For example, a prime need of mine was frequent dental care. Since I've come to know just how much of an uncaring racket it all is I have stopped a lot of that to find my teeth remain in good shape due to my daily hygiene regimen which I intend to maintain on into the future.
This is not to say I would not pursue the services of a dental professional should the need arise. Certainly not the dentist portrayed in the movie Marathon Man, however. It's already a sad notion to think that dentists in general are without initiative and expect the so-called "patient" to service them instead of vice versa.
Today is Geriatric Toothfairy Day. It comes around each November 9 in the United States.
The thrust of the observance is to bring the importance of oral health for we old farts to the forefront and I am fully aware of the impact of poor hygiene in general. Poor dental hygiene can be a devastating affair indeed.
As in The Marathon Man movie which came out that year I enlisted in the Navy "Is it safe?"
My quality of life has remained good over the years because of those attentions I pay to the details of health maintenance that I might be less vulnerable to the infirmities I might suffer otherwise.
So I hope you'll take a moment to evaluate your personal health practices such as good dental care. It's not enough to hit the high spots and call it a day. You have to be consientious in your pursuit of health maintenance.
Geriatric Toothfairy Day and be aware of those requirements for good health as you travel the path life sets before you.
