Fashion Day 2025

  Fashionista

I had my 'fashionista' days long ago. I was fresh out of the Navy and had bought a set of duds and shoes and such.

My good friend the late Dewitt Casey called me "mousse head" because I had not lost all of my hair and I would doodie it up as well.

I was quite the dapper queer looking straight guy.

Today is Fashion Day.

It is observed each July 9 annually since 2016 vto expose your fashion sense and allow you to display your aesthetics in clothing and/or accessories.

While fashion is integral to society our diversity allows for a broad spectrum of fashion sense and tastes.

This is the day to show it to the world.

You don't have to be gay or aspire to work in the fashion industry to look the part.

I for one might give you the beat down of your life should you make the mistake of insinuating that I might be some element of those LGBTQ crazies and besides ...

I have better taste to boot.

Regardless I hope you will don your finest regalia and let your inner fashionista out for the world to see.

Happy Fashion Day.

That which is ...
goofy physician
At the risk of being called a curmudgeon ...

The extant human being must contend with much over which he or she exercises no control.

You have to submit to the stupid because they have obtained control over you in the workplace by political means.

You may contract some devastating disease from which there is no recovery.

Alas, modern medicine is now populated with a bunch of woke idiots that think genetic men can be women and genetic women can be men.

All "gender affirming surgery" does is affirm that you and your surgeon are both stupid and ignorant of that which being human entails.

Genetics are chromosomal and as such you ultimately have little in the way of choices.

It is a sad notion to think that we have evolved to this level of stupidity, particular when it comes to health care providers ...

But we have.

I used to think the CDC was the pinnacle of medical employment.

Now I know it is simply a vehicle for stupid woke physicians to force their unsubstantiated opinions on others while we simply suffer those consequences cast upon us.

This is why I am hesitant to engage medicine at any level.

I would never go to Prisma and allow them to touch me because I have had first hand experience with the stupidity of those who work there.

So I handle my healthcare by and large on my own with the assistance of my provider who monitors my lab work and writes those prescriptions I feel are necessary.

I'm not real swooft on Providence Hospital, either — though I was actually born there in 1955.

I feel that I can simply do better on my own and I am willing to take my chances.

So keep your woke physician and don't let them kill my people.

I'll take care of myself or my own and urge you to do the same.

If you feel unqualified then you pursue that consultancy you consider necessary.

I for one have a solid grasp of concepts essential for health maintenance and will enact those for myself.

I don't ever force myself upon anyone and would prefer reciprocation regarding that aspect of my existence.

Thank you.

Tell the Truth Day 2025
    Tell-the-Truth.jpg

I have been in the presence of those who were not entirely honest.

Indeed, it was an embarassing predicament on several occasions.

At one time it became so bad that all I could do is say

How can I tell you are lying ?

Your lips move.

Today is Tell the Truth Day.

It happens each July 7 and us one of those observations which should lead to the foundations of living with integrity.

So when you go out among the populace I do hope you'll take the moral high road as it were and keep your revelations strictly on the up and up.

So happy Tell the Truth Day and always try to be honest and stalwart in your interpersonal relations.

Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day 2025
that which the webmaster manages
Yeah I suppose I could be called a webmaster. I suppose I could make you spit teeth as well as I detest the title.

I was once a Web Systems Administrator with an incorporated municipality but the other employees were too stupid to call me that.

They couldn't even admit the fact that I was a full blown Systems Admin though it was actually in my title.

They simply called me "webmaster".

Be all of this as it may today is Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day.

It's a July 6th happening as as such is quite a bit over rated given my personal history.

My particular enviornment involved Coldfusion, javascript, html, and heavy graphics creation, backups, and updates.

Then they tried to push Microsnot Sharepoint off on me. I departed because I simply could not be bothered with ANY microsoft garbage ...

Nor incompetent mouthy unskilled micromanaging negroes in the workplace.

I never felt appreciated.

I never once wanted to be taken to lunch, either.

So if you're all cuddly with your webmaster by all means take him or her out to lunch.

If not, just give them some assignment because it is likely to make them happier than socializing with you.

Happy Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day. Now just go away.

Good riddance.

National Outdoor Lights Day 2025
    Outdoor lights
I used to put lights up each Christmas when I was a child at home.

Daddy would set them up and I would go outside and look at them for hours at a time. It made me feel all warm and festive inside.

Today is National Outdoor Lights Day.

It is held each July fifth and marks those times we add warmth to outdoor spaces with lights.

Gone are the days of lighting the night with fires.

We now have a wide variety of lighting with which to contemplate the environment outdoors.

