So even though the rock music called 'goth' which arose from punk with those mystical and apocalyptic lyrics never crossed my lips nor my ears,
And even though I never embraced the subculture favoring all the black clothing with white and black and red makeup to go along with it all ...

Today is World Goth Day — "a day where the goth scene gets to celebrate its own being, and an opportunity to make its presence known to the rest of the world."
World Goth Day has British beginnings about 2009 as a BBC Radio 6 event by Goth DJs Cruel Britannia and martin oldgoth . Ultimately, May 22 became the date selected for recurrence of the day celebrating goth subculture. It has grown over the years to around 40 events internationally.
