Back in the late 1980s I spent a bit of time in Bedford, Massachusetts pursuing ATEX computer training. The town of Lexington lay just to the southwest and the town of Concord lay just to the southeast.
I wasn't aware of the historical significance of this area until my good friend the late Jerry Landry of Saltrock Road in Barnstable, Massachusetts brought it all to my attention.
He was quite the history and militaria buff in a time when I had little interest for either.
Staying at the Lord Bedford hotel was much more interesting in the the billowing snowflakes thereafter ...
On this day in 1775 the battles of Lexington and Concord became the first military battles of the American Revolutionary War.
The battles were fought on April 19, 1775 in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy (now called Arlington), and Cambridge.