Whereas I used to be an incandescent light kind of guy I find myself utilizing LED lights nowadays.

There are places where the outdoor lights are particularly spectacular. Places like Times Square at New Years Eve and the Las Vegas Strip most any time.

That light from those modern Christmas bulbs my daddy put up still warm my heart in my memories of him.

He was always about Christmas and the outdoor lights were simply the way he showed it.

Happy National Outdoor Lights Day.

Independence Day 2025

Today we celebrate another anniversary of our national independence from the rule of England. We now have a President who isn't a crook out to monetize office and tries to do what is best for the country.

Damn the democrat crooks who were doing their best to take the entire nation to the cleaners.

God Bless America.

Air Conditioning Appreciation Day 2025
Armstrong split unit

Lately the weather has been firey. In the vernacular it's been hot as Hell.

Frequent daytime temperatures of 100 degrees. Add to that upwards of 80 percent humidity for equally extended periods of time.

It had approached the point where I was actually feeling pretty doggone moist all the time.

We are now in Air Conditioning Appreciation Days under the auspices of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute which are observed from July 3 to August 15 annually.

These days acknowledge the invention and role of air conditioning in society.

The objective is to recognize that HVAC units cool homes, regulate temperatures in clinical settings, and filter allergens out of the air.

Additionally, the day emphasizes the need to properly clean and maintain your air conditioning units.

The modern air conditioner was invented in 1902 by one Willis Haviland Carrier.

Since then the invention has played a significant role in modern society, particularly in the sweltering white hot heat and humidity of South Carolina summers.

When I was a child we did not have air conditioning until I was in the fifth grade.

I simply do not think I could stand the heat and humdity stress these days.

Made in the USA Day 2025
    Made in the USA Label
I try to buy items that are made in the USA.

I do this as a matter of supporting my own and could really give a rip about ever seeing a Chinese item for sale again.

Today is Made in the USA Day.

It is observed each July 2nd under the auspices of one Joel Joseph of the Made in the USA Foundation by manufacturers and consumers in an effort to boost the sale of local products. The date corresponds with Independence Day which is designed to give that patriotic feeling a little kick in the butt.

The day celebrates the products, companies, and brands manufacturing in the United States as well as those who offer employment and top quality service to their customers.

This label is controlled by the Federal Trade Commission and it is stipulated that “all or virtually all” of the product is made in the United States for it's inclusion.

The indication is that the "Made in the USA" label renders the product "American-made".

Regardless, the bulk of products available here are imported from abroad.

You can thank the stupid democrat party for exporting the bulk of our manufacturing to other countries in an effort to exert total control over the taxpayer.

President Trump is bringing back our manufacturing as we speak.

Zip Code Day 2025
zip codes

The mail is a fact of life. Has been longer than I've been around. We even studied it in the second grade at Aragona Elementary School in Ms Key's class.

Short for zone improvement plan this postal system came into use in the United States from the early 1960s. Now it has evolved to zip+4 which turns the five digit zip code into a nine-digit number including the original 5 digits plus a a specific geographic segment within the five-digit delivery area.

My goodness. The term ‘ZIP code’ is registered by the United States Postal Service. Using the ZIP code has now gone beyond its initial scope. now including the collection of geographical statistics, credit card authorization, internet routing, identification of legislative districts, insurance-related works, and more.

Today is ZIP Code Day.

It is observed each July first annually.

I know that a lot of ecommerce will offer the zip+4 variant during order placement in an effort to improve service.

I'm just glad I don't have to pursue the Zip Code as vigorously as our intrepid mail carriers.

Happy Zip Code Day.

National US Postage Stamp Day 2025
    US Postage Stamps
Never was one to collect stamps. I had a couple of childhood friends who did; one of whom was really into it. Somehow the allure simply escaped me.

Today is National U.S. Postage Stamp Day.

The US government post office began issuing adhesive postage stamps valued at five and ten cents on July 1, 1847.

In 1855, a scant century prior to my birth, the use of stamps was made mandatory.

They began with stamps featuring the face or bust of some former American president — or other historically significant statesman.

Then the post office discovered that selling stamps that were also collectables was a revenue generator. This resulted in a thrust to make more money by issuing commemorative stamps in conjunction with various events and anniversaries from present and past history.

So happy National US Postage Stamp Day to you. If you are a collector, all the better.

Clean Your Disposal Day 2025
insinkerator SS-100
The garbage disposal was invented in 1927 by John W Hammes in Racine, Wisconsin.

They grind and pulverize food such that it may safely go down the sink and traverse the plumbing without damaging it or causing clogs.

He patented the device in 1933.

