Today is the 214th anniversary of the birth of the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Finis Davis.
Mr Davis was born June 3, 1808 in Fairview, KY.
He passed December 6, 1889 in New Orleans, LA.
Mr Davis was a planter from the South who was raised in Mississippi, educated at West Point, and represented the state of Mississippi in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives before the American Civil War.
His Presidency of the Confederate States of America ran from 1861 to 1865.
He was a gd democrat.
He is a hero to some of us who have family who fought and died for the Confederacy.
My relatives fought and died for both sides of the civil war.

I feel that the single most downtrodden group of individuals in The Republic are the Native Americans.
Some call them "American Indians" which is fully correct — but I prefer that term tribal member acquaintances have related to me as being preferable to them.
All the incessant whining about slavery and reparations rings hollow in the annals of history when you compare it all to that which the Native Americans suffered at the hands of those who overtook their lands and claimed them as their own then kicked them when they were down.
When history is recorded by the victor in any conflict, the loser suffers both those losses incurred and the accurate account of that consuming conflict in the annals left for posterity.
June second brings us American Indian Citizenship Day.
Marking the day in 1924 that the Indian Citizenship Act by Congress granted citizenship to all American Indians born in the US.
The day celebrates the Native Americans of the United States and their culture and history.

- Flip a Coin Day 2022

This is something I recall as a child waiting for the bus in Key West Florida; but haven't done for as long as I can now remember at this point in my life.
June first brings us Flip a Coin Day — which is a day for making decisions with the ease of flipping a coin.
Now then, the tradition is said to date back to the time of Julius Caesar. It is said that Caesar would take a coin and flip it to make decisions where the correct choice was unclear.
Ideally the correct answer was "heads", which of course carried his image on the coin.
Et tu, Brute?
In our day of lotteries and other games of chance the flipping of a coin has become irrelevant in my existence. Therefore I will likely allow the day to pass without needing to participate.
Though I don't find the practice efficacious in my personal decision making, by all means, should you find yourself so inclined I think you should go for it !

I realize this entry will place me in contention with various others but like the about section plainly states ...
but if we get off on the wrong foot from the perspective of agreement, so be it
I have always been one to enunciate clearly. This, however, is not a propensity shared by many of those at work ... and indeed school children either as far as I can tell.
When a person can only speak in some self invented dialect like the so-called ebonics (which is actually just very poor english grammar interspersed with ethinic slang and idioms) it reveals a failure in the ability to interact with good operational english and failed interpersonal skills.
When a student utilizes the elements of texting in formal written essays in school it indicates a level of stupidity and inability to judge context and appropriateness in real time.
When a school system stops teaching cursive writing such that students graduate the system without being able to read or write it there are indications for a need to bludgeon a bunch of stupid green haired woke bitches who should have never been allowed to teach the children of the United States of America.
Yes, education has failed because of the leftist libtard element pervading it.
Today is National Speak in Complete Sentences Day. It is observed annually each May 31st. The day is dedicated to using proper sentence structure while speaking. Speaking in complte sentences builds grammar skill because a complete sentence will have a variety of grammatical elements and exercise those in practical application.
This has become lost on too many because of the failed libtard indoctrination first teach history, critical thinking, or relevance NEVER school system such as that operated by the NEA. The NEA are enemies of the nation and we should purge their members from the face of the earth.
It is important to speak in full sentences in an effort to build clarity in thought. The concept has been lost in the bullshit of a so-called "woke culture", idiotic rantings like critical race theory which is a pseudoscience. The moronic nature of boys thinking they're girls and girls thinking they're boys all because some sicko is allowed to influence the children of others.
It's deleterious to the foward thinking nature upon which The Republic was based.

- Memorial Day 2022

Memorial Day is celebrated on Monday, May 30, 2022.
Formerly called Decoration Day in the United States, this holiday is held on the last Monday in May and honors those who have died in the nation’s wars.
It began during the American Civil War when citizens placed flowers on the graves of those who had been killed in battle.
We plan to pay our respects at the local national cemetery in an effort to honor both our departed family members and the war dead of our nation.

- National Creativity Day 2022

I was once preoccupied with creativity and making things, be they art, writing, or music.
Nowadays I've lost that drive which once compelled me toward those various production goals I once viewed as paramount.
Today is National Creativity Day and is held each May 30th under the auspices of one Hal Croasmun of ScreenwritingU since 2018 to inspire and encourage creativity among people everywhere.
While I view the concept of promoting creativity as admirable it simply isn't something to which I relate these days.
I wish I still had it but alas creativity and the urge to create is all but gone in my life.
It seems that the pursuits of work and earning a living squashed it all within me.
There is still that intermittent flicker from time to time — but this compared to my heyday is in effect nothing.
Such are the ravages of age in the presence of the wasting of everything good for those requirements of the material world.

- Composting Day 2022

One of those things which has interested me over the years yet not found a place in my routine up to this point is composting.
Composting is the addition organics to a mixture which is allowed to decompose for addition to soil as a fertilizer. It is also called "ammending the soil" in the words of my old friend Bill Havey.
The act of decomposing plant and food waste and recycling organic materials produces a mixture rich in plant nutrients and beneficial organisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and worms.
Composting has been in use since the Stone Age. Prior to the 20th century it was basic waste management in a world before there were landfill sites.
Composting is and effective way to enrich the soil, reduce pests, remain chemical free, promote beneficial biologics in the environment, and reduce methane.
Composting requires three basic components:
Browns such as leaves, twigs, naked cardboard Greens fruit scraps, vegetable waste, grass trimmings Water
May 29th is Composting Day. It's one of those little things you can do to make your plants thrive and recycle items which would otherwise find themselves unused in a garbage heap.

