World Diabetes Day is a campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus and is held on November 14 annually under the auspices of the International Diabetes Federation.
Diabetes is a defect of carbohydrate metabolism which happens either early (juvenile onseet diabetes) or later (adult onset diabetes) and those intrinsic factors differ between the two primary variants as to cause and course.
My personal affliction is "type 2" (adult onset) diabetes aka "metabolic syndrome".
It has subjected me to a need for several medications in the absence of the self control required to diminish my weight adequately and I am plagued by side effects of the oral agents which I prefer to the injectables which; while more effective are subject to their own cholera like manifestations as a result of their use.
Needless to say, my "inferior genetics" as Dr Bill Robinson put it are being compensated for with the use of pharmacologic agents which I'd just as soon live without. However, were it not for them I likely would not be living presently.
I notice many from my area die very prematurely and their causes are likely those lifestyle diseases which include adult onset diabetes.