I have a large powerful garbage disposal installed in my sink. It was recommended and installed by my plumber, Ed.

My mother has one which is even more powerful installed in her sink.

It is my duty to see to the operational maintenance of these disposal units so I make it a point to flush them regularly with copious warm water and run soap through them as a matter of operational routine.

Today is Clean Your Disposal Day.

It happens each year on June 30th and encourages us to tend to these essential yet much maligned, abused, and overlooked applicances.

In this way you can ensure proper hygenic maintenance and smooth operation.

Suggestions for cleaning include:

•  Liquid Soap while operating the appliance to loosen substances adhering to the internal surfaces.
•  Running ice cubes through the operating appliance to scrape the internal surfaces.
•  Citrus peels to freshen the internals.
•  Vinegar and baking soda as general cleaning agents.

I have utilized all of these with success.

Our disposals are odor and trouble free as well as quiet because I give them what they need to keep them clear of particulates regardless of the time of year.

I view it all as a very important aspect of city life.

Summer (The First Time) by Bobby Goldsboro
Lady of Summer First Time

Summer (The First Time) by Bobby Goldsboro came out immediately after I graduated from high school.

It was recorded April 11, 1973 at The Sound Shop, Nashville, Tennessee and was released on United Artists Records June 29, 1973 which was about a month after my graduation on May 30, 1973.

Lyricists were Bobby Goldsboro, Ashley Abram, and Timmy Tappan.

It is a haunting and beautiful coming of age ballad.

I have enjoyed it my entire adult life because it triggers certain warm memories from events in my past.

Summer — The First Time

It was a hot afternoon
Last day of June
And the sun was a demon
The clouds were afraid
One ten in the shade
And the pavement was steaming

I told Billy Ray
In his red Chevrolet
I needed time for some thinking
I was just walking by
When I looked in her eye
And I swore it was winking

She was thirty one and I was seventeen
I knew nothing about love, she knew everything
When I sat down beside her on the front porch swing
And wondered what the coming night would bring

The sun closed her eyes
As it climbed in the sky
And it started to swelter
The sweat trickled down the front of her gown
I thought it would melt her

She threw back her hair
Like I wasn't there
She sipped on a julep
Her shoulders were bare
And I tried not to stare
When I looked at her two lips

And when she looked at me
I heard her softly say
I know you're young
You don't know what to do or say
But stay with me until the sun has gone away
And I will chase the boy in you away

And then she smiled then we talked for a while
Then we walked for a mile to the sea
We sat on the sand, and the boy took her hand
But I saw the sun rise as a man

Ten years have gone by
Since I looked in her eye
But the memory lingers
I got back in my mind
To the very first time
And feel the touch of her fingers

It was a hot afternoon
Last day of June
And the sun was a demon
The clouds were afraid
One ten in the shade
And the pavement was steaming

Elon Musk's Birthday 2025
     Elon Musk

Today is the birthday of the wealthiest man on the planet. Elon Reeve Musk was born June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa.

He is an entrepreneur who began in internet start-ups which were later sold for millions apiece.

He is CEO and founder of some of the largest and most successful companies in the world.

He works in artificial intelligence, space technology, car design, public transport, and is known internationally ...

And not without controversy. His net worth is around $263.3 billion.

Mr Musk was born to Maye Musk who is Canadian and Errol Musk who is South African.

He has been married four times, twice to one woman and has eight children.

His visionary approach has been fodder for jealous people who claim he is unorthodox and unscientific. Yet his stuff works well.

Unorthodox suits me just fine personally because the orthodoxed approaches are pretty shoddy in and of themselves. Thanks worthless public education system.

Today is Elon Musk's birthday. He is 54 years old today.

National Food Truck Day 2025
Food Trucks. They began in Los Angeles like most of the rest of that which is bad for the nation.

In the Navy we called them the "Roach Coach".

Food Truck
The petty officer of the watch would announce "The roach coach is pierside" and we would go and grab a bite or two or three.

They sported all manner of delictable foodstuffs hot and ready for a tired sailor on duty or a pier wandering power lifter on the West coast.

Today is National Food Truck Day.

It is observed on the last Friday in June making it June 27 this year.

Though I don't do a lot of food truck business since my hitch in the Navy was up I still have fond memories and would not hesitate to grab a bite from one should nothing else come in between.

They originate from medieval food carts through the chuck wagons of the old west and the serving of hotdogs and burgers blossomed into the availability of just about anything you might want to eat.

So even though it's not "really" a holiday I choose to observe National Food Truck Day because of my past.

Just because I don't typically utilize them doesn't mean that I won't.

Happy National Food Truck Day.
