Safety Pin invented this day in 1849
Ah, the humble safety pin. I've been known to utilize them in my various attempts at being fashionable at work. They provide for fastening when none is otherwise available.They are versatile tools primarily used to temporarily fasten fabrics, mend clothing, and repair gear.
They are essential in sewing, quilting, and emergency situations, serving as quick fixes for broken buttons, zipper pulls, or torn items.
Their sharp, durable design also allows for practical uses like removing splinters.
In 1849, Walter Hunt received the first U.S. patent for a safety pin.
There is even an international safety pin day which, of course corresponds to today.
