simply resented ad nauseum at this late stage of the games.

I personally find the notion of doing away with the public school system to be preferable to this fountain of cash continually shooting out of my ass.

While my thoughts remain harsh I feel the play will likely continue at some level in the future.

Where that may be I simply cannot say.

Act Happy Day 2025
People Acting Happy

Act Happy Day is another one of those observances designed for other people.

Sure, I act happy when the circumstances warrant, but by and large I try to maintain a reserved composure about myself ...

Act Happy Day is observed annually on the third Monday of March.

It began some 20 years ago under the auspices of one Dr Dale Anderson working in biomechanical medicine and patient education who felt that acting happy could initiate positive changes in life.

The perception of a good state of mind is said to strengthen relationships with the spouse or other family members.

The crux of it all seems to be take time to lighten the mood.

So if this is for you by all means go for it.

Please don't be offended if some of us maintain a certain aloofness about it all.

Something regarding the proliferation of a lot of pollyana posturing makes me feel that I'm likely dealing with someone who is basically goofy.

All in all your happiness shouldn't just be an act.

Judge Roy Bean
    Judge Roy Bean
Those entertainment choices I undertook while younger reveal a propensity for westerns early on.

There was a recurring character in this genra called Judge Roy Bean.

He was an American saloon keeper and Justice of the Peace in Val Verde County, Texas and became the stuff of legend recorded on the silver screen.

Phantly Roy Bean Jr was born circa 1825 and died on March 16, 1903. He was known as "The Only Law West of the Pecos".

According to legend, he held court in his saloon along the Rio Grande on a desolate stretch of the Chihuahuan Desert of southwest Texas.

He was rather incorrectly portrayed as a 'hanging judge' in those media in which he was featured because he sentenced just two men to hang and one of these escaped.

Be all of this as it may Judge Roy Bean was part and parcel of both my history and entertainment when I was a boy.

I am happy to include him in my life for those reasons.

True Confessions Day 2025
boring Dave
Were I a much younger man I would likely have a few true confessions of interest.

However, this being now and me being me I'm afraid all the juicy stuff was surrendered long ago and I no longer have a bunch of skeletons in the closet to bring out and shake anymore.

True Confessions Day goes down each March 15 ...

The Ides of March.

It is held under the auspices of Thomas and Ruth Roy from Wellcat Holidays since 2016.

It is said that we all have secrets and that some are big while others are small.

I'd like to say yeah 'me too' but it's simply not the case anymore.

I pay attention to public comportment and try not to be intentionally offensive as I once delighted in doing.

I really live a dull drab boring life in my old age.

My propensity for controversial behaviors ended some 30 years back and I really have no interest in enteraining the masses with further antics.

Suffice it to say that I've attempted to calm down.

National Potato Chip Day 2025
wavy potato chips
I consume a fair amount of potato chips over the course of a year.

I have even taken to buying my supply in bulk so that they all won't become pilfered by some snack seeking family member.

These thin slices of potato are typically deep fried or baked to crunchy perfection and often served with french onion or other type of dip.

Potato chips predominate the snack food markets in English-speaking countries — particularly the United States.

On National Potato Chip Day they will be consumed by millions of people across the country.

I typically keep a bag over at mamas for those times when the urge hits me ...

There are worst ways to spend your time.

Happy National Potato Chip Day.

National Jewel Day 2025
Tiffany 71 Carat Diamond Gold Platinum

Jewelry. Bling. That accoutrement with which we accessorize our public personas.

Jewelry has been a human favorite since prehistory.

The adornment of people has been a priority since time began.

Today is National Jewel Day.

It is held each March 13 and recognizes precious metals and stones, those special heirlooms, and the various gems of people who craft them.

The origins of the day remain obscure. We know that stone, bones, and shells were utilized as decorative objects to project status.

The graves of ancients oftent revealed an ancient proclivity for the wearing of jewelry.

