Back in my imbibing days I enjoyed a snifter of cognac occasionally.
It is a rather potent brandy and my particular favorites were Hennessey VS, Salignac, or Grand Mariner Cuvee to which I typically added a single ice cube or small shot of water.
Alas, with the advent of full blown adult onset diabetes beyond the ability to 'laugh it off' as it were — I felt it necessasary to curtail copping a buzz and added it to that long list of recreational drugs I gave up so long ago.
I don't know how much teetotaling improved my health, but the expenses were certainly less and I don't go staggering around the house with what I perceived to be flammable breath anymore.
Today is National Cognac Day. It happens each June 4 in the name of a snootful.
Cognac originates from a town of the same name in France.
It is a type of brandy which undergoes a distillation process which gives it an exceptional taste and clarity.
So if you're so inclined, go ahead and pour yourself a drink and if not, happy National Cognac Day anyway !