- International Hamburger Day 2022

I can always devour a hamburger. I don't go for the veggie burger variants and really a meatloaf sandwich can float my boat as well but my regular hamburger habit tells the tale.
My affinity for the beef delicacy leads me to What-A-Burger on Meeting Street in West Columbia, SC.
I encountered one of those buzzard like google trolls bad mouthing them saying that they weren't really a What-A-Burger and their product was inferior.
I've been to several What-A-Burger locations in Texas and they certainly compare favorably.
To these google centric lying ass morons I say get stuffed. I go there and I like everything they serve me.
I am partial to the double cheese What-A-Burger with all the trimmings. I often include bacon on the sandwich.
My mom can't handle that much sandwich so she opts for the cheese What-A-Burger. The sandwich is about half the size of the one I eat.
I usually opt for small sides of french fries and onion rings and they would not make the bucks off of me were their product inferior.
Sometimes I can't face the crowd but I figure that business is so good who needs me?
Today is International Hamburger Day. If you are so inclined grab a burger at the establishment of your choice.

- National Grape Popsicle Day 2022

I have always liked popsicles.
I don't pursue them as I did when younger but still they make for an enjoyable taste treat and are great on hot days.
I remember being given them on occasion in my childhood and these made for quite the memorable experience.
Today is National Grape Popsicle Day.
This day is celebrated to remind of those times when the first popsicle was prepared.
The first popsicle was made in 1905 in California by accident.
In San Franciso, an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson was once standing on his porch while combining water and white powdered flavoring seeking to prepare soda.
He left it outside on his porch with a stick within the concoction.
It froze when cold weather set in and voila the first popsicle.
In the year 1922 Mr Epperson introduced the summer treat at a fireman's ball event and his treat turned to be a massive success.
It is known that in the year 1923, he manufactured and sold this treat at a park in California.
Epperson applied for a patent for his treat-on-a-stick in the year 1924 which he back then called it as Epsicle ice pop and later renamed the frozen treat as Popsicle.

I am naturally attracted to redheads.
Yes, those ginger ladies with the hair color reflecting that lower end of the spectrum have something that just naturally causes me to gravitate toward them as a magnet will to steel.
Were I able to control this I don't feel as though I would attempt to do so.
I know what I like and it is little red headed girls.
My girl is red headed. I wouldn't have it any other way.
May 26 is World Redhead Day.
If you're in possession of natural red hair you're part of a unique group of individuals.
Only 2% on the planet have natural red hair. This equates to some 140 million people, the females of which trigger my immediate awareness.

- Towel Day 2022

I use a lot of towels domestically.
I maintain a set of bath towels I use in the shower.
Separately, I have a collection called "floor towels" which are used for sitting upon the floor, various wipe ups, and cleaning. I wash these in separate loads because the floor towels get a heavy bleach and detergent wash as a sanitary practice.
Today is one of those utilitarian observances to which I naturally would not gravitate.
Today is Towel Day, a day to go forth with a towel on your person to celebrate that usefulness towels provide.
Towel Day is celebrated annually each May 25th in tribute to the author Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Not really being a "fan" of Mr Adams nor "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" I really cannot fully appreciate much more than the utility a towel offers and admit to being a profuse user of them in my activities of daily living.
Regardless, I appreciate the day for what it is and the author for who he was.
A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.

- Brother's Day 2022

Today is Brother's Day.
It is a day set aside to celebrate our male siblings who try to be there for us.
It's not always possible, because they have their own lives to pursue as well — but those who make the effort by and large should be recognized for that fact.
I have two brothers.
One of them is local and he tries to lend a hand in various endeavors when he can.
The other lives in an adjacent state I don't get too much interaction with him..
It's hard to be a long distance "brother".
The other, is one upon whom I wish to enact consequences that are richly deserved.
No time for bearing a grudge.
We'll just have to see.

- Lucky Penny Day 2022

My coin collection goes back to my childhood.
I have a lot of very old cent pieces which I have accumulated over the years. In particular Indian Head and Wheat cents predominate those in my collection. I have no Lincoln Memorial cents in my collection of which I am aware.
I don't view any of those pennies as particularly lucky.
My only "lucky" piece is a rectangular troy ounce silver ingot with a bass relief Desert Storm scud missile spoof because it was given to me by my late best friend Dewitt. I sometimes hold it and reminisce then set it aside and cherish it for that reason.
Today is US National Lucky Penny Day.
It goes down each May 23rd and is one of those upbeat events whereby you ostensibly look down and find a penny. Hopefully a rare penny.

- National Buy a Musical Instrument Day 2022

So we even have a day to kick me in the butt and motivate me to go buy that new keyboard I've been all about for the past several years.
Yes, boys and girls I am going to take the plunge, likely sooner than later.
While I doubt that I'll go so high end as the Korg Grandstage 88 which I have admired for a very long while now with it's superior weighted key mechanism and all —
I will be getting something upon which my fingers may tickle the ivories and satisfy that urge to create tones ...
Today is May 22nd and we observe National Buy a Musical Instrument Day.
The day is all about getting an instrument and playing music.
Seeing how I am a would be musician and magnficient faker at that, it may be time for that new instrument over which I have been daydreaming intermittently.
I am the former owner of a Roland A90EX which was bestowed upon my niece as I cultivated disdain for the man who sold it to me.
I prefer absolutely nothing to playing an instrument sold to me by a man I don't respect. My niece does not seem to share my idiosyncratic scorn for the numerous incompetents indigenous to my local area.
Maybe I can actually learn to really play at long last instead of just presenting the appearance of being able to play.
