International Cat Day 2019

It's International Cat Day for all you cat people out there. Yeah, you know who you are. You little old ladies milling about the yard with cats rubbing up against you twitching their tails to and fro.

Me, never was much of a cat person. Now we did have cats growing up living on the farm in Salley, SC with my sister taking the lead on that. Funny, now she's a pomeranian person and REALLY dotes on that animal.

She named him Teddy and it's all really nauseating as well with the little blue bows and such.

So some also call this day "World Cat Day" and Russia celebrates the day on March first while the United States observes not only this particular cat day but also a separate National Cat Day on the 29th of October.

Never was one to share cat pictures and videos for any reason. Never thought there was a bonafide reason to participate in such fluff.

My issues surround the neighborhood cats who feel that my yard is their personal litter box, hunting territory, and general nusiance creation area for years now. Step in cat excrement once too many times and you cultivate this extremely negative 'tude.

My patience wears thin and so on two occasions I caught an animal and took it to the shelter on Ballpark Road in Lexington — ostensibly to have it euthanized.

On my second trip I got these continuous stares from a lovely little red headed young lady sporting green fatigues and a glock on her hip. I'm sure others may have been intimidated but all I did was look back on her; complacent in my resolve to have this little habitual offender executed and voila ... signed his death warrant on my way out the door.

Needless to say, I'm out of patience. I try not to go there but eventually my button will be pushed in the absence of owner control.

Mom says nobody can control a cat. I'm saying well, at least I can trap them and have the vermin exterminated.
