Loyalty Day 2019
Loyalty
May first is Loyalty Day "for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom."

It derives it's origin from the "Red Scares" of the 1920s through the 1950s which were first instigated then corrupted by the alcoholic manipulations of the Chair of Senate Government Operations Committee, one Joseph McCarthy who attempted to strong arm the country into fears of pending communist takeover with what were mostly mechanations of his legal counsel, the deviant Roy Cohn.

So take a moment and try to be thankful for what you have regardless of the idiotic rantings of the democratic party and their subservient SJW, antifa, muslim, and socialist minons. They will get theirs quite soon enough.

Honesty Day 2019

This day is about honesty and straightforward communication in politics, relationships, consumer relations and historical education.

It was established by one M Hirsh Goldberg who chose the last day of April being the end of that month containing "April Fools Day" and it is the anniversary of George Washington's first inaugration on April 30 in the year 1798.

Well ... given the present state of honesty in the democratic party I fear that we will never know any modicum of either truthfulness nor grasp of reality from them since they have spawned the idiot socialists Bernie Sanders and the mule faced moron socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez whose understanding of academia and notions of things real is surpassed only by her foul personality and absence of good judgement and reality otherwise.

Father I cannot tell a lie

Unfortunately, the sad state of affairs of public eduction which has been all but ruined by the leftist proponents who chose indoctrination over education has left the suceeding generations less than adequately versed in critical thinking as evidenced by their pitiful rants regarding the same tired untrue notions of identity politics, the fallacy called 'transsexuality' and those other aspects of these failures to recognize just who and what we are in the context of "being".

Suffice it to say that these are dark days for the concept of honesty and I dare add that it is likely to end only with the advent of guerrilla warfare upon the falsehoods propagated by the left.

In all honesty, enough is enough ALREADY.

Pondering the age of Sixty Four
Paul McCartney singing When I'm 64
So I'm at this iconic age ... 64 years old. Ive only been here for eleven days and I must say I don't feel any differently than I did at 54 — about that time I took my current job and embarked on an exciting career in municipal government. Hell, I don't know if I'll ever retire but at least I can do the work.

The love front remains static and on my own terms. I gave up the pursuit of companionship some 15 years back and I have to say that it hasn't really impacted anything inasmuch as my amorous pursuits remain as they were and I continue to find them satisfactory.

Early on I really did see myself as a grandfather at this stage of the game but I've given up on all that too; barring the appearance of some unbeknownst baby mama like the many potential candidates of which I am familiar.

All-in-all I'm fine with the notion of being single and knowing where I am in the big scheme of things.

Still, there's this part of me which ponders the 'what ifs' and the 'if onlys' as though they really might make a difference.

Likely, they won't.

When I'm 64

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a Valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds Who could ask for more

Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four

Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four

Vibrio vulnificus and Me
While perusing the news threads as is my daily habit I ran across health warnings for seafood contaiminated with a gram negative bacteria called vibrio vulnificus which is said to be making the rounds and is quite prevalent and even more deadly.

    vibrio vulnificus
Actually the thing that caught my eye was the admonition that 'older fat men' need to be most worried.

Being an older fat guy I naturally took notice and got the information I wanted regarding just what the risks are ... but really failed to see how they appertain to me personally.

It turns out that researchers think that the bacteria may be looking at older fat or chubby men as 'easy targets' at which I pretty much cast scorn in light of such unscientific generalizations ... but boy the news threads are pushing the spin vigorously.

First, the bacteria is indigenous to coastal estuaries and the like and has been vectoring primarily through the consumption of raw shellfish. It is said that contracting this bacteria can cause death in as little as a day or two. The "lucky" ones merely lose an appendage or two and are concentrated primarily in the raw oyster eating populations. However, beachgoers have also contracted the bacteria from proximity in the waters they inhabit and therein lay the morbidity.

You can cook seafood. You can't boil the beaches to kill the bacteria prior to utilizing the shore for recreation.

Thoroughly cooked seafood will kill those germs including vibrio vulnificus bacteria.
Hygiene is emphasized with recommendations that include washing kitchen utensils in hot soapy water.
Avoiding raw seafood material including those juices which typically are part and parcel of newly unpackaged seafood.
The primary treatments are antibiotics, surgery, and amputation.
The prognosis in full blown cases is grim.

Dead is Dead
Lockheed Martin Joint Air-to-Ground missile
The news threads are talking about how Al Qaeda is resurgent and ISIS is on the rebound.

What's wrong with this picture ?

Someone obviously thinks they were dead when they weren't. This business of claiming victory over terrorist organizations when said victory is in actuality merely the thinning of some stronghold or two is totally unsatisfactory.

Had there been sufficient death in the rolls of Al Qaeda and ISIS there would be no news threads reporting such pitiful information such as the suspicion of rebounding and resurgent terrorist organizations.

Dead terrorists can't regroup. The intelligence community needs to act on our behalf and the military needs to clear this vermin from the world once and for all.

