Remembering Woody Guthrie

    Woody Guthrie
Woodrow Wilson Guthrie
aka Woody Guthrie
July 14, 1912 – October 3, 1967
American singer-songwriter

When I was a kid there was a man I viewed as a 'folk singer' and musician named Woody Guthrie.

He was a proto social justice warrior of sorts ...

only with manners and decorum lacking in today's idiot sjw populations who think everything is all about them.

He passed at age 55 when I was but 12 years old and I don't think I was sophisticated enough to fully appreciate him or his art for my evolution was long in coming and my understanding of humanity trailed that miserably.

I did have a bit of an Arlo Guthrie phase early on and it was then that I attempted to understand the father at least as well as I did his son.

All of this served me quite well until I entered the navy and sold my soul to rock and roll and became a heavy metal head.

Nowadays I have a full appreciation for the art of Woody Guthrie. Some of his songs are standards from that folk genre we don't hear so much of these days.

I simply don't view politics as a suitable vehicle for musical talents and though our philosophies differ radically I can still take pause and appreciate the man and rare talent that he was.
