World Ballet Day 2026

When I was a child at Argagona Village in Virginia Beach my sister pursued ballet.

I was amazed at the flexibility she attained during those days and have often wondered how it may have progressed had she pursued it beyond those few years she indulged it.

Today is World Ballet Day.

It is an annual observance since 2015 and is hosted by various ballet companies who pick the day in October it will be held.

It is a day to enjoy and learn about this dance form from an international perspective as presented by the Royal Opera House in London, participating companies include The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Ballet, and Royal Swedish Ballet. It should not be confused with the related observance, National Ballet Day, which is celebrated each February 7.

Events presented by the various companies are streamed on the internet and are free to watch.
