Today is April Fools Day, a holday for pranks, hoaxes, jokes, and so forth on a day of obscure origins and longstanding practice.
So if you get pranked today don't feel rained on. I have frequently had to tolerate such goings on ... sometimes while I was in the midst of an unrelated problem which did not lend itself to the levity of the day.
Regardless of whether you're in the mood or not I hope you have a happy day !

My workstation is in need of some maintenance. I have been dealing with a loud fan noise for a while now. Toward that end I "presumed" ... (Oh NO) that the issue was the CPU fan`.
So I ordered a replacement which was shipped from China and took a month to get to me.
Swapping it out I find the same noise coming from the case.
So ... I cracked the case again and plugged it up only to find the sound was coming from the power supply and NOT the CPU fan.
This only goes to show you that one should check things out MUCH better than I did.
So the CPU fan got a nice coolermaster upgrade and the bloody new power supply is on order and I'll swap it out in due time.
Yes, this was not a great example of troubleshooting in action but I got by with the primary waste being time waiting on the fan. Here's to exercising a more acceptable level of due diligence before the fact in the future.

- Remembering Richard Jewell

I just watched the movie Richard Jewell by Clint Eastwood. It brought flashbacks to mind of a earlier time when my existence was clouded by work and duties and commuting to the point when I didn't even grasp much of what was going on in the world around me.
The 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta didn't interest me. As was my policy olympiads, stick games, ball games, team sports in general failed to capture my interest as they do so many others in my midst.
A venue there called Centennial Olympic Park was bombed by a criminal named Eric Rudolph who was ultimately convicted for a series of bombings across the southern United States between 1996 and 1998.
Richard Allensworth Jewell, who was born Richard White discovered a backpack containing three pipe bombs on the park grounds. He alerted law enforcement and helped evacuate the area before the bomb exploded, saving many people from injury or death.
While he was initially declared a hero the FBI in it's infinite wisdom and deep state complicity named Richard Jewell a suspect based on alleged "scientific profiling" and though he was never charged he was presumed guilty and suffered trial by media only to be cleared some 88 days later after the proceedings had pretty much ruined his life.
Just think, the FBI requires a 4 year degree just because some bulldog looking pervert transvestite homosexual in charge said so during the agency startup. Elitist far beyond their ability to perform ...
Much like the moron leadership of the city of columbia IT department.
The man was definitely done wrong by law enforcement and appeared on Saturday Night Live after his exhonoration.
He passed on August 29, 2007 from the sequela of undiagnosed diabetes. Another tragic tale of unrecognized heroism in our never ending quest to affix blame as quickly and easily as possible regardless of the truth of the matter.
It is a tragedy that we continue to fail to learn from past mistakes in an age where the left declares "right is wrong" and "wrong is right" and skewed notions of antifa and blm permeate our culture in their blatant stupidity. We don't seem to be learning from history.

Writer, librarian, Icon of my childhood
Well, I knew it would someday happen and I was sorry to read that my favorite childhood author, Beverly Cleary has passed at the young age of 104.
When I was in the naval hospital of the Boca Chica Naval Air Station at Key West, Florida recovering from an appendectomy my mama brought me a book called 'Ribsy' about a dog and his owner, Henry Huggins.
From that moment on I was a fan of Henry, Ramona Quimby, Beezus Quimby, Ralph S Mouse and the rest of the gang and I always thought her prose to be fresh and interesting.
Her first book was published 5 years prior to my birth in 1950. A somewhat exhaustive list follows below to illustrate that prolific work she did in the name of chidren and reading.
So here's to you, Beverly Cleary.
Yours was a career for the ages and there is no telling how many children you have enthralled over the years with your work.
Rest in peace.

