I once had a total aversion to rats. This abated over time as I grew to utilize them in school and though I never became the owner of any pet rats ...
I could tolerate them quite well.
Today is World Rat Day.
It is observed each April 4 in an effort to curb the very bad reputation they have acquired since say ...
The bubonic plague or so.
Rat enthusiasts seek tolerance for the species and Rodentia Rattus is likely to be here after we are all gone.
They are intelligent and cunning as far as animals go and the rat, unlike other rodent pets will go out of it's way to entertain and interact with you. Contrast this with the gerbil, of which I have owned many — which will sit there, look at you, and cohabitate while eating your food and shunning you otherwise.
So hate them or love them the rat is here to stay and today is their day.
So I tried to allow google back on my network over the weekend. I don't intentionally block them but as many earnest efforts go this one too was a dismal failure.
You see, in addition to the google bots you have to permit the various riff raff that utilize their networks with impunity to steal and tresspass so guess whose back in the firewall rules ???
I suppose when you're the single most evil company on the planet this is to be expected.
Yes, google. IP Tables are kind of like nuking from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. You can add all manner of mod rewrite to apache and the lamers still get it all wrong.
You tell IP Tables to prevent access and it's a done deal.
I'm happy that at leastsome things are dependable. I just wish google would prevent riff raff from attacking web assets like it's some extant requirement.
Imagine the nerve of thinking yourself that entitled ... but they do.
Then I got my first automobile and from then my walking days were pretty much over.
Then my early 20s arrive and I began the transformation into power lifter.
That phase lasted until I left California and then I came back to South Carolina and resumed my Kentucky Fried Chicken addiction and all those gains were lost.
I used to enjoy the impromptu "going for a walk".
The rest, as we say — is history.
Today is National Walking Day.
It is observed on the first Wednesday in April making it April 2 this year.
You really can't overplay the health benefits of walking.
Sometimes the most beneficial impact is "low impact".
It favorably affects most lifestyle diseases and adds to your cardiovascular integrity.
It is my personal belief that everyone should get out there and walk as much as they can.
April Fools Day is April first. It is also National One Cent Day. The intersection of these days lay in the fact that serious consideration has been leveled toward ending the use of the penny in US commerce. I agree the penny coin likely doesn't get the use it should.
I also have this sense of nostalgia tugging at my heart strings. The penny was the first coin I was ever given as a child. I had a lot of nickles, dimes, and quarters as well over the years but the first coin I ever received was the penny.
The US first issued the one cent coin, designed by Benjamin Franklin. On one side, the coin read "Mind Your Business", and on the other side, "We Are One". It was hand crafted without machines and larger — made of pure copper unlike the alloy adulterants used in much of the coinage of today.
In 1793, on April 1, a new one-cent coin was introduced into the market. These new coins were a symbol of the Statue of Liberty. The other side showed 13 chains representing the 13 colonies.
I have a lot of pennies I have collected over the years. I have indian heads, wheats, as well as the more modern versions. Perhaps therein lay part of the problem. Maybe collectors have made the cent unuseful to the government.
I know a lot of people who don't use bank cards — or even visit banks — and wonder how they will fare if we ever phase out currency totally in favor of other commerce instruments.
It represents that opportune time to take these perverts out with dispatch, accuracy, and extreme prejudice.
The transgender population consists of sick people who think their genetic gender is incorrect.
We have men who claim to be women and women that claim to be men.
They think we should embrace their illness and not seek to cull them from the population.
I don't think the transgender community should be discriminated against so much as eradicated.
Fewer mentally incompetent people will ultimately make for a better world.
So when you see that transgender flag I hope you'll do your part and eliminate their blight from the landscape.
I love the smell of charred transgender carcass in the morning. It smells like victory over sick birds invading the country thinking they have a divine right to be stupid.
Happy Transgender Day of Visibility. They'll go back under cover soon so act now.
Indeed, I took daily excursions along the river front, made good friends with police mounted on white mares, and generally got great exercise after being run off from my teaching job with the local technical college.
Regrets, I have a few but feel no need to mention or list any in my pursuit of the almighty dollar coupled with an alternate arrangement for exercise in the urban jungle.
Today is Take a Walk in the Park Day.
It is observed each year on March 30. The idea is investment in our health without monetary expendature.
From the beginning when we were basically outdoors dwellers and nomadic we have steadily retreated to the structures in which we live and work and I dare say, it's obvious that some of us could use some activity.
So if you are so inclined you should get out there. carpe diem and get a little active time logged in that log of things to do.
I am not a veteran of the Viet Nam war. I am a "Viet Nam Era" veteran. There is a big difference.
Vietnam Veterans Day is an annual March 29 ocurrence commemorating those hardships made by the 9,000,000 Americans who were sent to the Vietnam War by the idiots in charge as well as that history they made.
Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam was the stage for the Vietnam debacle. The service members called to duty in Vietnam increased greatly due to the effect of a so-called "domino theory" when indicated that if one south east asis country fell others would follow.
This was never realized.
On November 5, 1969 the US withdrew and pretty much abandoned all the natives who were allies of the fighting men in the United States. I recall the scramble to board helicopters and the numerous natives who didn't get a seat.
