On this day in 1998 The Howard Stern Radio Show premiered on CBS to about 70% of the US radio audience. Not being a part of the US radio audience, I missed it of course.
Howard Allan Stern is an American radio and television personality, comedian, and author best known for his radio show which grew in popularity after being nationally syndicated on various radio platforms.
He describes himself as a media "King" since 1992 and while I do appreciate his humor and insight into the human conditon I personally feel that some of his work is in bad taste and there are segments I found revolting.
However, he doesn't pull any punches regarding others or himself and I can always respect that. His first movie was quite enjoyable as I recall.
His books and movies have just added to that pile of money he earns each year from his various endeavors.
Anyway — love him or hate him, Howard Stern is a force with which to be reckoned in the field of media arts and public consumption.
