I've only known very few goth types in my lifetime. I suppose it's a function of my work place in conjunction with those social venues I gravitate toward — they just aren't a frequent ocurrence in my activities of daily living.
It's pretty much my experience that goths are just people with a specific fashion statement and tastes in clothing and makeup (OMG) based on black and red and an aire of apocalyptic or mystical musical inclinations.
To each their own ...
Yes, another World Goth Day is upon us. This day is set aside by individuals of the goth persuasion to celebrate who they are, how they look, and to impose their presence upon the rest of the world.
Since 2009 World Goth Day which started in the United Kingdom has spread to those proponents internationally via a web site utilized to coordinate and promote events featuring the goth lifestyle.
The day ostensibly celebrates the cultural aspects of all things Goth including fashion, art, and music with fashion shows, art exhibitions and music performances.
The aim is to circumvent prejudice against the subculture. After all it's just a means of self expression and some of those goths known to me are pretty hysterical and rioteous in mixed company.
So before you go all psycho when you encounter a goth just step back, take a deep breath, and moderate. If that doesn't work then pop a couple of midol and shoot a tampoon up your ass.
I've never had a problem with the way an individual chooses to represent themselves in public per se.
