Biden et al wants you to eat bugs
eat bugs like a good little slave
Under the auspices of the idiotic out of touch Biden Administration, the United States Department of Agriculture began funding research into trash fed crickets as an alternative to conventional and so-called “unsustainable” protein production in July 2023, as mentioned in a Federal grant listing.

It is said that there was a 130K$ grant to develop cost efficient production of crickets as a sustainable protein source.

These stupid people exhibit nothing but failure to protect the public interest. Imagine the standard of living they propose for us, but NOT for them ...

Somebody has had their stupid head stuck up Klaus Schwab's dumb ass for ENTIRELY too long.

The idea of utilizing municipal landfill waste to feed crickets for later human consumption is rather like de-evolution. We are DEVOLVING — going backward in time. Antiprogress if you will.

Not that I would ever eat stupid Bill Gates lab grown meat mess, either.

The cricket derivative products are already being sold and consumed in the EU and other jurisdictions adjacent to the insane Mr Schwab and his ilk.

The insipid Klaus Schwab can now add to his declaration of your non existent human rights "You will own nothing, eat bugs, and be happy".

The stupid WEP, moronic Biden admnistration, and insane Bill Gates needs to stop trying assume divine right leadership because they are WAY out of their mentally handicapped league — and keep their bossy unintelligent nasty hands off the food supply.

They are NOT a group providing good leadership at ANY level. Insipid democrats. You and your leftist libtard uninformed woke imbecile asses did this.

National Drink Wine Day 2024
glass of wine
I have been known to drink wine. I was more of a consumer of the stuff in my younger years.

Nowadays I don't drink any alcohol to speak of and I'm afraid wine went by the wayside along with the beer, liquor, Absinthe, and other varied alcohol of my past.

I'm not saying I'll never have another drink. I just haven't for the past 30 some odd years.

Wine. Vino. Inebriant. Wine spodiodie. The fermented juice of fruit, typically grapes sometimes to include the stems if you're going for grappa.

I have heard of various concoctions called "merlot" being created by prison populations in toilets. I'm afraid I could never go there. Above ALL else I remain the consumate hygiene freak.

Wine has been around since about 7000 BC and is featured prominently in scripture and other works of antiquity.

Today is National Drink Wine Day. It is an occurrence each February 18 and promotes a snootful of your favorite kind.

Wine has been a tradition of humans as a beverage and soother of the attitude for eons. I would give you my modern spin on the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam "A Book of Verses underneath the Bough" ...

A can of beans, a box of wine, and thou.

So here's to the long human tradition of drinking wine.

Salute !

World Pangolin Day 2024
There is a problem in Africa and Asia with the hunting of a scaly mammal called the Pangolin.

These animals are harvested to excess for their scales, skin, blood, and fetuses which are thought to be useful in fashion, medicine, and cooking.

They are typically trapped illegally and trafficked for killing by the recipients who think they are both a cure all and status meal which is very tasty.
Pangolin (Pholidota)

World Pangolin Day is an annual observance designed to raise awareness of the plight of these animals whose number dwindle precipitously due to the abuses they suffer at the hands of selfish people.

They are on the list of things I will not eat and the more I learn of these animals the more I want to join the fight to protect them on the planet.

It is a shame that an animal will be poached from it's habitat then killed and eaten though their entire species is endangered by some Asian looking for status among their peers.

Innovation Day 2024
    large hadron collider at CERN
My career was immersed in technology for 40 years, but I was never really an "innovator" as it were.

After maintaining and operating the AN/SPG 55-B air search radar and missile guidance set during my Navy hitch I delved into other existing technical areas after discharge and developed various software products for market and also engaged in a few cutting edge computational models of my own only to have team leaders assume credit for them and push me aside when they were complete.

Innovation is the act of introducing new things into the world to include science, hardware, customs, products, and even rites of passage or religion.

Today we mark innovation by commemorating Innovation Day each February 16th in recognition of the role knowledge plays in the advancement of humanity. Technology, inventions, and careers are the crux of the day with a primary focus on those inventors which bring the advancements in science and technology to us.

Since the 1700s we have been a consumer driven culture and indeed by the 1920s civilization pushed business organizations to develop innovative goods and services and even provided laboratories for reasearch and experiementation toward that end.

Innovation Day is that mark we place on the world to provide something better.

World Anthropology Day 2024
human skull sketch
An observance that doesn't typically come to my mind is World Anthropology Day. The observance is held on the third Thursday of February, making it February 15th this year and it is a vehicle for celebrating the field and sharing information regarding Anthropology with the interested public.

I would likely not be in that group otherwise. I have my own interests in studying humanity but these pursuits are more of a personal nature secondary to my inquisitiveness and I am already well versed in human behavior, biology, and societal functionality.

The day began in 2015 under the auspices of The American Anthropological Association. It was originally called National Anthropology day and of course the masses must squirt their globalist taint on everything.

