One of those special things about my childhood was the cub scouts. My mom was den mother and we did all kinds of things weekly.
I never had much ambition to rise through the ranks, but she never held that against me and it was a real hoot.
She always amazed me with the never ending flow of ideas she had for each successive meeting.
The pinning ceremonies were a matter of particular pride for me and my cohorts and I get the warm and fuzzies every time I think about them.
Today is World Scout Scarf day. This observance has been formally promoted just since 2007 and is meant to encourage active and former Scouts internationally to wear their neckerchiefs in public each August first as a symbol of the Scout promise and the spirit of Scouting.
So to scouts everywhere Happy World Scout Scarf Day to you !