While you're at it we could get rid of the northern tier terrorist proponents mouthy ass Rep Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) and her decidedly unamerican cohort Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich) who were sworn into the 116th Congress when they should have been deported with their families and everyone who voted for them.

We're not taking a sufficiently strong stance against these usurpers of the United States of America.

Earth Day 2019
Earth Day 2019
I have never been a 'tree hugger'. This being said I am not a proponent of pollution either.

Situations like the great pacific garbage patch and the abominal pollution in India and the Russian Federation bring me great distress due to the utter lack of clean up happening ... and

Let's not get into Ōkuma, Fukushima Prefecture of Japan or the Chernobyl diaster near Pripyat, northern Soviet Ukraine.

Then there are the wholesale slaughter of marine mammals and over fishing and the massive deforestation of the Amazon basin.

Today is Earth Day that annual event celebrated internationally each April 22 in support of environmental protection.

Originally celebrated in 1970, Earth Day has blossomed with various events in more than 193 countries. These are are coordinated by the Earth Day Network.

Happy Earth Day.

The Tao of George T Conway III
George T Conway III
Yellow Journalism Rag greenwichtime.com has an opine by insipid loudmouth and political barrow and self annointed antiTrump critic George Conway entitled George Conway: Trump is a cancer on the presidency. Congress should remove him.

Tedious and vindictive, he has undertaken a long standing vendetta against the president because of his wife who is a counsellor to the president and various potential administration assignments which didn't pan out.

While his porcine visage has been sought out by the left since his emergence as one who would lead The Republic "out of those clutches" of what has turned out to be a most excellent chief executive and executive branch in my entire lifetime ...

Not counting John F Kennedy whose administration IMHO was cut short by the CIA, George Bush, and Lyndon B Johnson — he is indeed sullied by his personal failures to the point that all he can do is spew bitter vitriol consisting of unsubstaniated commentary much like the rest of the leftist nonsense we call the democratic party.

Be all of this as it may I would merely request that George Conway shut his stupid mouth for it is far better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

George T Conway III is a fool of the political arena and one of those many legends in his own mind who would seek to influence others to go astray as far as he has in an effort to lead everyone down that same worn out primrose path taken by the idiopathic miscreants of the other leftist elements of our nation. At one time he was a Republican. He has abandoned the tao and for him there will be no rebirth.

He is a cancer on the butt of the United States of America and as such should cart himself elsewhere.

The problem with the left worsens
  right to left
The problem with the left is an absence of consequences. They fire themselves up to direct consequences toward everyone but those true problems in The Republic ... namely them, their ridiculous platform elements, and those subgenius bartender and insulting contemptuous islamic morons coupled — with their pie in the sky socialist counterparts.

By the way, Islamophobia as well as all of the other misnomer phobic declarations are based on a word meaning 'fear'. There is no fear here. Just a big case of 'fed up' with that lack of reality permeating the political landscape.

How long must we endure this utter lack of meaning, derrogotory philosphies, and faulty rhetoric? There are those of us who will never surrender their firearms, subscribe to the rantings of leftist idiots, nor submit to sharia ... ever.

No so-called search engine filtering out the truth, no social media hiding the voices of the many to promote the lies of the few, no dingbat technology thieving college dropout is going to prevail here. That simmering pot will eventually boil right on over as it's doing periodically already.

Sleep Mythology and Potentials for Harm
I was on The Sun news website and ran across an interesting article by Gemma Mullin regarding common sleep mythology and the harmfulness some of the assumptions regarding sleep and events during slumber will impart to the human body.

• You can get by on less than five hours sleep
• Snoring is harmless
• Booze for bed boosts sleep
• Watching TV helps you unwind
• Snoozing your alarm isn't that bad for you

It has been my experience that massive amounts of sleep don't turn you into a superman. My time working at the handbell place afforded a workday which began at 5 to 6 am and ended at about 2 pm. So nowadays I pursue this 2 hour nap in the afternoons and I really would just as soon stay awake but find it somewhat difficult to acclimatize myself thusly.

Serta Sheep
Limited sleep time has been studied and contributes to cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and strokes as well as shorter life expectancy.

However, I fail to see how more than adequate sleep might ameliorate such potential.

I have heard many times how harmless snoring is during the course of sleep.

My biological father had a stupendous snore about his slumber and it was about that time I unsuccessfully attempted to ascertain if I snore during sleep. Alas, that information continues to elude me. Snoring is said to possibily be symptomatic of sleep apnea and as such is indeed potentially hazardous to the health.

Drinking before bed is said to inhibit that deep REM sleep essential for the process refreshment we sleep to attain. Having been an imbiber from about my Navy enlistment through about 30 years ago I am happy to place my habit at "rarely" these days and I have on occasion fallen asleep in a drunken slumber ... primarily at the Enlisted Men's Barracks at the Naval Training Center in Orlando Florida.

Watching television at bed time is said to be a stressor. Up until recently I turned off the television prior to bedtime ... but do admit to a spate of television in the old era of analog tubers in the bedroom and frequent late night South Park binge watching. These days I will leave the television on but sometimes arise and turn it off out of exasperation.