It is an interesting interlude in the origins of humanity, the development of cultures, scientific methodology — and attempts to explain much of the infuriating aspects of various human interactions as well. The field attempts to be unbiased but I'm afraid the notion never fails to seep into many of those presentations offered. I think it's an attempt to place that culture being discussed in the most favorable light.

So love it or hate it Anthropology will likely exist as long as people do. If the insufferable evil asshole Bill Gates continues to get his sick way we will likely see greatly diminished numbers of people and cultures following his various genocide programs. The Gates Foundation was founded to kill off the bulk of world population. No one seems to be concerned, however, except India. What woke fools populate the Earth anymore.

Valentines Day 2024
Happy Valentines Day !

It's Valentine's Day, orginally a part of a mid February Roman holiday called Lupercalia — which celebrated health and fertility. Some believe this is why Valentine's Day is all about love.

I find that my romantic nature has somewhat diminished over time. I was all lovey dovey when I was a young man. This persisted for about 20 years and then began to wane as career goals and requirements seemed to always be a priority. So in my present the prospects aren't really anything I view as viable — but my social life is quite satisfactory and I squeak by as well as I can.

Regardless, I hope your love life is everything for which you might hope and Happy Valentines Day to you !

Mardi Gras 2024
    Dave in Mardi Gras beads
Mardi Gras, aka 'Fat Tuesday' aka 'Shrove Tuesday' and 'Pancake Tuesday' is one of those raucous gatherings of celebrants who include the loud, the risque, the profane, the public urinators, and of course, the unfortunate arrestees.

I've been to a couple of celebrations in New Orleans back in a younger day and I dare say I've had enough for one lifetime.

The food was good, but drinking your way down Bourbon Street is very ill advised when you have a plane to catch the next morning.

Needless to say I spent an extra week in my hotel because I couldn't hold all that liquor.

I dare say the experience was part and parcel of those reasons for which I gave up all alcohol and other recreational drugs long ago.

Mardi Gras originates in the pagan celebrations and rites of spring and fertility. It is one of those big indulgences that precede Lent.

I didn't do any frolicking the last time I was there to the best of my memory.

At least I didn't get arrested. An added plus was I got to see a plethora of massive magnificent boobage as well.

It was a hell of a time — and quite a bit on the costly side of the equation. In light of all that alcoholic hang over triggered by overindulgence I remain glad I went the few times I did.

National Clean Out Your Computer Day 2024
There really shouldn't be a "day" for this, but today is ostensibly designated for the clean out of your computer.

I construe this to mean:

  •   cracking the case and blowing it out nicely then
  •   cleaning the exterior — as well as
  •   going through the file system if your skill level permits and getting rid of the temporary work files and any other obsolete files such as core dumps and caches

computer cleanup
I typically handle this on a three to six month flex schedule and there is no real set "day" for it all. I have to be particularly cognizant of those temporary work files and cache depositories due to the heavy graphics and writing I do over the course of a week. This is primarily due to the increased time requirement when maintenance which is handled on a less frequent basis.

The organization comes along with all this — and I have even purchased and installed a terabyte in two Sandisk Ultra Luxe flash drives for tertiary backup and storage of those things I don't want all over the hdd or sdd. The old set exist as archives and are hanging on the deer antlers in my bedroom.

So the inside of the machine gets cleaned out. The outside gets cleaned off. The dust gets blasted away and I am particularly vigilant regarding dust bunnies in the heat sink fins, fans, and so forth. My vacuum cleaner and it's crevice tool comes into play frequently.

I hope you will take the time to give your workstation the once over periodically. I believe it will add years to the functionial life of your machine. A cluttered desk may be the sign of a genius but a chronically dirty computer will be shorter lived than it might be otherwise.

Man Day 2024
sketch after Big Man by Ron Mueck
Man day is held the Sunday prior to Valentines Day in tribute to the male of the species.

Unlike Valentines Day which is a couples observance, Man Day is a celebration of the XY chromosomally configured louts who populate the earth in an effort to show some love and appreciation toward them.

There is no inclusion of the so-called 'trans-man' who is the figment of a segment of the misguided population's imagination. The so-called 'trans-man' is a woman masquerading as something she can never be.

Man Day is not a day for excessive indulgences, but more a low key acknowledgement as it were.

I'm not one for such goings on even though I too am a genetic male and therefore an actual man ... not some cheap imitation set forth by some delusional irrational transexual.

I don't need any text messages. I don't need a card, ecard or otherwise. I don't need to be 'pumped up' with any flattering drivel. If you need to take your shot and move on. I am what I am and that's good enough for me.

It's all just another day in the life for me personally.

However, I'm not opposed to these indulgences and I can think of a lot of men who could use a little recognition of what they are despite that level to which they may aspire.

So happy Man Day to all the men out there and try not to let it go to your head. You'll be the same downtrodden human being the idiot woke world considers you on the twelveth.

