Star Trek Day 2026

Today is is Star Trek Day because it marks the date in 1966 when the original television series first aired in the United States.
I recall the annoyance of a lot of people I was stationed with in the Navy at Great Lakes, Illinois who were pretty fed up with Star Trek The Original Series.
At that time I failed to understand their chagrin but over time it became clear.
Since that first episode entitled "The Man Trap," was broadcast on NBC on September 8, 1966 some 60 years agon — it was a go to scifi drop for me personally for a long time, but did eventually grow old in my mind. So this is a day for fan recognition, but I seek no such coddling. Since my dear Mr Data was brought back to me in Star Trek Picard I cannot want for anything more from the franchise.
