International Waterfall Day 2026

    Andrew Ramey Falls
Today is International Waterfall Day.

It is an annual observation of waterfalls held each June 16 since 2020 under the auspices of one Bob Matthews from Rochester, New York, and his wife.

The day is meant to encourage citizens to visit, consider, learn about, and appreciate waterfalls internationally.

The event is without infrastructure or supporting organizational component. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the observance.

So if your interests carry you I hope you'll venture out and visit a waterfall or two in the near future.

We even have a very small one here in the Midlands of South Carolina at Peachtree Rock which is currently entrusted to the SC Nature Conservancy which was an utter mistake as far as I am concerned.

They are extremely poor stewards of nature and the public trust.
