When I was a kid one of those comic characters I encountered frequently was Lil Abner by Al Capp.
Back in my old newspaper reading days prior to them going to hell I recall reading it along with the rest of the daily comic strips all the time.
It was a hillbilly genre comic strip which ran from 1934 through 1978 and featured a recurring theme called Sadie Hawkins Day.
It was a day of gender role reversal whereby women become the pursuers of their love interests and asked men out on dates or for a dance ...
This has been going on since November 15, 1937 and lacked all the pitiful misguidance of the trans folks and the queer folks who simply would not fit into the straight scheme of normality and things going on in Dogpatch.
There men didn't try to be large obtrusive homely women and women didn't try to be little dweebie fat men in tee shirts and dungarees — and all the coupling was hetero ... which should be the only-o.
Sadie Hawkins Day may still be around in and about some college campuses and other venues where people haven't gone bat crap crazy over their sexual orientations and gender role identities and the insanity of woke fakery.
This isn't really for me these days as I am spoken for but if you're in circulation I hope you have a happy and successful event should you decide to go there.