On March 29, 1973, President Richard Nixon officially withdrew the American combat forces from Vietnam. 60 days later I would graduate from high school.
The next year, the first Vietnam Veterans Day was held.
Our fighting people were placed in a war then not allowed to win. What a crumby way to fight a country. What an equally bad treatment of those who assisted you in that country you invaded.
The leadership of the United States blew this one square out their ass.
Traitor wussy judge James Boasberg mistakenly thinks he can push the executive branch around at his will.
He obviously fails to understand the scope of his puny place in the world order.
Patriot Attorney General Pam Bondi has invoked state secrets privilege in response his idiotic probe into deportation flights of Tren de Aragau and MS-13 gang members to El Salvador earlier in March as if he has any say so with terrorists and criminals and the powers of the executive.
The President calls the shots not some idiot wussy traitor democrat appointed judge who doesn't even understand the law or exactly who is in charge.
President Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act to begin deporting hundreds of illegal alien gang members with Tren de Aragua and the MS-13 gangs, both of which are now designated as terrorist organizations.
There's always some libtard democrat appointed asshole judge who thinks he or she may usurp the nation.
Boo traitor wussy Judge Boasberg. You're entirely too concerned with the coddling of convicted murderers and criminals and not concerned enough for the safety of the tax payer. Go pop a couple of midol and shoot a tampoon up your stupid candy ass.
The judiciary needs to recognize the ends of their power. They do not and can not run the show. The law is not theirs to declare at the drop of a hat. They may interpret — but do not make the law on their personal whims as all too many of the dumb ass democrats appear to think.
It's director Quentin Tarantino's birthday. I like to observe it because he is a man after my own heart. He was born on March 27, 1963 at Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was a high school drop out of Narbonne High School whereby he enrolled in acting school at Toluca Lake.
I like his work for it's provocative nature and his brand of no holes barred screenwriting.
Some of my favorites in his repertoire include Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. I have yet to see the Kill Bill franchise. Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained were good for their over the top nature and I particularly like the violence ... but, of course, I would.
All in all I'd say its been quite a run for Mr Tarrantino and I hope to enjoy more of his work in the future.
The 1969-1970 school year. I was in the ninth grade at a god forsaken shithole called Goose Creek, SC. My dad took us there at the behest of the Navy. Nothing mattered except the Navy at that point in my existence.
You could count my friends on one hand. Most of those aquaintances with whom I interacted were NOT friends. The late Milton G "Butch" Potter was my best friend. He was as good a friend as you might ever be lucky enough to acquire. Otherwise, the environment brought out the very worst in me.
Yes, Goose Creek sucked to high heaven. In all fairness, I was your classic underachiever who did nothing except as little with which I could get by. My dear mother did the best she could and was the ONLY person to defend me in the fray which was daily life in Goose gd Creek South Carolina and attending Goose Creek gd High School.
The school was populated largely with stupid confrontational profane name calling people who thought it a badge of honor to persecute others and hurt them with physical violence. There was even a evil little black son of a bitch named Ricky Jordan who brought his big brother to school to hurt those he wished to engage but couldn't because of his stature. What a whiny stupid inept negro.
My father pretty much thought coping with the environment was "my problem" and ignored it except for those absolutely required punishments for my bad behaviors brought on by the stress of daily living.
The teachers, some of whom were actually nice — were largely oblivious to student violence prone behaviors and did not attempt to intervene on the behalf of anyone being walked upon in that abyss which was the intellectual quagmire called Goose Creek gd High School. The administration and support staff were largely the same caliber dullard as the faculty. Particularly the so-called "deans" and front office workers.
They had an evil unkind gunt guidance counselor named "Miss Van" who had this unforgettable large bulbous nose and sneer to set it off.
I lived to see her as my peer at a workshop during my years as faculty at the local technical college. She did not escape me and could not place me in all the massive evil she propagated during her tenure. She has passed sometime back (after suffering greatly I might add) and I hope she burns in Hell for eternity.
I have no fond memories of the place and live to shoot a few of my former classmates in the head with my .357 magnum with hollow points or something equally devastating ...
This remains highly unlikely at this time as I am not pursuant nor really interested at this juncture. I suppose a chance encounter is possible with both confrontation and likely doing battle. Though I will refrain from hunting a few from my past down like the dogs that they are, the bad memories, the names, and the faces will always remain with me.
I once viewed myself as an "achiever". In retrospect, I suppose I was just a legend in my own mind.
Sure, I am lucky to have had the career and the cushy retirement but at what cost?
Today is International Day for Achievers.
It is one of those multinational observances to honor and acknowledge people who have made significant contributions to their chosen field.
Therein lay where I fall short.
I made significant contributions to Dave but that's about it.
I gave up on research early on and really became preoccupied with the latter days more than the world at large. So much for innovations, eh ?! I suppose in the end it was all rather selfish.
International Day for Achievers occurs each. March 24. It is said that even small contributions qualify as valid achievement. Contrary to conventional wisdom, my personal view is that small contributions are not about the same as large ones.
While I would have loved a career in medical research; the practicalities of eating and living indoors caused me to opt for what I already knew and build upon that. So I'm just a glorified geek ... but what a wild ride it has been.
Happy International Day for Achievers to you who deserve it. I regret that I am not one of you.
