World Backup Day 2022

Yeah, in honor of the delusional International Transgender Day of Visibility I was going to poke fun at a bunch of misguided transexual human beings today — but opted for something meaningful instead.

Today is World Backup Day and it is infinitely more important than some woman thinking she's a man or some man thinking he's a woman.

If you are using a computer at any level of business or personal and creating information you wish to safeguard, your only protection against the data loss which goes with technical catastrophe is to have a back up of that data.

For example, if I have my life story on a hard disk drive of my personal computer and then that hard disk drive fails hard enough to require replacement there went my life story.

HOWEVER, if I have a spare copy of my life story on some USB thumb drive or other alternative media then I can RESTORE it from backup and depending on how current it all is I may not even skip a beat in recovery operations.

So, having survived the deletion of my first major client's million five in accounts receivable I can attest to the value of backing up your data in the computer environment.

Like nuking from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

There are a lot of options for backup up your data and my personal preference is a network attached storage unit running on a gigabit segment of my network.

It is a shared device and depending on your access you can copy your entire disk drive to it with room to spare.

I recommend skipping installed programs and other things which may be simply reinstalled.

I go for the data and configuration files by and large then call it a day.

Wasn't that much more interesting that writing about some transexual idiot like Dr Richard "Rachel" Levine the genetic man who thinks he is a fugly woman?

Just because you think you are something does not make it so. Backing up your data is a real time protection in this world full of poor decisions like most of those by the Biden administration.
