The distro upgrade has been completed for the fourth time.
Each time I learned more about the inner workings.
I have accumulated about all of the information I require.
It seems that the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) stuff is pretty much unnecessary for my lowly box and hard coded into the distro.
So I must endure a boot message stating that there appears to be no bmc at this location and it will remain my little cross to bear unless some patch is released later.
Also, the cloud support embedded in this version is likewise unnecessary as I will not be part of the cloud proper ... but I don't have to pursue it as the firewall handles that nicely.
The burgeoning mail retool has become fairly complicated with the newer security requirements. The SMTP stuff is a breeze. It's the POP and IMAP delivery mess giving me a bit of the fits.
Be all of this as it may, I view it all as the requirements for forward motion in that evolving technology field into which I have been immersed since 1979.