- Remembering Buckra

One of those epithets used to exhibit contempt for white people is the word 'buckra'.
It is a perjorative term directed toward white men by black people and originates from the Gullah populations indigenous to the coastal lowcountry and sea islands of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Now, when I was much younger I had been called buckra by a few of the people in my life but I never took offense. This is primarily due to my lack of sophistication and my general amusement with those around me in my youthful failure to understand.
Besides, the word was directed at me by those familiar to me and with whom I interacted regularly. I've never placed a lot of store in 'calling names' anyway.
Nowadays, I can't remember the last time anyone called me 'buckra' but can assure you that it would not be met with much more than that which it stirred in me at 17; which was essentially nothing.
I'm simply not a person who gets set off by any such terms of endearment or even the casting of aspersions by others because I am already far worse than anyone else could ever imagine.
There's something about a particularly powerful and commanding vocabulary which, unlike the lame ebonics largely spoken by the leadership and app group within the IT department of the city of columbia though the discussion is "supposed" to be technical can turn a situation into a gunfight if you allow it so I try not to arm myself with sticks in the presence of real firepower.
It's just not worth it to get all bent out of shape over something you can easily quash with a look, or a few minutes of strangulation, or the drawing of that formidable weapon ... and I have so many from which to choose.
People simply don't typically feel it necessary to "call me out" because I just don't go there anymore. I lack the interest in confrontation — yawn.
So all in all I'm much less the intolerant bully and more at ease than I once was in my impetuous youth. It's all in your experience with the world and it's denizens which makes the bulk of the difference. Hot headedness never benefitted me once. Therefore, those aspects were bound to diminish over time.
Call me what you will. If you set me off you'll wish you hadn't but I'll certainly let you get your entire thought out prior to pouncing on you should the need arise. I don't typically try to injure people anymore. It's just not worth it. I just tolerate the stupid as long as I can then move on.

When I was a kid I was this young fool thespian oriented fellow who thought he was going to write scripts and screen plays and star in various horror flicks as produced by his best friend and confidante ... the late Chris Gagnon.
All of this transpired at a time when puberty had just begun and I had experienced my first abdominal surgery in the form of an appendectomy.
Today is World Theatre Day. Observed since 1962 (I was 7 years old) by a group called the International Theatre Institute. It goes down each year on March 27 and is primarily supported by ITI and the international theater complex touting the theme of theater and wussie 'culture of peace'.
While I'm all for the theater part ... at least I was back in the day; my personality is far to combative anymore to be this culture of peace idiot in the presence of the left and their insane purusit of illegal voting and immoral attempts to do anything and everything contrary to good character then make it a law.
So anyway, if you're a thespian this is your day and I hope it's a happy one for you.

She is part and parcel of everything wrong in the Republic. She promotes the stealing of legitimate elections, supports billboards in foreign lands trying to coerce people to move here under the promise of unlimited entitlements for which she and her criminal political party cannot pay ...
But for which she can only fleece the legitimate taxpayers with incessant tax increases which cannot be justified just like her partner in crime Joe 'slaw for brains' Biden is doing presently.

My attitude toward abortion is one of ambivalence.
On one hand, I view it as a necessary therapeutic procedure in cases of compromising injury, genetic abonormality, or rape.
On the other, I am staunchly against it's use as a casual means of birth control as practiced by the feminists who think 'my body my choice' even when that choice is spreading their legs and copulating with anything that passes their way.

Today is the International Day of the Unborn Child.
It is observed each March 25 since established by Pope John Paul II.
John Paul II was the last Pope of the Catholic church who held my respect.
The buffoon Pope Francis does not hold my esteem however and IMHO should have never been elected with his lack of Biblical knowledge and strange religious ideas I feel The Almighty may take issue with at the great white throne judgement ...
However, as a person I cannot judge him and leave that to He who can and will.
He chose this day to coincide with the Feast of the Annunciation.
John Paul II thought the day "a positive option in favour of life and the spread of a culture for life to guarantee respect for human dignity in every situation".

- Yelp Sucks

I have never understood the people who think Yelp is a good thing.
The contributors are dilettantes looking for some following which never matters, the information is slanted from an either "I love it" or "I hate it" perspective with little in the way of organic objectivity, and it all reeks of cronyism and puffed up self importance that repels me.
I don't do Yelp.
I don't EVER intentionally visit yelp.com as I consider it, it's contributors, and it's audience to be a clique set of either niggardly clientele or pseudointellectual self aggrandizing self indulgent phonies out to spin you into submission to their whim one way or another in a flurry of charletan expertise and busybody "me too" mentality.
The information is peppered with entries that are stale and inaccurate. There are active profiles on local businesses which were closed — some long ago. The local personalities describing their experiences are by and large hayseed pudgy southern gals and most importantly, I find the bulk of that information provided lacking for purposes of evaluation.
I cultivate my own opinions and ideas then pursue those as I see fit, not those of some yelp commentator and their special brand of self important irrelevant subjective drivel.
Though I decline to be yelp's bitch myself I certainly don't mind if you assume the position for them you spellbound no life of your own toad.

