World Dracula Day 2026

Bella Lugosi as Dracula
Whenever I think of Dracula my mind wanders back to childhood and my good ole late friend Chris.

We lived at Key West during my late middle school years and did all manner of super 8 film work depicting old classics of horror such as vampires and wolf men and it was an idyllic fun time during those carefree years.

Today we have World Dracula Day.

It is observed each May 26 to commemorate the publication date of Bram Stoker's iconic Gothic novel Dracula on May 26, 1897.

The day was established in 2012 by the Whitby Dracula Society, the day celebrates the profound impact the Count has had on international literature and pop culture.

It is typically celebrated by reading or re-reading the original 1897 book, participating in movie marathons, hosting parties featuring adaptations of Dracula and the legends surrounding the character as well as vampire themed gatherings, costume parties, and discussion groups.
