World Pianist Day 2023
I've had a lot of pianists in my musical listening history come and go. One of those persistent artists was Armando Anthony Corea aka "Chick" Corea. He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on June 12, 1941. Sadly, he passed from cancer in Tampa Bay, Florida at age 79 on February 9, 2021.He gave me an appreciation for jazz and improvisation that has stood the test of time.
Today is World Pianist Day.
It is observed each November 8 and is about those pianists and their achievements. Those profound aural images Chick Corea evoked in me as I experienced his performances are what this day is all about.