- Garry Shandling and I didn't really connect

One of those television personalities I never really appreciated was Garry Shandling. His medium was comedy and he starred on both It's Garry Shandling's Show and The Larry Sanders Show. In all honesty, those periods of time incorporated years I was full time faculty teaching college and I'm afraid that I simply lacked interest and appreciation in most things then, particularly toward the end of my tenure.
Working with stupid people will do that to you.
Garry Emmanuel Shandling was born in Chicago on November 29, 1949. He passed this earth in Santa Monica, California on March 24, 2016 at the age of 66 (which is my present age).
Mr Shandling began as a comedy writer for television then migrated to stand up. He was popular on the Johnny Carson Show and pretty much became a fixture as guest host and was even in contention to take the show over upon Mr Carson's retirement.
Garry Shandling was nominated for 18 Emmy Awards for The Larry Sanders Show which aired on HBO. He appeared in a couple of my favorite movies which were Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He was a voice actor on top of everything else.
My particular notice came upon his death from pulmonary embolism when I saw how many in the media and significant others around me were either sad and introspective or grief stricken. I have always had a soft spot for the bereaved and therefore was quiet and respectful as various others voiced their sadness and reminisced about those performances they had particularly enjoyed during his career.
His last performance was portraying the voice of Ikki in the live-action remake of The Jungle Book.
I feel the man was quite the talent; however his heyday conflicted with my own having occupied a timeline parallel to bad times in my life. This convergence rather places a pall over most aspects of comedy, which was what he was all about.
When your personal life is simply never ending tumultuous human misery and crumbling all around you from the stupidity you are forced to endure while earning a living the last thing you're interested is someone who tells jokes.
Hear that stupid Susan, stupid Cathy, and STUPID Barbara ?

- KJ's Market Frozen Pizza Thaw

I went to the local market to pick up a supply of frozen pizzas as they are a staple of my week and I will pop one into the toaster oven for a quick and easy snack.
I'm particularly fond of the Tostino's Party Pizza Triple Meat variety and have been known to buy them in lots of 5 or more.
Upon reaching into the freezer case I noticed that the pizzas were spongy and not very cold — you know, to be coming out of a freezer case and all.
I checked all the pizzas in the adjacent case area and they were all thawed, spongy, and were not "cold" ... much less "frozen".
I decided to forego the purchase because indeed, I have arrived home with thawed pizzas from this same case in the past and had trepidations regarding the health impacts possible from consuming thawed frozen pizzas ... particularly the ones containing meat.
Upon conferring with Mom, who knows a lot about food, prep, and storage she too did not think it a good idea to either buy or consume thawed frozen pizzas of any brand.
She indicated a bit of alarm at my admission to having done so in the recent past.
I sent KJ's a nice email on their contact form regarding the situation. Mom has lost confidence in them and has requested that I purchase my food items elsewhere.
So now ... it appears that my decision to return to Walmart for food items will be accelerated despite my wishes to give my business to the other area stores.
Luckily there have been no health issues of which I am aware.

In the course of my life I've been forced to reevaluate my notions regarding various things toward which I've cultivated attitudes over the years.
One of those is the significance of Indian-Americans as they relate to my world view and personal world inventory.
In the beginning there was Dr Vasant Garde. He was the first person to convince me that others had opinions and experience valuable to my existence.
In continuation of his influence, I was already open to Dinesh D’Souza ...
Whom I follow closely via his podcasts, interviews, and other interactions I have located on the web and other venues.
He is an intellect far beyond my own and I value his insights to the world and those actors who would impose their false narratives upon me such as the US Democratic Party and the left in general.
Dinesh D’Souza is a prolific writer, emminent scholar and intellectual, and has also become an award-winning filmmaker.
Born in India, Mr D’Souza came to the US as an exchange student at the age of 18 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College.
I will always be grateful for his 'pulling me from the fire' so to speak as I have been able to temper my world view and gain an appreciation for the people from other cultures who have something to offer to this boy from the deep South that was not there previously.

Under the leadership of evil egocentric megalomaniac Jack Dorsey it rapidly devolved into the premier 'filtered' selective content rendering hidden and fake news piss poor excuse of a social network on the planet.
The censorship and banning of individuals using the platform is astounding for the organization to continue to claim Section 230 legal examptions in the face of violation of absolutely everything for which this particular piece of Internet legislation stands.
Even those who speak out against it fail to boycott the evil empire for what it is.
The hypocritical wussies of the world give lip service to something they are unwilling to pursue actively due to the decline of character in the people of the world.