The Renaissance brought new cutting techniques and an advanced understanding of stones and the metallurgy of crafting various pieces.

All in all jewelry isn't going anywhere.

I know males of the species who project this "he man" image who squeal like little girls over various pieces of new jewelry. I don't want to mention any names Vince Simonowicz.

Me, I'm pretty much jewelry free, you know, contrary to the end.

National Plant a Flower Day 2025
    potted plants
I don't have one of those 'green thumbs'.

Indeed, my attempts at ornamental horticulture have been universally unsuccessful due to that lack of growing skills so evident in many of my ancestors.

Grandma Sallie, Grandma Ida, Auntie Laura, even my sister's gigantic alien appearing aloe vera in her kitchen. They are all related to me. They all grew prolific flower beds or other examples of plants and all I could ever do is admire them.

Today is National Plant Flower Day.

It is held on March 12 annually in the name of blooms and foliage everywhere.

Flowering plants often provide foodstuffs that are vital to the lives of people.

I personally enjoy viewing the flowers planted by others and wistfully imagine myself as growing similar examples of them myself.

Flowers are uplifting and their beauty has become symbolic over the years and across the cultures of the world.

National No Code Day 2025
no code surprise
I am a coder. Since the late 1970s. I write code for machines on the internet and local as well as wide area networks of the world. I am not one of these sissy oop people who think they can drag and drop their way to efficacy. The stupidity which is the no code environment has never been for me.

Today is National No-Code Day.

It is observed each March 11 and marks those individuals, businesses, and other networks that create and automate without using code as the idiotic entities they are.

This day aims to promote the no-code movement and create awareness for businesses and organizations to do more without code. As long as you suspend oversight the no-code tools allow anyone to automate workflows, connect and create apps, and build scalable systems for their entire company.

No Code Day is for the computer unprofessional.

Personally, I like the structured programming environment in an office without the continual distractions to be had in incorporated municipalities where everybody thinks you need to drop what you're doing and satisfy their requirements immediately.

In a word, National No Code Day is for people who simply don't know what's going on.

Dumb right on down there, bossy.

National Napping Day 2025
    napping
I'm quite the napper these days. I am known to take several throughout the day then sleep all night as well.

I view it all as a function of failure to exercise and that fleeting grasp I have on reality due to the decline of my mother and my failure to keep a proper handle on it all.

My siblings are no help in the matter, either.

In other words I appear to be losing my ever loving mind.

Today is National Napping Day.

It is held under the auspices of a Boston University professor and his wife.

One William Anthony PhD and his wife Camille Anthony created the holiday to increase awareness on the importance of getting enough sleep and its benefits.

I personally feel you can over do it as well.

So seeing how I don't live in Tiajuana I really don't feel a siesta is appropriate to my existence.

However, I acknowledge the fact that I nap often ... perhaps TOO often.

Happy National Napping Day to you.

Spring Ahead 2025
2 am
Daylight Savings Time began at 2 am this morning.

The practice of advancing clocks an hour from standard time during the summer months then reverting back in the autumn is supposedly a better use of natural daylight.

There are two states in the nation which opt out. Both are democrat shitholes.

I personally feel that there should be no 'opt out' option.

Moron states which do not wish to be in sync with the country should be kicked out and their elected officials all executed.

They say that the idea of saving daylight hours originated with Benjamin Franklin. Of course, he lacked today's modern ammentities in indoor lighting and such.

One William Willet was the original proponent who spent much of his own funds promoting the idea to the ridicule of many of his contemporaries.

Whether you dislike Daylight Savings Time or love it the bulk of the nation does this and you should get with the program ... Arizona and Hawaii.

Alas, I really don't really care one way or another. I just feel that there should be no "opt out" of this thing, i.e., it should be all or nothing.

I feel that the notion of "saving daylight" is somewhat passe in this twenty first century age and time.

So if you haven't already, "Spring forward".
