The middle of last week found me in a state of irresponsibility.
I had allowed all of my SSL/TLS certificates to lapse resulting in browser errors saying how they had expired and there was no security and this could be the portends of some personal catastrophe should you contine ...
So thusly I found myself without access to the mail server with which I could verify domain control and it was indeed a sticky wicket.
Finally, I had reached the point where everything should have been copacetic but found myself not receiving the domain verification emails.
I had requested subnets from the vendor that I might punch a hole in the firewall to accommodate them in perpetuity. This fell on deaf ears and nobody responded to repeated requests.
So I cancelled the order then requested a refund for cause and pursued the same certs elsewhere.
In retrospect, I likely would have been better served by just temporarily stopping the firewall seeing how infantile some vendors are during discussion of ancillary technical aspects of their business.
The second vendor accommodated my subnet inquiry and voila I am now up and running for another year on new certs.
In my never ending quest to benefit from past mistakes I have set a recurring reminder on my calendar to renew 15 days prior to expiration.
What an insane bunch of nothing. The browser manufacturers and their SSL/TLS racket along with their "trusted" Certificate Authority requirement is merely a contrived career intended to benefit unskilled oafs touting a need which could be handled otherwise and is one of those petty money grubbing rackets masquerading as security and encryption necessities.
It's rather like that other joke called search engine optimization aka SEO. It's designed to provide incomes for the other unskilled impersonating computer professionals. They take your money for nothing as well.
However, I will comply with the cert ponzi scheme in my never ending pursuit of appropriate comportment in the public domain.
We all know how I feel about it otherwise. The dead horse has been thoroughly beaten.
