Today is the birthday of the United States Marine Corps. I note it because so many of my friends were either members of the corps or the Marine Corps League.
Each year on November 10 they have a cake cutting ceremony and the Marine Corps Ball.
My good friend the late Eldon Dewitt Casey made it a point to actively participate in all events related to both the Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League.
He was a Devil Dog, which is the preferred nickname of marines all over.
This day commerates the formation of The Continental Marines in 1775.
Today, we have over 200,000 Marines occupying four divisions with stations at Camp Pendleton, California; Okinawa, Japan; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
