I once was a chocoholic. I would eat great masses of chocolate in various forms with considerable relish. I was a fan of Ghirardelli double chocolate hot cocoa mix which I would stir into warm milk or even hot water and chug.
Alas, all of this was not without consequence. There were adverse effects on my metabolism and skin. I eventually found myself moderating to the point that I only occasoinally permit myself the indulgence I once saw practically daily.
Still, it's one of my favorite flavors.
Today is World Chocolate Day, aka International Chocolate Day in some circles. It is held each year on July 7 with some held on the 9th.
It is primarily a day to consume various chocolate confections, bakery goods, and drinks.
In the US we observe a National Chocolate day on October 28. Confectioners in the US also state September 13 as International Chocolate Day.
Regardless of the day you choose, chocolate has been around a long time and is here to stay. I love the taste but the sugar typically included with it reeks havoc on my metabolic syndrome. Carob nibs are my alternative of choice becuse they are healthy with much less sugar.
Enjoy !