Suffice it to say that I agree the television is really not a sleep enhancement device.

The alarm snooze button is also suspect in sleep disarray. It seems that squeezing an extra half hour is doing nothing aside from making me feel worse when I finally do give it up and arise. Given the chord reading about this struck with me personally I think I'm going to knock off this habit I have cultivated I will likely start turning off the alarm and hitting the shower ... groggy or not.

The researchers, whose findings are published in Sleep Health, say some myths still cause disagreement - even among experts.

For instance lie-ins at the weekend disrupt the natural circadian rhythm or body clock.

But for people in certain professions - such as shift workers it may be better for them to sleep on than to get fewer hours overall.

These discrepancies, they say, suggest further research needs to be done.

National Healthcare Decisions Day 2019
    quill and inkwell
Well, here I am blogging about this again. It's time to consider those long term plans for yourself and ensure that everything is in order before health care actions need to be taken.

Yes, final preparations are a maudlin issue and sometimes thoughts of those bring me to tears when I consider the consequences ... but I recognize the need and therefore I continue to bat the topic around.

You need to ensure that you maintain documents like a living will, set power of attorney to someone you trust, make sure your will and last testament are maintained in a current state of your affairs and simply ensure to the best of your ability that you final wishes are carried out in accordance with what YOU want ...

Not some probate judge of other government entity.

Now, having said all this I find that my will has lapsed and I don't have the appropriate documents around anymore either.

So I am going to redouble my efforts toward that end and at least try to practice what I'm preaching.

You don't need an attorney.

You find a boilerplate and modify it to suit your needs then get it notarized with 2 witness to establish a new set of documentation for the inevitable.

Those legal, medical, and financial considerations will require attention and periodic maintenance by all of us who don't want to let everything go to taxes or allow some undesireable not on your radar to receive your funds and/or property.

Reflections on human frailty
Percival from Knights of the Round Table
As I enter my sixty fourth year I am reminded of my fathers.

Both of my fathers — my biological parent and my step parent who took me in as one of his own unconditionally.

Neither of these men were anything I would consider weak. They were loyal, reliable, and hardworking straight talkers who meant what they said and acted accordingly without a second thought regarding those petty outside opinions which are bound to surface during the course of human interactions and sociality.

They didn't fall into any politically correct trap dominating them with the remote control of those leftist indoctrinated idiots with which we coexist.

They were their "own" men. Not some mindless lemming out to survive by doing what everyone else does regardless of the lack of efficacy or immorality.

Even in the face of the closure of their lives they were satisfied with who they were and accepted their fates with a calm demeanor and steadiness I would be proud to own myself.

Theirs was not the condition of being weak and delicate despite advanced age.

They had various physical infirmities which they kept to themselves without any resulting incapacity or impairment until the very end.

They both maintained a moral fortitude of character we simply don't always encounter on the earth.

On this the commencement of my sixty fourth anniversary of earthly existence I am fortunate to have had both the attention and concern of these two excceptionally fine human beings.

The rest of you should be so lucky.

The Katyn Massacre
  German Katyn Poster
As a rule, I try to maintain a domestic spin on this blog. It is my fundamental attitude that it's USA centric because this is where I reside and it is the locus of all that I am and do.

However, as with many other things which exist there are exceptions to the rule and the Katyn Massacre is one of those things my mind views as appropriate toward that end ...

Those atrocities committed by the Stalin regime on the Polish people are at once horrific, genocidal, and I personally feel that those repercussions of such unmitigated inhumanity have never been realized for those who denied the right to be a person to so many in that cruety which was often elemental to the Stalin government.

The Katyn massacre or "Katyn execution by shooting consisted of several mass executions of the Polish military officers and intelligentsia carried out by the NKVD "People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs", aka the Soviet secret police commencing in April and and continuing through May 1940.

These murders happend at several locations however the atrocity is named after the Katyn Forest that location of first discovery of mass graves resulting from a military force.

Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria
The massacre was prompted by NKVD chief Lavrentiy Beria who proposed execution of all captive members of the Polish officer corps on March 5, 1940. This was approved by the Politburo of the Communist Party in the Soviet Union from the leader, Joseph Stalin, and the membership.

There were about 22,000 victims executed in the Katyn Forest of Russia as well as the Kalinin and Kharkiv prisons and other places.

The multi-ethnic Polish state resulting in the murder of Ukrainians, Belarusians, and Polish Jews.

Nazi Germany announced the discover of mass graves in the forest in April 1943 and the Red Cross intervention and investigation resulted in Stalin terminating diplomatic relations with it. The USSR said the Nazis did the atrocities, denying them through about 1990 when they were acknowledge and condemned by the Soviet government.

In November 2010, the Russian State Duma approved a declaration blaming Stalin and other Soviet officials for ordering the massacre.

Far too little way too late. This is the worst crimes against humanity ever perpetrated without sufficient consequence for those both instigating and involved in the atrocities.