National Umbrella Day 2024
Gustbuster Pro Series Gold Golf Umbrella
When I was last employed I was at a local incorported municipality manning a straight nine to five shift. I always maintained an extremely large black golf umbrella that I might traverse the city streets in the rain without soaking my work regalia.

Back then I was a formal-attire conscious white shirt and dress pants, necktie, and leather shoes kind of guy with accessories I attached to my clothing in the form of badges and thumb drives and even tweakers and various other accoutrement of the well heeled techie.

Today is National Umbrella Day. It is observed each February 10 to recognize that accessory which allows us to shed water as though from a duck's back.

My signature umbrella back then was the Gustbuster Pro Golf umbrella. I liked it because it was huge and allowed excellent coverage and the superior wind resistance. Ultimately I became known as someone who could lend a high quality umbrella during sudden onset rain storms.

Those good ole working days have been long gone. I no longer have the same need or impetus to carry a truly excellent umbrella anymore. I still admire them, however. Call it a throwback to my past.

Happy National Umbrella Day to you.

National Cut The Cord Day 2024
    cut cat 6 twisted pair
Mom has fully wireless house wide internet connectivty. She gets 150 megabits per second over a redundant set of routers with fail over and she seems pretty happy with it all. This situation was by design and I had things planned out and the equipment bought prior to her house being finished.

Today is National Cut the Cord Day. It promotes the use of wireless network connectivity for the common man ... er and woman.

It occurs each February 9th and is a vehicle by the totally inadequate and poorly run Sling TV, who have no desire to offer a COMMERCIAL FREE tier and therefore lost my business early in their meager measly notalent existence.

Streaming differs from cable in the delivery. Streaming is a public domain service whereby you attach your equipment to a live internet connection and go to town. Cable requires a dedicated connection which is ususally in the thicknet media range to private equipment.

I opt for the no commercial tiers of streaming offerings. I would much rather pay more and receive less commercial interruptions. I have had providers drop their commercial free tiers only to have me drop them with extreme prejudice.

Suffice it to say that Mom will remain wireless to provide her some modicum of freedom in her domicile. She has a lot of broadband connected equipment which operates quite well in this scenario.

Fat Thursday 2024
pączki
We approach the passover season, wrongly called 'Easter' by the pagan uninitiated.

Fat Thursday goes down on that Thursday prior to Ash Wednesday each February and is positioned before the 40 days of Lent.

This year is will be celebrated on February 8 and is that time to indulge prior to the lean time of Lent.

There are numerous Polish traditions associated with Fat Thursday and most notable of these are the pączki or jelly filled donuts powdered with sugar and consumed with great relish. There are many other taste treats associated with the holiday.

The Christian tradition of Fat Thursday is sometimes associated with the celebration of Carnival.

I hope you can take this last opportunity prior to Lent &mdashp; which is a time of fasting, the days leading up to Ash Wednesday provide the last opportunity for feasting until Easter.

Rose Day 2024
    rose
I used to be a giver of roses. There were times over the years the act got away with me and I had women thinking I was attempting to be more in their lives than I thought. While it was an embarassment on a few occasions other times it was very gratifying.

I think that a gift of flowers is a thoughtful addition to any relationship, budding or close, platonic or otherwise. While I no longer actively pursue the female of the species as I once did in a younger day, the memories which remain are both poignant and varied.

Today is Rose Day. It happens each February 7th annually and marks the commencement of Valentine’s week. When I was working the old '9 to 5' I was known to arrive with several two pound Whitman's Samplers for the ladies in the office on each and every Valentines Day. Unfortunately the candy was all too often scarfed down by the dudes in the office prowling for the same taste sensation. It wasn't meant for them, however.

Be all of it as it may, the rose is a very appropriate gift based on the color and timeline. Different colors have different meanings applied to them. The two I used to give most often were yellow and red roses.

In the dull and commonplace events of day to day living I hope you will take a moment to consider the rose as a token. A rose by any other name would indeed still smell as sweet and I remain a fan after all these years.

National Chopsticks Day 2024
chopsticks
There's a Japanese restaurant in Saint Andrews I used to frequent. Now I only make it there intermittently. Inakaya Watanabe is run by my friend Ryo San and it is a good place to go for authentic Japanese dishes — in addition to Asian fusion and other international specialties as well.

When I go there I typically don a pair of chopsticks and go to town. There was a time when I had less facility with them by and large but that was then and this is now. I can now eat any manner of sushi or sushimi in the best traditions of The Ginza and what's more, it's food I sincerely love and enjoy.

Chopsticks have been in use since about 1200 BC and they are a staple of Asian cusine and utensils I pride myself in being able to use deftly.

If you enjoy Japanese food as much as I there is a place for you at the sushi bar and in Japan sushi means community. I once would never do much speaking while eating but nowadays I jump right in there and participate.

I plan on going back there soon to enjoy those dishes I miss so much.
