The Broken Heart

    broken heart

There is a uniquely human concept known as "the broken heart" whereby people become immensely sad usually as the result of unrequited love and that sequela rejection and moving on.

Sensations include the heart being perceived as a cold lump in the chest which attempts to sustain a person in the absence of that will to go on.

There is an emptiness otherwise said to pervade the very soul.

Happiness appears to depart for parts unknown to the point when those affected are no longer interested in where it's gone.

They shun approach and interaction.

They refrain from interpersonal interaction and decline to smile or speak or even acknowledge that others exist.

There is this dark acceptance of being done and other considerations become secondary.

Its easy to let go. The difficulty lay in attempting to grasp at nothing.

Such is the convoluted recovery process for those who allow others to control their emotions.

I dare say these type of antics are primarily a manifestation of the young crowd and likely dissipate when a person hits their forties.

I know I used to go bat crap crazy over my smattering of lovelorn episodes.

Now, it's move on and stay out of my way.

How Can You Mend a Broken Heart

I can think of younger days
When living for my life
Was everything a man could want to do
I could never see tomorrow
But I was never told about the sorrow
How can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend this broken man? How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart
And let me live again

I can still feel the breeze
That rustles through the trees
And misty memories of days gone by
We could never see tomorrow
But no one said a word about the sorrow
How can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down
How can you stop the sun from shining
What makes the world go round

And how can you mend this broken man? How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart
And let me live again
La la la la la la, la la la la
La la la la la la, la la la la
Please help me mend my broken heart
And let me live again
Da da da da
Da da da da, da da da da da, da
