I've had a lot of wishes over the years. Some have come true. Others have not. I try to view the big picture with all the wishes bouncing around one cannot always have each and every one of their own.
One of my wishes for today is a happy birthday to my brother.
Another of my wishes is to score big on the lottery.
Some wishes are more realistic than others.
Today is World Wish Day. It happens each April 29 annually.
Held under the auspices of the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants wishes to terminally ill children — it is a holiday that everyone may take joy in celebrating.
It is almost impossible to find another without something for which they wish. Children with terminal illness certainly deserve priority in this aspect of existence.
The first World Wish Day was first celebrated in 2010. There is a very touching back story and the Make-A-Wish Foundation has numerous poignant anecdotes I've read over the years.
Some can really bring tears to your eyes.
So here's to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and their excellent work.
Here's to wishes and the hopes and dreams of people everywhere.
Here's to my brother, for whom I wish a very happy birthday.
