I remember my old cognac days. I'd have a snootful once or twice a week to attain that altered consciousness called "copping a buzz".
My cognac of choice in those days was Courvoisier VS; but I could also be seen imbibing a flammable fruit flavored local brandy periodically.
I could keep a bottle a long time given the fact that I would take a half to three quarters ounce and add steam distilled water to make a jigger. Rarely I would slam two.
So brandy went down the gullet and I would wander around the crib in a daze sometimes including a slight stagger. Nowadays I don't partake ONLY due to the metabolic syndrome x with which I have contended my entire adult life, but only recently pursued with strict medical compliance.
Suffice it to say that the moderation I attempt in all things has caused me to suffer less of those throes I've seen other type 2 diabetics suffer.
Still, I don't forsee a day when I will resume drinking cognac ... or any other kind of alcohol.
Today is National Cognac Day. It is observed each June 4 annually as a time to sit back and have a taste of the strong taste and aroma of brandy.
