Feets. We walk on them. Some of them are large others small. Some of them have various aromas while others are invariably sweet smelling. I have certain issues idigineous to adult onset diabetes which make foot care a priority with me. My issue is that the nail tech I had been using thought she was the customer. The relationship simply did not work out.
Today is No Socks Day.
It is an international observance held each May 8th annually. The concept of socks are a touch issue with some. I know people who like their loafers without socks. I know others who like thick white sox with sturdy shoes everywhere they go. Personally, I like clean white socks because they are healthiest for my foot care issues.
I've noticed that when I attempt to traverse the short distance between my house and my mom's house that my feet can barely stand the trip when I am barefoot. I chalk it up to the never ending array of shoes and socks I don each morning. Gone are the days of wandering without shoes. However, it is somewhat disconcerting to realize that if I have to get somewhere fast in bare feet I am in trouble.
So here's to my double knit white cotton socks. Covered feet are my modus operandi anymore. I'd like to do the barefoot thing but it's simply not in the cards at this stage of my life. Perhaps I can build up a tolerance for bare footedness once again. You know, aspects of my childhood such as this do return to haunt me on occasion.
Happy No Socks Day to you. Wear them if you want to. Omit them if you don't. I'll still be your friend however you decide your feet should be.
