The long Memorial Day weekend is upon us. I spent the day at work yesterday primarily on loose ends. My assistant departed for the North Carolina coast headed for a dive trip ... and it appears he may rendezvous with the first tropical storm of the year. They have been broadcasting warnings all day. I hope things go well for his trip.
We are having a discussion regarding visiting my sister for Sunday dinner. Mom has trepidation associated with traveling in the rain. I have no such issues and have offered to drive. We'll just have to see. I don't want her to suffer any undue distress over travel arrangements.
I am still getting past the expense of the new hot water heater. Though I am sitting pretty I really hate to scrape the barrel as I did covering these expenses. I have instituted a very healthy emergency fund which will go into effect this payday. I have a raise coming next month and it will effectively cancel out any change in my net pay. Things are shaping up nicely.
Later I'm heading over to Moms to cut John's grass and do a little trimming. I'm bringing my blower too because it is likely that some relocation of the fallen leaves will be required as well. Mom is very conscious of how John used to tend to his yard and we are careful to try and maintain that high standard to honor his memory.
We still miss him terribly.
Though much remains up in the air from a standpoint of definitive plans there is a lot to do prior to Monday and some down time ... then back to work.
