When I was 9 years old and living as a Navy brat in Virginia Beach, VA The Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show.
They took the US musical scene by storm and opened up the musical tastes of the country for other British acts to follow. I recall all the fandom sold at the local drug store which I frequented during that time frame.
Now I had my 'beatles era' and during that time I enjoyed their music fairly well. Over the years the somewhat controversial nature of the members of the band in general became somewhat disconcerting.
Despite all of this I never acquired the disdain of some of the younger folks with whom I worked. Jessica from GIS was particularly venomous in her evaluation of them as both a talent and their stage worthiness ... but can you expect from a young lady who was into Avenged Sevenfold and mech/monster thing she found personally attractive.
This was never an issue between us for I have always been a proponent of 'to each their own' and I was quick to keep my personal opinions from her by and large.
So where there were four there are now two. I feel fortunate to have shared the experience with my contemporaries but alas, I cannot choose for others in my midst.
