Each year I get a flu shot. Interspersed every few years I get a pneumonia shot. I have noticed that the flu shot results in little side effects while the pneumonia shot gives me mild pulmonary symptoms for a brief while more times than not.

It is surprising that a totally preventable, highly treatable illness can cause so much death — particularly in young folks.

It is my hope that we will raise awareness of the presence of pneumonia in the children and the elderly in particular in an effort to quash that morbidity it presents to the two ends of the age spectrum.
